Mourrier and Murray

Why does he still umpire Murray matches after making up the rules as he went along to his detriment in Canada against Nadal in 08*.There's enough umpires that a petty personal bias shouldn't be allowed to be continued.Knowing Murray's temper he may well have earned the enmity but that's irrelevent.

*He told Murray he couldn't have an injury timeout unless he was serving next a "rule" he ignored the next time it came up.

p.s. I'd be grateful if someone told me how to change the thread title.

I understand Murray's disappointment and his arguments. At 3:3 in the final set at 8:30 p.m. the match should have been continued.

On the other hand, XXI century and a centre court without floodlights :o  :o

Murray was standing on the court ready to play. Did they even ask him if he wanted to continue? I didn't realize there is a history between Mourier and Murray.

I suppose there is not much point in paying a lot of money for lights on grass courts, by the time it is getting dark the dew is starting to make the courts slippery as well.

Fish didn't complain about the grass though, even though he had slipped earlier. Maybe because he was ahead at that point. . .

I don't think there is any drama between Mourier and Murray - I mean, Andy's picked a fight with them all at one time or another.

Well even with lights the centre court would be unplayable in the evening/night. Too slippery.

Surely there should be a 20-page thread about the evil English crowd's booing of Fish? No?

He's the only umpire I think this about so even if I'm being unreasonable it's not a blanket whinge just a targetted one.

I only think Mourier dislikes Andy(by my reading of his actions),not that Andy any of cares, agrees or notices necessarily.

It might be me reading something into that initial IMO inexcusanle call than wasn't actually there. He could have refused the request without implying Murray would have been breaking the rules.

Maybe there would be if they booed every time a challenge was made.

IMO it's not a good enough argument to still play this shit with suspended matches but it's the argument here though, in contrary to Roland Garros for instance :o

If I'm right the time's irrelevent he'll still be biased,if I'm wrong that's the reason I should let it go.

I do logically realise it's more likely I'm wrong but I still think it's true, and that he'd have told Murray he couldn't request a break when the opponent was about to serve tonight.

They're using Hawkeye.

Maybe 'cause Fish has well earned his boo-es, after running away in that way. Was he scared to get cold out there?

that was not a classy move from Fish , used to respect the guy , hope Murray comes out firing and wins this now.

Mourier doesn't have many fans in the top 100.

So he shouldn't look after his own interest? He's lost momentum and it's getting dark out there. Why shouldn't they ask that play be halted? Murray would have done the same.

murray is not winning a slam until the great man federer is still playing the game.
fed can prolong the agony for british tennis fans and extend the drought for british tennis in slams.

It wasn't darker than half an hour before. It was only 8.15 pm there! At Wimbledon they play till 9.30  Fish did look at his own interest, but in a way that is just (fishy) gamesmanship.
But I agree, the main fault is at Mourier/Barnes' hands. They should have said Fish to stfu and keep playing (or at least they should have asked Murray what he thought about suspending the game).

Mourier ignores his own rule and let's Nadal take a time out before Petzschner serves.I don't trust Cedric at all.

He at least had a clue that maybe Nadal was getting coaching...don't see too many umpires even thinking that coaching happens.

Fair point.
