That is what he said to John McEnroe; see ya at the US Open! that is the spirit, he is not even thinking about Wimbledon, at least Wimbly is not worrying him.

I guess he's avoiding the Davis Cup this year. If he's wise enough he should do it.

I'll sleep better knowing this.

Can he win a US Open? I never thought Federer would win a FO so you'd think one year things will open up for him and he'll take the title. It'll be tough, not impossible though, nothing ever is with Rafa.

After two years looking pretty tired and being outplayed in the semis there hopefully his improved scheduling allows him to keep fresh for it.

This is a great attitude from Nadal, because he can go into Wimbledon in brilliant form while not feeling too pressured about winning it because his eye is already on the US Open. That is a very handy situation to be in. He can play Wimbledon more free this way, and that will bring out even greater form.

This is also the way Rafa and Uncle Toni try to divert attention from the upcoming task. It's a very smart PR move to allow him to do what you say and reduce the public scrutiny by downplaying an obviously huge event. And when I say PR, I'm not being cynical or snide. It's great management.

Somehow I assume he was referring to try and win the only Slam he has not won. But you know let's think deep about this :p

Wouldn't surprise me at all. People thought he could never win Wimbledon and look what happened. Same for AO. People thought he would only win FO.

Just look at the number of players you need the be out of form for Nadal to have a shot.

So no one even mentions a player who has won as many US opens as Nadal French opens:o

I think this iis being misinterpreted. John mcenroe told rafa that lots of people in america love him etc etc. It was basically in response to that rafa said that us open is special and he wil see him there. Basically it was an american context.

If you read the questions rafa answers in his times uk bkog -he was asked a question if he could only win either wimbledon or us open this year what would it be- rafa replied wimbledon for sure. Rafa just like oth spaniards give a lot of importance to wimbledon. Wimbledon has always been about tradition and has been elusive to spaniards.

Rafa in my opinion would like to pick a few more wimbledons if he could.
