They should fine Fish for the shit he took on the court at the end of the 2nd set. Oh well, Querrey with another 250 title. Maybe this year he'll make it all the way to the 2nd round at Wimbledon.

Serve dominant, tiebreak, Fish chokes. Serves for second set, *5-4, having not faced a bp the entire match.... loses three in a row.

That's why he's 3/14 in tour level finals.

Only player with titles on clay/grass/hard courts this year and second after Rafa with 3 ATP crowns

The word choke is hopelessly overused at MTF.
But Fish's service game at *5-4 in the second must be the true definition of the word.

Fish had just lost some lonely points on serve up 'til then.
Now he chokes his head off with 4 awful UE.
To makes things worse he mugs up at *5-6 and loses 2 straight service games.
That's some mental strength for ya.

The match? Boring as hell.

BTW, Querrey won a service game in 38 seconds. Fastest ever?

Congratulations for Querrey for the victory. He didn`t have to face the most difficult rivals during the week but he won and that is what it counts. Inspite of losing in the final it was a great week for Mardy too.

Oh well. You shouldn't worry Mr. Fish, you have some nice ranking points at least.

Congrats to Sam!

An impressive win for Sammy. He looked completely relaxed out there and his big serves and heavy groundstrokes were too much for Fish. Mardy looked tight and wasn’t nearly as aggressive as he’d been all week, but much of that was due to Querrey not giving him any short balls. He also looked a bit fatigued and was slipping all over the court.

Overall a great week for American tennis, and with the victory here and the draw in S. Africa, some poetic justice in light of the BP disaster :p .

Well done Sammy http://www.smileyshut.com/smileys/new/Flags/usa-flag-89.gif

When Fish was losing all that weight, did he also lose his nerve? That was a mental capitulation from *5-4 in the second set.

Between Isner, Fish, Roddick, and Querrey, USA could be looking at one of the best collective performances at a grand slam for some time.

Querrey is awesome. 3rd title of the year, all on different surfaces, he just needs to have a big tournament at 500, 1000 or GS stage.

As for Fish. Complete self distruction in that 2nd set.

Congrats to Querrey on yet another title (albeit a 250) on his 3rd different surface for the year - although it'll do sweet FA for his ranking.

Anyone know who has won the most ATP titles without breaking the top 10? (Voo?) If Sammy continues as he as done for the past couple of years he could have a haul of 20+ titles without getting into the top 10. ;)

Vijay Amritraj won 16 titles in the 70s and 80s, and his career high ranking was no. 16 in 1980. I think that's the record although I could well be wrong. The ranking system used back then must have been pretty weird.

Balazs Taroczy won 13 titles in the 70s and 80s and his career high ranking was no. 13 in 1982. Like Amritraj he had the same number of titles to his best ever ranking. Spooky.

More recently the marathon man Schalken won 9 titles in the 90s and early 00s, and his highest ranking was no. 11 in 2003.

Querrey is a far more likeable player than the loathsome individual Fish. I was very happy to see him winning a grass court title, to go with his ones on outdoor hard in 2008-2009 and indoor hard and clay earlier this year.

He won 1 out of his first 4 ATP finals, but has now won 4 out of his last 6, starting with his win over Ball in LA last year, which was his 3rd final in a 4 week period.

Never in doubt that Fish would choke in a tournament final. Had these guys played each other in an earlier round this week, I would have backed Fish to win, but not in a final.

Querry beats Fish. Hewitt beats Federer.

Nadal, Djoker, Murray & Roddick all suck in Queens. I know it's not April 1st so wtf is going on?

naw, i doubt it. his emotional meltdown at RG was a good catharsis and when he flew back home, his pops probably told him to sack up and act like a man........lesson learned :yeah:

Poor Fishy. Totally lost it at 5-3 2nd set. Hope that Ljubitch result didn't damage him.

Winning a tournament will do that.

There's just something about that guy.. He's just not good enough to be that cocky.

Madcap fun. Two big serving slowpokes with incipient footwork and hands of stone, crass errors flying in every conceivable direction in the few rallies that were played, comatose crowd.
