Roddick came into the match grumpy...complaining to the umpire before warm-up about the grass being wet. His head didn't even seem in the match until the end of the 1st set. Bad, bad pusher play from Roddick. Couldn't time his shots...couldn't return...and plenty of vintage awful approach shots.

Sela was like a little magical elf out there....almost Santoro-esque. He played with nice variety and feel. Returned serve well, and played like he just wanted it more.

Fun match to watch, lots of winners from Sela but in reality Roddick played very average, midcourt approach shots a plenty and it was far from good enough. Sela deserves big credit for coming through the tough moments though, Roddick certainly kept him honest with the fight at the end and Sela was still good enough with the winners when necessary including a spectacular match point. :yeah:

I know Sela's talented but he has many holes in his game and I think that any top 50 player that lost to him must have played a pretty bad match tactically, let alone a top 20 player, let alone someone who considers himself a contender for Wimbledon, on grass!
Yeah Roddick clearly didn't have the right mood to compete today, the attitude to really try hard like he always has, but there are very few good excuses for why you aren't in this mood, what you said isn't one of them, it's a very lame excuse.

But seriously, Roddick seems to often forget that this is what happens when you try and serve big but do absolutely nothing aggressive from the baseline. Then you put the result into the other guy's hands in many instances.

Even Jeff Tarango called
the prostitute a selfish coach user & mama's boy.
I'm 'shocked' that anyone sees value

He thinks he's
"classy like Arthur Ashe & Billie Jean King".
In reality, he has quiet white trash
role models who never teach him to
do what he loves & not do what they want.
20 years ago, he had no real coach
& never trained on different surfaces.
So he whines as
if the umpire is
'perfect & always doing their job'.

He doesn't think he'll win.
There's no brain and no serve.
Just genetic disorders:
non-athlete & embarrassing mental illness
(doing the opposite of what's good & covering up his failures by flattering the opponents with cringe-inducing praise).
He actually called Murray a flawless player.
Roddick feels selfish, arrogant & guilty if he wins
He obsesses over his 'lucky' wealthy life;
if opponents don't lose all the time, he'll continue being careless on the court &
feeling no responsibility at his age.

This match has absolutely no connection to what may happen at Wimbledon. Andy didn't come to win today and wasn't in a good frame of mind, and Dudi took advantage. Andy didn't volley well, didn't come to the net in correct positions, looked slow around the court, and wasn't offensive enough. A good counter puncher like Dudi will beat Andy playing like he did today.

No Roddick fans should take this result into any consideration for his chances at Wimbledon. If anything, it's good he got his "bad day" out of the way early. Congrats to Dudi on the great performance and the great MP!

Jeremy Chardy (2) Fernando Verdasco Regions Morgan Keegan Championships - Memphis 7-6(4) 6-3 7.1
(q) Matthew Ebden (6) Jurgen Melzer Brisbane International - Brisbane 7-5 6-1 6.92
Marcel Granollers (8) Robin Soderling Australian Open - Melbourne 5-7 2-6 6-4 6-4 6-2 6.54
Fabio Fognini (13) Gael Monfils French Open - Paris 2-6 4-6 7-5 6-4 9-7 6.46

Biggest mug award looks like Soderling, 3 entries in the top20 :-( Djoko has positions 2 and 3 though, so quite a solid claim of his own.

I have to say, I now have fully recovered from Sod choking in that final.

Don't you have to be in a position to win to choke?

Couldn't resist. Sorry...

Wow, some adroit and level-headed tennis out there from Sela; I had no idea the Israeli could be that good.

But Roddick is often made to look clownish at the beginning of the grass season, players like Karol Beck and Alex Bogdanovic(!) have run rings round him in the past. He'll probably still manage to feature in a big way at SW19.

the only thing I look forward when Roddick loses: heya's posts :worship:
This thread is not about me.
Seriously, a deranged tennis player shouldn't play professionally.
I didn't watch him for years; there are no different reactions about him. Roddick can't care less. Is it really a loss?
I talk after I've seen the players' interviews. Misguided people change the subject. Pointing and laughing at others to make themselves look more normal. "My players & I are normal. You're weird."
How old.

Sela has some nice results on grass.

Indeed. It suits his game very well. With his height he loves the low bounce, in particular the ball doesn't get up high on his one-handed backhand. Also he can really hit through the court better here.

Stefanki is on edge man. If Roddick loses in the first round of Wimbledon, it is all over. Let's face it. If you can't beat Dudi Sela with that serve, you can't beat anybody (all the respect to Dudi).
yes because sela is by far tjhe worst player on the tour
