Just when you think you've seen it all, a match like this defies even your wildest imagination. I think it ends relatively early tomorrow, say 64-62 Isner. However, being a huge fan of both players, it might be better if Nicolas wins due to the fact that I think he'll still be able to play more of his "A" game against De Bakker (he's already endured a 24-22 match against Bogdanovic and came back to win in the 3rd round of qualies right afterward).

Nico, 65-63.

all it takes is one loose game... :p I'm going to say 72-74 (or 74-72)

or it'll end right away to the crowd's dismay

Apparently it couldn't go past 50. It crashed and restarted the fifth set.

how in the world can 2 guys hold serve 59 times in a row???

i mean ur bound to double fault, have 2nd serves which ur opponent rips for a winner, etc...

this match is just freakish.

i mean im just in absolute awe of this.
in stunned disbelief.

63-61 to someone.
maybe isner.
i dunno.

the winner doesnt matter to me, both are winners.

well they are actually on serve since game 12 (2-0 mahut 2nd set) .. thats excluding tiebreaks 148 games - 74each without beeing broken .. kind of bizarre

that said i'm really looking forward to break and rebreak in the early stages today

Going to be a quick finish, I'm guessing within the first 5 games and Mahut the victor. They have to be tired after 10 hours of play and Isner with the bigger body frame will probably suffer the most.

Isner will win 66-64. The 130th game of the fifth set will go like this:

0-15; Double Fault

15-15; Ace

30-15; Unreturnable serve

30-30; Double Fault

30-40; Muffed volley

Game Isner; Foot fault called against Mahut

When it gets to 69-69, the players will strip nude and rub each other down in hot oils and invite the crowd to join them. No one will win.

Isner will retire with cramps at 68-68.

Schu
06-24-2010, 05:26 AM
Both players arms will be lead and no one can HOLD serve - it's 25 more games of back to back breaks.

Actually I guess someone breaks early, 64-62 for Mahut cuz he looked in better shape than Isner at the end but who knows.

I think Mahut will win by retirement and there won't be any play today.

Isner looked finished, and he will probably tense up overnight, so I expect a retirement announced before 3.30.

That would be extremely anticlimatic. I´m sure either one would hate to retire at this point just for the sake of history, so I would expect them to even arrive in a wheelchair if they had to just to get 2 games played.

On topic, Mahut will win 63-61, wouldn´t be surprized thought if this goes beyond 70-70:eek:

64-62 Isner

was holding easier without actually pushing on the serve for the last 10 games

Mahut had 1 BP for the whole match, Isner i think over 15

logic should prevail imo

Today is different day . They are dead tired, whole body hurts like hell, I expect more errors and only few games today.

Man, I just can't wait for it! Can it reach 100-100? Something is got to give and someone is going to have a loose game but then again I felt that way when it was 10-10 in fifth!

Just can't predict this anymore.

77-75 to... I really don't know, I thought Mahut would win yesterday because Isner was tiring but with that little bit more energy it may be more difficult to break Isner's serve. I think Isner takes it.

This. Both of course are fully deserving the victory after such an epic battle, but tennis (like life) is cruel... only one of them will get it eventually.
I hope that the one who ends up being the loser of this match will find some consolation in the fact that he's been part of a truly historic event, finding his name in the record books for a very long time to come.

They'll both have woken up today probably feeling like a 10-ton truck has rolled over them. Today's match may be anti-climactic and I wouldn't be surprised if we get a quick result like 62-60. Doesn't take anything away from the historic implications of the whole match though.

wackykid
06-24-2010, 10:33 AM
i wonder wat will happen if today both of them woke up and feeling the fatigue from yest match.... and both pulled out of the match... then we will end up with an unresolved match that is tied at 59-59 in the 5th... so how will they break up the points and $$$...?? :silly:

Yes - I agree. To come up short here would be devastating for the player but I really doubt if this type of scenario would happen again so these two players will always be notorious for this as you say, epic battle. If I had to pick, I'd go for Isner here - quickly maybe 64 62.
