Ahhh, sucks for him, he was doing so well recently. Wish him speedy recovery.
Lots of top seeds breath a little easier now.

People talks about his mental weakness but i truly believe that more than anything,it's his body which has prevented him to achieve what he should have already achieved with his enormous talent.

The big question is: is the fragility of his body dued to a lack of work in term of fitness or is it simply fatality??

No, it's you who are joke. For Gasquet fans, this is a bigger blow, for grass court tennis lovers, this is a bigger blow, for upset lovers this is bigger blow. It's a special kind of toolness to dispute other's preference. I'd happily go without Nadal for 10 years in Wimbledon if it would mean Gasquet would play this one, as an illustration. How could you say that? I do sorry for Richard that he has to miss Wimbledon due to injury but to say this is a bigger blow to him than it was last year same situation to Nadal is just wrong. Rafa rates Wimbledon very high and to miss on opportunity to open the tournament being the defending champion, walking on court for the first match ... It was really a big blow to him but I think only his fans can understand that.

Of course,it was a big blow to Nadal,i'm not contesting that, but at the same time,he has already won big titles including Wimbledon so missing one big tournament is not that grave as he can still think about everything he achieved.
Gasquet on the other hand has not achieved anything significant so far despite the incredible hype about him so missing a GS at this stage of his career is something terrible, especially considering it's the ONLY slam where he has a chance to shine(Nadal can shine on every four slams) and considering he was coming back to some decent level.
So of course,it's a bigger blow to Gasquet than to Nadal.

Alright to summarize my thoughts. I was not happy about his injury. I was just pointing out why all these things happen to Gasquet. You don't take care of your body (not fit or other problems off the court as examples), bad things happen. Gasquet proved what talent he had in 2005 in Monte-Carlo. He beat Fed and almost Nadal. For some reason he got worse with age. Nothing annoys me more than wasted talent. I feel that is what is happening. Just not thick enough skin to sustain it.

Overall, you're right despite the fact he played probably his best match against Murray during 2 sets and half at Wimbledon 2008.
He was just god-like during those first 2 sets and above anything he showed before or after this match by the way.

Federer was at his prime but on clay,he was average back then.
Nadal was already great on clay but not even close to the Nadal we've known in the last few years.
I mean, remember, guys like Coria or even the guy he met in RG final 2005 gave him huge frights.

He played really better against Murray.....i mean, after 2 sets,he had a ratio something close to 42 winners -7 UEs,which is truly amazing against such a good defender as Murray.
That was ridiculous.

Gasquet is a joke to tennis. All that talent and no results. It's an insult of the biggest kind to say he will be missed more than Nadal of last year.

Calm down, that's just his opinion so it's not an insult to anyone, maybe to you cuz you take it personally? Frankly if you did a poll you would find that quite a few people would rather see Gasquet's game on grass more than Nadal. I know Nadal has accomplished so much more than Gasquet but it seems that some people just can't accept the fact that some of us think Gasquet 's game is more beautiful to watch and that we would rather watch him on grass than Nadal. Get over it.

Now, piss off clueless, classless one or I'll come and annoy you each and every time Nadal withdraws with injury till eternity.

Wow,what a kickass post, respect :).Yeah,Richie will definitely be missed by those of us who love arguably the best hander in the game and true all-court tennis. Was really looking forward watching him play on grass this year.

It doesn't seem to me there's any reason to harass Gasquet fans because he's injured. Injuries happen to every player. I think it must be hard enough to be a Gasquet fan anyway without having people having fun about his injury.

I don't think Cookie Power will be upset by a ban because that seems to be a transparent double account.

For me one of the annoying things about this board is non-fans making up double accounts to pose as the fan of a player they actually dislike. :(

He announced his withdrawal from this year's edition of the tournament due to injuries - inflammation of intercostal muscles plus pains in the back.

Nothing that an ocassional cocaine fix can't fix. No biggie.

Aww.. That sucks! I like Gasquet. He has been injured a lot lately. Hopefully he comes back in better shape than ever after Wimbledon. Too bad he had to miss the tourney though :(

*sigh*

there's a little part of me that, for some reason, keeps waiting for his career to catch fire.

and yet this really is likely to be the way it is with him for the next 6 or 7 years until he quits.

so when did Nalbandian and del Potro take French citizenship?

Don't get my wrong, I am not rejoicing about Argentinans getting injured, too.

Hum... Since when "French players are always injured" has the same meaning as "French players are the only one to get injured"? INTERESTING......

Let me pretend to care enough to advice you to stop e-trolling.

Have a wonderful day.

I feel sad for the guy, he is such a treat to watch at Wimbledon. I loved his epic match against Murray, his match against Federer in 07 semifinal, and so on. This is one slam where he does well on most occasions.

Such a shame.

Richie is one of my favorite players to watch since Nice this year. He could have won against Murray in RG had he any better fitness. Kid needs to grow up, stop doping and get a life! The luck will return. :yeah:

Will it???
The fact with Gasquet is that everytime he had any momentum and was able to achieve some consecutive good results, his body let him down.
He reminds me Samuel Lee Jackson in the movie "Unbreakable".

Stop doping???
Well if he really uses doping products then he for sure doesn't use the good ones when you see how much his fitness sucks!

You officially suck.

AO: 1R (Youzhny)
RG: 1R (Murray)
Wimby: DNP
USO: 1R (Nadal)

2d round isn't ever gonna happen? Incredibly, in 2/3 he has played he has led 2-0 in sets

You act like those are horrible players.

No,he acts like someone who just can't understand how a player can blow so many 2 sets-0 lead in Grand Slams, whatever his opponents were.
