Wow, richie21, you really do take any opportunity you can get to mention Gasquet in a thread, even if it is in a poll :yeah:

There always has to be one weird poll option. Anyway I'll be very surprised if only one of them makes a Wimbledon final.

He's hardly the only one and the weirdest one actually gets votes  Del Potro is in Kolya's league, if he hasn't learned to move on grass by now, he's not going to.

You kidding? You actually think Wanka has better chances than Pony?

maybe yes, maybe no, but it is clear he certainly isn't the grass-court mug you think he is. Stan doesn't give two shits about the warm-up tournaments ahead of Wimbledon. yet, he was good enough to reach the 4th round at Wimby last year, where he pushed Murray to five sets before losing 2-6 6-3 6-3 5-7 6-3.

No, I think neither of them has a chance. Wawa has a better chance to make the quarters, though. Hope that makes it clear about their respective chances for the final. ;)

I don't think he's a grass court mug.

Read the poll question and then look at the options. Then tell me which of those players is the only one to never make a GS SF or even QF appearance. Is it really hard to see how much he stands out?

Can I bump this thread when Pony makes the quarters next year? :p

Comparing a tall big server to Davydenko is one hell of a stretch. But even Denko has better chances of making Wimbledon quarters than Wanka. It's not just about the surface, he simply isn't in their league in terms of achievements. You're comparing a journeyman to regular top 5 players.

Why the hell is Delpoo on the list? He won't make it to the QFs let alone a final. He sucks so hard on grass.

How many times have Juan even set foot on a grass court? He's young and may improve with more experience.

Wawrinka managed to take 2 sets to Murray last year at Wimbledon.
A big LOL at all the people who rate guys like Cilic or Tsonga over Gasquet on grass.

Tomas Berdych, apart from a quarterfinal at 2007 Wimby, hasn't had any worth-mentioning results either. still, he managed to reach the semis at Roland Garros last month. anyway, i hope Stan knows that a wise way to overcome the hindrance of a quarterfinal at a grand slam is to understand it well, rather than getting rid of it quickly.

btw, Baghdatis is another player i would have included in this list...

you may think Berdych is a journeyman but you don't, do you?

Except Wawa they all have chances, but Pony, Tsonga and Cilic are longer shots for sure. Murray and Nole will make the final if and when they sort out their minds.

Don't bother, I'll bump it after every delpo loss similar to Davy's. There's only so much a serve can do, otherwise, Karlo would be a staple in at least quarters. Unlike the duo, Wawa can actually play on grass, he just lacks the mindset for a really deep run IMO, but I wouldn't be surprised if he makes QF. Either way, he'll end up with better record that those who can't run on grass.

Oh come on :p. Anyway no player in a Grand Slam draw has 0% chance of making the final, that's illogical. And I think, and most would agree, that Verdasco's chances are greater than Wawa's. :p

There'll be clowns on tour to defeat & no Davis Cup with Captain Douchebag McEnroe.
I guess Roddick will painfully decide to stay on tour.
His pathetic interview when he advertised his respect for Wimbledon was so embarrassing.

I will put my money on Gasquet taking this trophy before Murray. Murray is fast becoming another Henman I'm afraid and as time progresses the British pressure on him to win Wimby will be much greater than any pressure put on Gasquet.

Murray's career has already far surpassed Henman's. Henman never reached a slam final, won only 1 Masters tournament, & was never a fixture in the Top 5.

they cannot step it up and play real grasscourt tennis when it counts against the big players.......murray has turned out into a passive retrieving clown and gasquet cannot do much with just a terrific backhand.......but one thing.......gasquet > murray on grass.......

p.s. djokovic too is not a great finisher at the net by any means but he has the ability and footwork to be aggressive on the surface.......

rafa and fed are still the players to beat on the surface.......nadal is the only one that manages to exhibit such high level of grasscourt tennis with such a weak serve and volleying abilities.......

I agree with you that Murray has already proven to be a bigger name for British tennis than Henman ever managed to be but when I compared him to Henman I was talking specifically about his Wimbledon hopes. Maybe he will prove me wrong.
