Surprising seeing as Arnaud has been playing poorly and Janko just made the final last week in Holland. However, we all know Janko has problems backing up good performances, and is one of the most inconsistent players around.

Congrats to Arnaud on the much needed victory here! Good luck in r2.

not a surprising result for me really. Clement played him tough in den bosch, but squandered so many break point opportunities. Even though he's old, he was the fresher of the two. Just stay healthy for hard court season Janko.

Shame. Was looking forward to another five set thriller with Federer.

I backed Clement with some Vcash here. Should have put more... I never feel really confident with Tipsarevic at any time. Always worried he might retire with an injury so I never back him.

I still don't understand why so many singles matches are played with doubles net, as Clément-Tipsarevic was. When a player hits short cross-court, the opponent's progress shouldn't be impeded by the part of the net situated between the singles sticks and the net posts. And players should always have the possibility to hit round the net post winners, as Nadal did at the AO some years ago or at a US Masters 1000 against Del Potro I think. I know in practice a doubles net is no major hindrance when you are on the court, and you need some time to change a doubles net into a singles one; but is it too much of an effort for organizers to use singles nets, especially when no doubles matches are scheduled on the same day? Or does it mar the lawn at Wimbledon?

Upset! Tipsy was expected to give a tough time to Fed in the 3R.
