Anyway I'm really happy, now bring on the grass

No- it's just throughout history it's taken a player with great variation, talent and adaptation to succeed on grass and at Wimbledon. Not to mention movement, where guys such as Safin, Djokovic and the PMK have struggled at. The greatest players win or come close to this trophy in their career.

Grass requires more overall skill to conquer than any other surface, and I'll throw that down at any clay fan for a discussion.

Needless to say that I disagree with you and think that it's clay that requires the most from the players. Good movement, stamina, athleticsm, the ability to play consistant and have a good overall game, not only just a serve and ballbashing. Wilander on Eurosport agreed with me few days ago: "Clay is the best surface".

I'm going with my preferred surface just as you are, but maybe it's both. Someone brought up on the red is going to find grass the ultimate test and an American ballbasher is going to find playing on clay the greatest challenge.

I'm not saying winning Wimbledon is greater than winning RG like Glory has, but the champions of Wimbledon all tend to be far greater than the champions of RG, save for the odd lower tier guy like Pat Cash.

Of course he agreed, he won RG 3 times and never won Wimby singles title and never even won QF there:devil:. He won grass slams though in Australia, but that was different grass and it wasnt so prestigious than Wimby.
I wouldnt mind to watch 2-3 clay tournaments a year, but clay season is so long : MC, Barca,Rome,Madrid RG two weeks, and endless grinding from baseline makes it even more boring, it is always huge relief , when it is over.I started watching tennis in 1980ies and this feeling of relief is always the same.

But we may not get very exciting grass season either this year. So many top players are injured or coming back from injury and are probably rusty. What I would like to see is serious challenge for Fed- Rafa duopoly in Wimby and some other players in final, but more likely it wont happen . Well, perhaps next year then...

I'm glad I read the entire thread before I replied. I respect your right not to care for Rafa's style of playing, but thanks for saying he's isn't a clown.

I'm not following your "far greater" comment, though. To say you're not saying that Wimbledon champions aren't greater than Roland Garros' champions isn't entirely correct.

every-one bar nadull cannot play a high level on it or its their prefered surface.

Huh? What the hell is wrong with having a preferred surface? If you asked Roger, "Okay, Roger, you're playing Rafael tomorrow. On what surface would you prefer?", you don't think he'd pick hard-court, figuring that the easiest on which to beat Rafa? Didn't the Argentenian Davis Cup team try that trick? Who wouldn't pick the surface that worked the best for their game?

And if you don't like it, oh well, sucks for you. Who's forcing you to watch it? I hate Real Madrid and the Yankees. You know what I don't do? I don't watch Real Madrid and the Yankees games. Works wonders for the well-being.
