First match for Rafa on grass... He was really attacking Daniel's weak serve out there.

that was beautiful to watch.
i love when rafa has a more attacking mindset from the ground and especially his attacking returns standing on the baseline.
great to watch.

i wish he would play like this on hardcourts aswell.

6 aces.

his serve definitely has more pop on it now and is more accurate with it aswell.
won 92% on 1st serves (24/26)

he takes like 15 seconds between points and bounce the balls once or twice.... max three times.....

who is this guy?

Ahhh Rafa back on grass, been a while but it's always my favourite time of the tennis calendar. Lovely transition from clay, big serving, early ball striking, always looking to move forward. Daniel did ok in a few service games to make it respectable but it was little more than a practice session out there.

rafa doesnt need to run alot on grass, especially on the fast grass at queens. so he doesnt need the extra time.

Nice to see Nadal so good on grass. I think he has what it takes to reach far in Wimbledon, perhaps like SF or something.

Nice quick match. Good to be fresh for Wimbledon and gaining confidence on grass at the same time. Vamos.

who is this guy?

A guy that wanted to get the hell off the court and also get his doubles in before the heavens broke loose. And he's also the No.1 player in the world.:inlove::dance:. Excuse me while I enjoy this while I can.

I was expecting a double bagel, Rafa looked really really sharp out there :yeah:

Really? His first grass match in over 2 years?

Not bad, Rafa, not bad. Some solid stuff out there today. Keep it up!

Why is he playing doubles?

Why is he playing doubles?

He needs points to become number 1 in doubles as well, no?

Why is he playing doubles?

More practice on the grass I guess. Grass is the least taxing surface as the points are so short and it is soft like clay. He should be fine.

Nadal always takes more risks on grass. On this surface he's all that more watchable I guess.

I mean, Rafa looked ready to do it because he was so sharp, hitting the ball so well :hearts:

Henman rolling out of bed would have been a more difficult opponent than this Daniel was

Really? His first grass match in over 2 years?

He played two exos against Wawrinka and Hewitt last year before withdrawing from Wimbledon.

Yes, he wants to become GOAT and needs some more doubles achievements for that ;)

I hope he keeps playing this way in England.

It's great to see him carrying the form over and translating it to grass court tennis, especially after the dispiriting exhos last year.

Basically an intense practice session for Rafa. I thought Marcos played pretty well until the middle of the second set where he caved in, but it was nice to see him coming to net and using the slice a bit also. Rafa is obviously in a different league entirely, served very well today, and was aggressive.

Congrats on the first win in 2 years on grass, Rafa!

2 (DC) + 5 (MC) + 5 (Rome) + 5 (Madrid) + 7 (RG) = 24-0 on clay

5 (Queens) + 7 (Wimbledon) + 1 (Queens) = 13-0 on grass and counting

The problem is not the speed of the court. Grass suits Nadal's attacking game and he loves playing on it. The problem is simply that the freaking artificial hard courts destroy Rafa's knees.

That's a pretty safe expectation considering he's made 3 straight Wimbledon Finals and won the title last time he played it.

That would be kind of odd, considering he's made 3 straight Wimbledon Finals.

No, it would not. Fed made 4 straight FO finals, but still he lost in the QF. Anything can happen.

This. Unreal how the usual rafatards think he won't lose a tennis match ever again since he just beat The Mighty Daniel on grass  delusion at its finest... :o
