I think there's still a possibility Ward will get a wildcard.

But yeah, english tennis seems to be at its lowest point of all time.

There's no more WCs left. The remaining 3 not awarded has gone to 3 direct entry alternates, is it not? If there's any player pull out from the MD, the spot will give to a LL, right? Or is there somewhere in the Wimby rule book saying they can give it out as WC instead of leave it to the LL lucky draw? Idk, I never read rule book.

Anyway, back to topic... there's 2 Scots in the draw. So as far as I'm concerned, the Brits is being represented. :)

Wow. This really is a little depressing. Who's running things over at the LTA again?

This is good news. Sorry but people like Teimuraz and Nishikori > Boggo.

Handing an English player a WC is like ripping up a hundred dollar bill.

Ward will obviously recieve a wild card.

Would be nice to see Ward draw Lopez again and kick the crap out of him once more. :yeah:

I salute you, LTA dudes. Those things should be banned everywhere and anyone who uses one in public should be castrated, stoned and burned.

Wonder if LTA's retards will ever sort it out.

Anyway, they might as well have given Ward a WC, even though he doesn't really deserve one.

Ward's grass season and Englishness are more than enough for him to deserve a WC. Players get it for much less.

But apparently it's too late.

I'm curious as to why Ward was overlooked, although given that Boggo wasn't awarded one this year I can hardly say I'm surprised (I believe Bogdanovic should have been given a WC by the way). I can't see this being the case next year and the talent pool can hardly get any worse, so I'm going to guess this scenario won't be so easily repeated again.

As for an English champion...only God knows. Forever is a long time, but I would be surprised if we saw an English champion in our lifetime. Tennis in England doesn't seem to be going noticeably forward under the current structure.

I find it sad that the home of the most prestigious tennis event in the world cannot produce a single decent player. How can this be?

 Was it ever high? It's a shame people still bother getting their hopes up.

I think it's hilarious. Plays right into England's loser mentality.
