Wimbledon R1: Lacko bt. Baghdatis 6-3 2-6 6-3 6-1

Baghdatis exits in the 1st round of Wimbledon without managing to get a single win on grass this year. Solid play by Lacko who took advantage of Marco's passive and uninspired play to go on to the 2nd round.

Something going on behind the scenes with Baggy, he doesn't give a **** last few matches.

Well he will have an extra week of vacation now to drink frappe on the beach do watersports, eat souvlakia and soushi

He lost interest in the tour obviously. Reminds me of what happened to Nalbandian.

Some folks tried to convince me that Marcos was 'tanking' in Halle and Rosmalen. I guess he was tanking this match as well? Marcos is in a horrible slump right now, and I can only hope he'll be okay come the HC season... :(

Good win for Lukas! Nice taking advantage of a slumping player, well done, cutey. :D

Haha..that indeed says it all.

Yeah he trains and exercises just to get it out of the way and his mind is at having fun and going out. True Limassol spirit

I wouldn't be surprised if he just fades away from the rankings with this attitude. The tour is full of new hard working and focused players with ambitions that will start beating him consistently if he doesn't regain motivation.

Obviously, he's burnt out from tennis at this point in time. He has been playing a lot since the end of last year, and it's showing in his results of late. It's unfortunate, but it happens, it's naturally to get tired of doing the same thing over and over. He needs a few weeks off, vacation, watch some World Cup, and hopefully his batteries will be recharged by the summer.

Congrats to Lukas, he played really well today. Lukas and Marcos have similar games, and Lukas was just the way better player during the match.

when he wins everyone jumps on the bandwagon, but with all his losses there are only a few fans supporting him anymore.

It's a bit sad if Marcos lost the motivation in the sport.
He's such a good player.

He'll have a vacation, recover and return in full strength. Everyone has a slump now and then.

Disappointing but nothing to worry about ;)

Why are the most talented players also the most unmotivated or even lazy?

Well Federer and Nadal are motivated and hard working and they are not at the top by accident. I guess it's hard to break a certain barrier and make it through to reach your potential. We have seen this happening with Federer and Nadal (Soderling last year). Once they realized that they have immense talent and they can make it to the top they dedicated their life to the sport and that brought their best consistently which lead to their brilliant runs. Also it takes self confidence and the power to accept that this is your life for the next 10-12 years. Many talented players fail to do so and remain mediocre for their talent.

Marcos :tape:
He's skipping the Davis Cup tie :scared:. I hope he withdraws from Atlanta now so he can take a lot of time off and realize his mistakes and come back stronger than ever :)

He played too much for the first half of this year and he's probably sick of all this. Brisbane, Sydney, Australian Open, Rotterdam, Marseille, Dubai, Davis Cup, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome, Munich, Madrid, Nice, Roland Garros, Halle, Rosmalen, Wimbledon. Just too much

Great players choose their tournaments wisely and don't enter any tournament (except from Davydenko :p ). One of the reasons is that they get tired and underperform when it really counts.

which may seem like a good thing. :)
