Would of been a nice event had Robin and Tomas not pulled out, both defo could have been huge threats for the title.

Not such an easy draw for Roger :bounce: :D

Hopefully Federer will go into grass-mode rather than best-of-three mode :p

I expect a Roger v. Youzhny final, with Roger winning 6-3 6-4. I think De Bakker will beat Lleyton, I think Nikolay will lose to Becker/Berrer, Melzer will have a hard time getting prepared to play well in this event and I expect no more than a QF from him. I think Roger will be tested in the QF match by Kohli and his SF match vs. Ferrero/Baghdatis/Petzschner but will come through at the end.

Not sure JCF is up for this (can't gain any points here) but if he is it should be a good QF between him and Baggy.

Having skipped clay season, Denko might be better prepared for grass season this year.

davy said in his interview he plays better then before when he comes back from injury

i havent been watching tennis to long but last year when he came back he won 3 titles shortly after so...

maybe he'll be perpared for making his first ever playoofs appearance at wimbledon

Nikolay isn't very good on grass. He has a harder time timing his shots and his weight of shot doesn't help him on the surface. I think Berrer if he beats Becker can out muscle him in the 2nd round.

Bad draw for the Germans...

Kohli - should beat Stepanek, if he can play here (retired today against Hajek)
Petzschner - I donīt know how Baghdatis is on grass, but it will be difficult
Kiefer - will go out in 1st round for sure
Beck - should win against Stakhovsky, but will lose against Baghdatis
Berrer + Becker - two Germans who are good on grass (or in Berrerīs case should be good on grass) have to play in 1st round, I hope Berrer will win and he could also beat Davy in 2nd round, and could make the semis maybe
Greul - will lose against Davy for sure
Zverev - actually a good draw, but he plays just bad this season so far, maybe he can beat Serra but not more

The best German grasscourt players have to play against each other or a seeded player -.-

I think Kiwi can upset Youzhny but I doubt it. If he had more matches I could see it. He's won the last 3 meetings.

The German with the best chance to go deep is Berrer definitely. His game should translate to grass effectively. I can also see Philipp putting in a good performance vs. Roger.

Poor Kiefer, getting Youzhny in the first round. Hope he can somehow win.

Melzer could reach the final here.

I donīt know how Baghdatis is on grass, but it will be difficult

Baghdatis had good results on grass. In 2007 he reached the final in Halle and lost to Berdych. In 2008 he lost in the QF against Roger.

In 2007 he lost in 5 sets in Wimbledon QF against Djokovic.

grass is arguably Baghdatis' best surface.

Federer should win this easily.

a fact that is undoubtedly going to happen.

I have more trust in Fed on grass than on the red stuff. He will probably win.

i just have a feeling that davy will put in a good performance here and on grass this season

and so far this year my hunches on players have been pretty good

Don't forget Wimbledon semifinal 2006, beat Hewitt and Murray, lost to Nadal.

Sorry, I didn't remember this.

Roger is also playing doubles in Halle together with Yves Allegro. They got a wildcard and will play in the 1st round against Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber, who won the doubles title in Halle one year ago.

That's very good for Nikolay. A SF is definitely possible for him now.

Yeah, a few people have already discussed him pulling out. That's too bad he can't play in front of the home country fans on a surface that suits him well. I can see Becker or Zverev making the SF now.

I see Becker being just as much a problem as Berrer would've been.

Not quite as much IMO because Berrer would have been more attacking than Benjamin is, he would have put an extreme amount of pressure on Nikolay and made him play defensively, which he doesn't like to do. With that said, Becker beat Nikolay on this surface if he's playing well and aggressive, it's a better match-up for Nikolay because he is the better baseliner. Benjamin will have to try to overpower Davy, which he can do.
