Fuckin' A.

I hate it when my faves play each other in the 1st round.

I'll say Richie in straights but anything can happen here.

Richard. Why would anyone want to see this as R1 match is a mystery.

A real shame they have to meet so early, but it's still a very promising matchup.

I still don't trust Gazza to go beyond R1 in any tourney. Nishi in 3.

If Kei is in some decent form I'll go with him in 3. If not then Gasquet in 2.

 NID. You are aware, of course, that Kei barely played on grass in his (sadly injury ridden) career.

I hope Nishikori wins. Don't count count the legend out, he was hardly given a chance vs Giraldo because he couldn't play on clay.

Richie in 2. I'd say never NID but that would surely put the jinx on him.

Fortunately this is only 2 out of 3 so Richie can play his lights out tennis for 2 sets (as against Murray in RG this year or Wimbly in '08) and actually win a match before he runs out of gas. Kei doesn't have much of a record on grass but he can get hot.

At Japan Open in 2008, Kei lost tamely to Gasquet 1-6 2-6. He said after the match that he had too much respect for the Frenchman and couldn't play his game.
Fast forward and it's 2010. Kei has come back from the persistent elbow injury, winning two challengers on green clay and won a tough first round at RG. Gasquet won in Bordeaux and Nice, but went out to Murray in five at RG R1.
Gasquet is still the favourite, it's probably his best surface and he has much more experience than Kei. But I like to give Kei some chances too. Unlike 2008, when he was in awe of Gasquet, Kei has toughened mentally and physically.

During RG, Kei was asked on Japanese TV which surface he liked most and his reply was grass---------he used to say it was clay or hard----------he said he thought that grass suited his game after he played Queens two years ago. He then admitted that his most favourite surface changes all the time, but it's nice he has no aversion against any surface and he's looking forward to playing on grass. :)

Gasquet will kill him in straight sets.
Nishikori is nowhere near Gasquet on grass, especially the Gasquet we've seen in last few weeks.

Wrong, Nishikori is very good on grass and will give him a test. Nishikori could even win.
