Fans and their unrealistic expectations

It always bothers me to hear people say Federer is done or Nadal is no good, or Murray will not challenge for Wimbledon when they lose a match. Sure. Federer should not lose to Hewitt nor should Nadal to Lopez or Murray to Fish. But let's be serious. Everybody loses. Some of these guys have been so consistent. I agree that Murray doesn't even belong in this conversation as he has not won a slam. Still, is it fair for fans to write people off even before the games are played?

Oh, how timely. "Fans" are unrealistic on the days Roger loses. Right. Got it.

Where was this post two days ago when you were ragging on Rafa for losing? Obviously I agree with the sentiment though.

Listen. I admit. I am biased when it comes to Rafa. I don't like the guy. But I don't think he is done, even if I said he was done  I do hope he is done though. Makes sense?

In the case of Federer and Murray, consistently bad since AO. That's the problem. Not one or two dumb losses, but many.

The difference is that Federer won that slam, and he has 16 in overall. Murray is much younger and slamless.

Yes. You're saying the opposite of Federer when he said he didn't hope for it but he believed in it.

You don't believe in it, but you hope for it. :yeah:

Did Roger really say that? How...like Roger. Just loss even more respect for him. And he was a player that just two years ago, I was a fan of. When people where declaring him over, did Rafael say he was done?

He never said anything like that, but it doesn't surprise me to see you actually believing it.

Listen here. Hoping and praying is very powerful. I'll even try Voodoo dulls to see some folks retire from the game. OK maybe not. But no. Rafa is not done. Federer is not done either. The guy just does not hate losing like in the past. And the game is moving on. Is Hewitt an improved version? Not really. Roger should have won it today in 2 sets. He lost, just like he lost to Soderling, just like he lost to Baghdatis, Berdych, and all these people who have no business of beating Roger. But the defeat to Montanos was the worst. That guy has absolutely no business of beating Roger. With that said, if you can't beat Lopez or Fish, you'v got to seriously reevaluate your grass game.

I thought the guy who beat Feds at Estoril was worthy of some respect. :p

Here's a new idea.

You can get banned for wishing death on a player.

You can get banned for wishing death on a poster.

Can you get banned for wishing death on a commie?

No, this was when Rafa went out a RG in '09.

Nothing to do with Rafa being "done." I was teasing Cyrusking. Best not to read too much into it. :p But, roger did say he didn't hope for it, but he believed in it. That is Rafa being beaten before the final.

Yep I know, and he was SPOT-ON, once again, just like Rafa defended Roger back in 2008. ;)

These two great champions know very well that one should never ever count out either of those.
Right on, there, Raf & Rog. VAMOS, HOPP!!! you two!!! :p :rocker2:

Like it matters anyway to players what nameless posters on a forum think of them after a loss.

Fed/Rafa: done,retire,utter crap,mug.

How about "fantastic players, true champions, we'll be sorry when they're gone?..."

Got your point, yeah. ;)
