Entgleisung in Gleisdorf: Koubek würgt Köllerer!

Koubek insulted Dani and later they dissed each other, finally Dani threw the racquet out of Koubek's hand and Koubek grabbed Dani's throat.

I wish they included the insults :p. I forgot to add it was Stefan who ran up to Dani during the diss so he was clearly the more aggressive one. Dani tried to defend but then Koubek made the fatal error. The rest of the text is about other tennis matches.

Derailing in Gleisdorf: Koubek chokes Köllerer

Wild incident in the first round of the League: Stefan Koubek was disqualified after an insult from Daniel Köllerer.

In this seasons top single clash of the first round of the League between the star-team from TC Gleisdorf and UTC Strassburg a dispute broke out: Stefan Koubek insulted Daniel Köllerer during a side-change at the score of 4:6 and 3:2. After a set of hatefulness the situation derailed - Koubek walked towards Köllerer, the Upper-Austrian knocked the Carinthian the raquet out of his hand, whereon Koubek grabbed Köllerer by the throat. Koubek was immediately disqualified. The other matches will take place as scheduled.

The score between the two teams was until that moment in Gleisdorf in front of 1000 viewers 2:2. Martin Slanar captured for Strassburg an unexpected point against the German Björn Phau. For Gleisdorf scored Martin Fischer (win over Alexander Flock) and Alexander Peya (win over Jiri Novak). tennisnet.com keeps you informed about the newest scores.

http://www.tennisnet.com/de-AT/Klartext/Artikel/4-Juni-2010/Koubek_Tagebuch.aspx

Erstens: Ich muss mich entschuldigen.

Ja. Auch wenn Köllerer im Team steht.

Translation into English (I've done it as quickly as possible so it isn't perfect)

A Day later… for which I apologise. Yet also don’t.

I actually wanted to leave Gleisdorf yesterday and go home. But as the team won the overall tie I wanted to eat with the guys and celebrate our success. I must be honest: no other Liga-Team has ever treated me as well as Glesidorf has. A super team, great atmosphere, a real sense of togetherness. Now, at midday, I am en route from Gleisdorf in the south, together with Alex Peya und Björn Phau. I will train with them at first and then sit myself in front of the television to watch Jürgen (Melzer) (As THIS is currently the most important topic of discussion in Austrian tennis, and not the idiotic incident of yesterday)

But, because of yesterday:

The match against Köllerer began relatively normally, well...as normally as any match against Köllerer can. From the beginning he displayed ‘pushing’ at its best – there was no sign of any ‘burn-out’ - he actually played very well. Having broken serve at 3:1 I celebrated loudly with a ‘Come on!’. I hadn’t been in the match up until then so this was an important moment.

He seemed to take this as an attempt at provocation.

He then immediately broke back to make it 3:2. At the change of ends one word led to another. He began the discussion with “You need to irritate me” - to which I responded. It’s not right that the guy is focused solely on himself, is easily offended and everyone and everything annoys him. So, during the entire change of ends we exchanged crossed-words. However the entire incident would have soon disappeared if he had been able to keep his mouth shut as I was walking to my side of the court. However he called after me with ‘Du Wixer’ (‘You wanker’).

Dealing with this is not easy. It has to stop. The guy uses every opportunity to irritate, provoke, always has an excuse and chooses to only ever tell one side of the story. Most of it is below the belt.

I went over to him, grabbed him by the throat and pushed him back into his chair.

Every spectator in Gleisdorf had seen and heard what had happened. Unfortunately, the referee hadn’t. I’ve no idea how he hadn’t heard it. Evidently, football isn’t the only sport in Austria that has refereeing problems. I mean, he was only sitting 1 meter away!

Now, one has surely already asked: ‘What does one have to put up with from Daniel Köllerer?’. It will always remain this way: after the match he said nothing and is once again merely the victim. This time we will hear that he was half strangled to death and that his life was in danger. I am surprised that he didn’t call for the Christophorus-Hubschrauber (Austrian Air Ambulance). A few days ago he was burnt out – and now it’s as if it never happened. Burn-out is a serious condition that is treated by doctors. Either he is sick, and should seek treatment. Or he is healthy, and should play. So that one can stand with him on a tennis court and not be embarrassed.

I had to get that out of my system.

Now that I have slept on the whole thing I am now able to see things much more clearly:

Firstly, I must apologize. To my teammates, team-captain and the spectators. I should not have allowed myself to have been provoked. What I did does not belong on a tennis court.

Secondly, I would like to thank the guys from my team. The way in which they came through yesterday and still managed to win the tie, that was team spirit at its finest.

Thirdly: I’m not going to apologise to Daniel Köllerer. What he did again yesterday was, taking into consideration his history, too much. A few people have asked me whether I can contemplate ever playing with him again in the Davis Cup team.

To be clear: I am not going to sit at a table with the guy, who has provoked me in this way, and pretend that nothing has happened. But when playing for Austria? Yes. Even if Köllerer is in the team.

Köllerer is a mug, when Koubek grabbed his throat he didn't do anything, pathetic for a guy being grabbed in the throat without reaction :o Actually it's embarrassing that Koubek near the end of his career was involved in this situation.
