Kei went down a break early in each set and couldnt get it back. He had so many chances though in the second set and couldnt convert on any of them.

Easy win for Richard.

I am glad he continues to collect the victories. He needs to improve his rankings to get easier draws. His defeat against Murray was crushing mentally, this win could prove that he is already above this. His game suits grass perfectly.

i think kei could have pused it to 3 if he had just been able to get atleast 2 of those breaks

Still some adaptation needed to get even more aggressive, but Richard served well in tight moments.

while I fully agree with the first (what else to expect?;)) I wholeheartedly disagree with the second. There is much more boring play around than Nishokori's, think about del Potro, Söderling, Verdasco just to name a few.

I actually thought that Nishikori outplayed Richard in many of the rallies. Richard's serve got him out of trouble on more than one occasion.

Richard looked like the most confident player of the two on court yesterday. Once Nishikori regains some form and confidence, he will be an interesting player to watch. :)
