Djokovic played his A game in the 5th after Rochus went 2-0 up. Not a choke like Falla's.

Rochus played well in only 1 set: the 4th which he lost, Djoko really gave oli 2 sets as a present. He will loose before QF for sure

Highly entertaining match. Unsurprising it was close, given that Rochus, a talented shotmaker who might have had a shot at the Top 10 if he'd been a few inches taller, has winning record against Djokovic & knows how to play on grass, but it was good to see Djoko firing aces and return winners, playing some good aggressive groundstrokes & coming up with his best stuff when he really needed it. With any luck he has taken a step out of his slump.

Really enjoyable match. The quality had peaks and troths but Nole really showed some good tennis in the 5th. His serving is terrible though he'll do well to get past 4R unless he improves.

Match was played in a great spirit. Im a fan of late night Wimbledon Muz- Wawa last year now this match :yeah:

I only saw the last 2 sets. I didn't know that Rochus lead in the H2H. Djoker played OK but still no where near good form. I've completely written him until the U.S. Open so I'm prepared to see him lose any day now.

We'll see. That's normally the best part of his season, & I personally don't think his slump will last for ever. He'll be glad to have won a close match against an opponent he has trouble with, & that could give him enough confidence to make a decent run here, which would be a springboard for the rest of the season. Hewitt is the main obstacle to that.

yeah hes been more consistent that way, thus the ranking. though he had 2 GS semifinals in last 2 years, which all in all is not too bad, but he can really do better.

more and more Im thinking racket change was a big big mistake. he cant hit a flat shoot at all anymore. its like everything he throws is sitting there waiting to be smacked back.

however in defense of the roof, tennis acoustics and lighting seems wonderful in HD when the roof is closed. very different experience of wimbledon indeed. its gonna take a while to get used to it. but taking 40 odd minutes everytime to close the roof in the middle of a match is gonna be annoying

Great effort from the biggest fighter on tour. In the end he couldn't get it done, but he didn't look all too dejected anyway. ;)

Agree with this, Rochus had the momentum and the break didn't do him any favours.

I love the roof, it looks great (both for tennis and a TV perspective), but it does take quite a while to be playable once they've decided to close it. It's probably not possible to take any quicker given it's for grass, the lighting ect but it does take quite some time.

He's had easy draws in slams and masters allowing him to make QF and SF without having to play well. He has been injury free whereas Potro and Denko haven't. And recently well Murray has sucked worse than him. Hence he has retained no3.

He still produces too many DFs and UEs but his winners and aces rates were impressive. When he's on, which I concede it's not most of the time, he's a wonder to watch and reminds me of the reason I was hooked on tennis in the first place.
He just needs to play consistenly the way he did at spells in this match and he'll get back to normal. And all those mugs saying that he hasn't been in good form in two years, how quickly you forget his 2009 clay and end of the season which was fabulous and he displayed some brilliant tennis then.
