So how did this match go? Is Benneteau a dark horse for Wimbledon now that he beat grass GOAT Blake?

Benneteau was down 4-5 15-40 on his serve in the first set, but Blake wasn't able to break through. He also displayed some rust in the tiebreaker, spraying some errors on key points. Benneteau had multiple opportunities to make this match easier than it should have been in the 2nd set, but I believe it took him 8 match points and two breaks of serve to pull it out. He can beat dudi, but I think it'll be a tight 3 set match.

time to hang up the raquet for blake. he cant even win one match, let alone consecutively. also, blake is in no form to win wimbly or usopen. he will be top 175-200 player by the end of the year. its been at least 2 months since he has played professionally and yet he loses again. should we give him all the way till usopen to prepare to watch another 1st r. loss?

Oh, he'll make a MM final soon enough with the right draw and people will be talking about how he can get back to his mediocre form if he does so and so.

Blake is currently ranked 110. If he has a lousy summer season before the USO, he might have to go through qualis before they award him a wc or ll. That's a pretty shocking scenario.

Poor blake...
He deserves more.
This is not a golden year for James.
He needs to show everyone that he still knows how to rock

Hasn't played a match in 3 months and was never good on grass in the first place. He is well past his prime but far from done on hardcourts.

I'd forgotten about Blake. Time for a career change.

i remember when blake was on the cover of everything tennis. now he is completely obliterated from it all - no one even knows the guy. now its just about roddick and querry, maybe isner. but def not blake. J-BLOCK is dissolved i thinik because they know he sucks. watch this guy bow out in R1 for wimbly and maybe uso too. put a fork down his back - hes done.

I hope they award him a WC if he doesn't qualify directly. It's a little sad to see his career go downhill after coming through much adversity.

I expected Benneteau to edge past Blake in this match though. The American is 30 and I wouldn't be surprised if this season was his penultimate one. Of course, I'm happy to see him playing as long as he is happy to play.

So true. He may not be my favourite tennis player, but it would be nice to see him have another good run before he bows out.
