~*BGT*~ 05-24-2010, 09:06 PM ImmzB stepped down so I'll do it :D ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:11 PM Great! :) All the best to Gasquet in Queens, certinaly can reach the QF atleast. Top 8 Seeds get a BYE, so he won't be facing any of them in the 1st Round. Hope he does well here, so he won't need to play Eastbourne! But if he doesn't do well here, I don't think he will play Eastbourne as he won't be getting a Wild-Card and if he want's to use the SE, he has to atleast make the SF in Queens. Anyways all the best to Gasquet in Queens & Wimbledon :) ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:19 PM If Gasquet looses early in the Doubles at R.G, I hope to catch him practsing at Queens on the Saturday or Sunday during the Qualifiers. Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 09:34 PM Are the courts even all sorted yet at Queens. Dani I was hoping you'd start this thread. Hopefully you'll be his good luck charm. ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:36 PM Are the courts even all sorted yet at Queens. Not sure, if there not they will be done very soon. Puschkin 05-24-2010, 09:36 PM Love the new thread!:D PinkFeatherBoa 05-24-2010, 09:40 PM Looking forward to the return to Grass so much. God, 2009 was rubbish without it. Annual stalking from me returns. :bounce:  ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:41 PM Anyone going to Queens? Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 09:42 PM Where will you be stalking? I was thinking of doing some Eastbourne stalking but now the stupid organisers have def scuppered that I might pop to Queens quallies on the sunday on the off chance he is there practising. That's if I'm not shattered I'm on holiday next week and don't get back until the saturday night. PinkFeatherBoa 05-24-2010, 09:43 PM Anyone going to Queens? Yes, I'll be there as long as Richie is there, well I already bought Thursday and Friday tickets in advance. Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 09:44 PM Are you going to wimbledon? I am going with some friends but that is later in the week and with Richard's ranking he might be gone by then so I'm thinking I might go on the monday or tuesday as well if he is playing. Depends on the order of play. ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:46 PM Yes, I'll be there as long as Richie is there, well I already bought Thursday and Friday tickets in advance. Cool :) I guess he will be there on the Saturday and Sunday during the Qualifiers if he looses in the Doubles in Roland Garros. It will be amazing to watch him Practise from like Metres away! PinkFeatherBoa 05-24-2010, 09:47 PM Yes Tori, I should be at Wimbledon as well, certainly during the first week. @Immz Yeah I find Queens is a great venue for watching him practise, you can get so close there and at Qualie weekend the grounds aren't very busy at all. Certainly enjoyed watching his hour long practises in 2008. ~*BGT*~ 05-24-2010, 09:48 PM Richard should ask for a WC for this challenger in Nottingham if he and Grosjean go out early. Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 09:49 PM You are ok though Imran you are a lot nearer to Queens than me. Last year on the saturday it poured with rain and so on the sunday I didn't want to risk it. I'm lucky because during Wimbledon week I'm staying nearer London anyway for other reasons so it's just a short hop on the train. Otherwise it's a 6 hour round trip for me which would suck if it was rained off and I didn't get to see anything. So if it's sunny I'll go to quallies but if it's cloudy I don't think it'll happen. Dani, I was kind of hoping he would do that if they go out. I can get to Nottingham fairly easily ;). I'm away part of next week but I could go there on the sunday and monday ;) I'd rather he won Roland doubs though. ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:50 PM I was thinking of going to Wimbledon this year but will be in Pakistan :( For Wimbledon u have to Quee up really early don't u? Like around 07.00? ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:55 PM Richard should ask for a WC for this challenger in Nottingham if he and Grosjean go out early. Maybe....80 Points up for grabs...Could do his Ranking good as he will try to be Seeded for Wimbledon. You are ok though Imran you are a lot nearer to Queens than me. Yh, I was there last year on the Saturday as due to the Rain, the Qualifiers were played Indoors :( Yh I hope this year it's Sunny and get to watch some Tennis :) Last year I saw A.Falla outside the Entrance  Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 09:55 PM Before then. The queue goes up massively between 6 and 7am. Last year on one of the days I was there I heard that people who queued from 7.30 didn't get in all day. I got there at about 5.50 both days and the first day got just grounds tickets and the second day I was somehow about 500 places in front in the queue and I got offered Court 1 or court 2 tickets and chose court 2. ImmzB 05-24-2010, 09:57 PM My Friend went last year he was there around 09.00 and he got in around 17.00, he got to see the Querrey v Cilic match. The Quees are LOOOOOONG Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 10:00 PM well that's why it's worth going in at 6 full day of play and you can queue for resale or people are nice enough just to give you their show court ticket when they leave. ImmzB 05-24-2010, 10:00 PM Looking at the Nottingham Entry List, If Gasquet does play he should Win that Title. If Gasquet does go out in the Doubles this week, I wouldn't play the Nottingham Challenger. Let him get another Week's rest and be fully Fit for Queens & Wimbledon :) Puschkin 05-24-2010, 10:02 PM Richard should ask for a WC for this challenger in Nottingham if he and Grosjean go out early. It is worth only 75 points for the title, isn't it? That's not worth the effort, as his best non-countable result is already at 45! Better to have some fun with Séb! ImmzB 05-24-2010, 10:02 PM well that's why it's worth going in at 6 full day of play and you can queue for resale or people are nice enough just to give you their show court ticket when they leave. Yeah. That's what happened to my Mate, somone gave them free Tickets. It takes the piss, if u Quee up at really early in the Morning and get in around 17.00.... Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 10:03 PM I'd agree normally but 80 points plus a couple of rounds at queens = a wimbledon seeding if there are a few withdrawals. Puschkin 05-24-2010, 10:05 PM I'd agree normally but 80 points plus a couple of rounds at queens = a wimbledon seeding if there are a few withdrawals. He would only get 80-45 = 35 points! ImmzB 05-24-2010, 10:08 PM He would only get 80-45 = 35 points! I don't think he needs to play it & with only getting 35 Points :( ImmzB 05-24-2010, 10:11 PM Gasquet will probaly play his Doubles 1st Round on Thursday, if he Looses, I guess he will leave England on Friday and arrive on the same day. Then most probaly play his 1st Round on Tuesday. An extra week off would be much better. Cloudygirl 05-24-2010, 10:23 PM Meh you're right, I blame the stupid atp for having such a short grass court season with so few tournaments and Halle and Queens only being 250s :( I wonder if as he isn't playing Eastbourne could he ask for a wild card at Hertogenbosch their draw isn't that great either or play quallies. I bet he won't rest the week before. Kournikovaism 05-25-2010, 12:02 AM Glad he isn't playing Eastbourne, it is just windy all the time :o Its annoying to watch. Also the organisers there put men's matches as a priority despite it being a Premier event for the WTA:rolleyes: Davodus 05-25-2010, 06:08 AM Meh you're right, I blame the stupid atp for having such a short grass court season with so few tournaments and Halle and Queens only being 250s :( I wonder if as he isn't playing Eastbourne could he ask for a wild card at Hertogenbosch their draw isn't that great either or play quallies. I bet he won't rest the week before. I agree, I love grass court tennis, it's my favourite kind...and they only have the 2 pre-Wimbledon weeks and then Wimbledon..only 250 tournaments as well. It would be nice to have a week or two more of grass court play, and at least 1 500 in there. Bad luck if grass is your main surface :o Cloudygirl 05-25-2010, 06:19 AM If there was a grass masters then people like Richard and perhaps Roddick would be a lot higher ranked I think. If I miss seeing Richard at Wimbledon this year (which is possible if he faces a seed on a show court) I will be so pissed off. :( I love grass too. Davodus 05-25-2010, 06:31 AM If there was a grass masters then people like Richard and perhaps Roddick would be a lot higher ranked I think. If I miss seeing Richard at Wimbledon this year (which is possible if he faces a seed on a show court) I will be so pissed off. :( I love grass too. I think there should be a masters on grass, there is one on every other surface. I think that's why a lot of clay specialists are overranked, to be honest. Unfortunately, I think it will never change. Hopefully he can get an easy first round for once and you can see him! Cloudygirl 05-25-2010, 06:40 AM I hope so, on an outside court where I can sit really near the front. Surely that's not too much to ask :p But even if he pulls an easy first round knowing my luck it will be Boggo or someone so it'll be on court 2 or court 1. Davodus 05-25-2010, 06:43 AM I hope so, on an outside court where I can sit really near the front. Surely that's not too much to ask :p But even if he pulls an easy first round knowing my luck it will be Boggo or someone so it'll be on court 2 or court 1. that's probably what will happen...just because you don't want it to ;) I want him to draw Rochus :p ImmzB 05-25-2010, 06:45 AM With his confidence back, he's defiantly going to be a Threat @ Queens & Wimbldon :) If he is Unseeded @ Wimbledon, no Top Seed or any Seed would want to Draw Gasquet in the 1st Round! There are less better Grass Court Players then better Clay Court Players. I hope he can be Seeded for Wimbledon! ImmzB 05-25-2010, 06:46 AM I want him to draw Rochus :p Or 1 of the Wild-Cards, who always loose in the 1st Round :D Getta 05-25-2010, 09:07 PM Meh you're right, I blame the stupid atp for having such a short grass court season with so few tournaments and Halle and Queens only being 250s :( yeah, they should change Queens and Halle to 500. I wonder if as he isn't playing Eastbourne could he ask for a wild card at Hertogenbosch their draw isn't that great either or play quallies. I bet he won't rest the week before. i was wondering the same thing. difference in travel distance is almost negligible after all. and, the draw in Rosmalen is rather weak. ImmzB 05-26-2010, 03:39 PM Gasquet has not recieved a Wild-Card for Nottingham. Kournikovaism 05-26-2010, 04:04 PM Hopefully he can draw some crap British WC. oranges 05-26-2010, 04:09 PM Am I the only one who's not too keen on him playing both Queens and the week before Wimby? That said, Eastbourne organizers are feeble-minded for not giving him WC, both due to his grass pedigree and the crowd he would attract Kournikovaism 05-26-2010, 04:18 PM Eastbourne Organisers are stupid. I hate that tournament, the wind is so frustrating and the organisers seem to forget that it is a WTA tournament first and an ATP one second. s'Hertogenbosch would be better than Eastbourne imo. ImmzB 05-26-2010, 04:20 PM Am I the only one who's not too keen on him playing both Queens and the week before Wimby? That said, Eastbourne organizers are feeble-minded for not giving him WC, both due to his grass pedigree and the crowd he would attract I'm with you, I'm not keen on him playing Eastbourne. If he does good at Queens, I don't think he needs to play Eastbourne. If he reaches the SF in Queens, he can get the SE for Eastbourne and I think he may go to Eastbourne. I would only want him to play Queens. If he looses in the 1st Round, it wouldn't be bad to play Eastbourne but he can't get in unless there are Withdrawls. Organizers are not giving him a Wild-Card. Vlad1980 05-26-2010, 05:36 PM I don't think Richard should play a week before Wimbledon. This is very different from RG since he probably will get to play at least couple matches at Queens and since he has played so many matches on clay, he really is match tough right now. His last week, he should just head out to Wimbledon grounds and practice. Unlike RG, he is a threat to go deep on grass and if he plays well, rested and confident, there are only two players I feel he would have little chance against and that is Federer and Nadal. Anyone else, I feel like he can beat. Being seeded is not that important at Wimbledon, and given his 07 and 08 results, he may actually get seeded. At this point, he should concentrate on 500, 1000 and GS events mostly... he has plenty of points filled in 250 events, so even if he wants to enter a tournament right before GS, he should treat it as practice, win a match, tank and go to Wimbledon.. Puschkin 05-26-2010, 05:52 PM Gasquet has not recieved a Wild-Card for Nottingham. Nottingham? Did he ask for one? Nottingham is a challenger next week,I doubt he'd need a WC to enter. The wildcard Richard was refused is Eastbourne, the successor tourney of Nottingham which was previously an ATP event. Puschkin 05-26-2010, 06:02 PM I don't think Richard should play a week before Wimbledon. I totally agree. At this point, he should concentrate on 500, 1000 and GS events mostly. He is not quite there to enter directly into 1000 Events, so some points are still needed somewhere, primarily from Wimbledon and a bunch of it. so even if he wants to enter a tournament right before GS, he should treat it as practice, win a match, tank and go to Wimbledon. Tanking would not fit the "new" Richard. ;) reggie1 05-26-2010, 06:12 PM I'm getting so excited for the Grass season, loving Reading this thread. Optimism is such a great feeling and I really have high hopes for him on grass. I've always got the feeling that he likes playing in England. He's really popular here (people love him and his game) and the English commentators are very complimentary the majority of the time apart from a few cliches that they trot out every now and again. ImmzB 05-26-2010, 06:16 PM Nottingham? Did he ask for one? Nottingham is a challenger next week,I doubt he'd need a WC to enter. The wildcard Richard was refused is Eastbourne, the successor tourney of Nottingham which was previously an ATP event. BGT was saying he should ask for a Wild-Card for Nottingham if he and Grosjean go out early in RG. So I was just letting her know, they have given out the Wild-Cards. ImmzB 05-26-2010, 06:18 PM Same, really excited about the Grass Court Season, starting in Queens and then the BIG 1 WIMBLEDON! Inshallah this will be Gasquet's Grass Season! :) Puschkin 05-26-2010, 06:27 PM So I was just letting her know, they have given out the Wild-Cards.[/B] Sorry, I misunderstood your post, in the sense that he asked for one and it was not given to him. I feel he is overdue for a week of rest, Gabriel will ensure that things won't get too cosy and also think about the summer where to play and when. And I am almost certain it will be DC for him again after Wimby. Vlad1980 05-26-2010, 07:25 PM I'm getting so excited for the Grass season, loving Reading this thread. Watching Richard play on grass is a unique experience, almost no one else plays the same way. Really looking forward to that. Clay season was very decent and gave hope, but this grass season, he should be able to perform to his true potential. It has been a while since Richard won a GS match.. almost a year and half.. and it has been 2 years since he reached second week. He is long overdue. oranges 05-26-2010, 07:34 PM He's long overdue a decent GS draw as well. I wouldn't mind Davydenko in 1st or 2nd round to inherit his draw  Puschkin 05-28-2010, 09:40 AM http://www.welovetennis.fr/richard-gasquet/23455-reprise-de-l-entrainement-jeudi-prochain Richard Gasquet: Reprise de l'entrainement jeudi Richard Gasquet a dû déclarer forfait pour l'épreuve de double à Roland Garros qu'il devait disputer avec Sébastien Grosjean. Ce dernier expliquait hier que le Biterrois s'était bloqué le dos et avait également mal à la cuisse et au coude. Richard Gasquet va désormais prendre quelques jours de repos et reprendra l'entraînement sur gazon jeudi prochain. Richard will take some rest and take up practise on grass next Thursday. ImmzB 05-28-2010, 10:15 AM So Richard will be in England on Thursday? Cloudygirl 05-28-2010, 07:00 PM Not necessarily. Doesn't he normally train on grass courts in Paris? I'm sure he does. I'm hoping he will be there for Sunday though. I'm so tempted to go to quallies. reggie1 05-29-2010, 12:05 PM I saw a video a few years ago on YouTube of him practicing at La gardere (haven't spelt that in so long so I may have spelt it wrong) training centre on grass courts so I think you're right T. ImmzB 05-29-2010, 01:21 PM I'm hoping he's there on Saturday :) I know we didn't expect Gasquet to be on the Entry List for Newport, he isn't on there. acd692 05-31-2010, 12:06 AM so when does richard play again? gasquetswife 05-31-2010, 04:05 AM I'm getting so excited for the Grass season, loving Reading this thread. He's really popular here (people love him and his game) and the English commentators are very complimentary the majority of the time apart from a few cliches that they trot out every now and again. Yeah he seems to dread Roland Garros :awww: I think he will have more confidence playing in a tournament that he went far in previously Cloudygirl 05-31-2010, 06:58 AM Queens next week. Then Wimbledon. ImmzB 05-31-2010, 11:28 AM How far does everyone think Gasquet will get in Queens? I know the Draw isn't out but.....your predictions. I think he can defiantly reach the QF ateast and then from there he can go on...... reggie1 05-31-2010, 04:40 PM I think a QF at least as long as he doesn't get a horrendous draw. I think grass court tournies like him though as knowing how to play with flair on grass is a dying art, so I'm hoping Queens and Wimbledon will be kind. He is also a crowd puller here Cloudygirl 05-31-2010, 04:47 PM depends on where Nadal and Murray are in that draw. – F. Ra. Puschkin 06-01-2010, 07:45 AM The news in L'Equipe, he took a whole week to rest and will start practicing on grass tomorrow: Thanks for the news. :wavey: Two days earlier than WLT had reported last week. scmom 06-01-2010, 07:24 PM thanks for the article - that is good news but good grief - google translate is just awful I know they meant that Gasquet is fresh but the translation is "Gasquet is green " :) ImmzB 06-01-2010, 09:29 PM Kool. ALLEZ GASQUET! ImmzB 06-02-2010, 04:24 PM The Draw for Queens is at 16.00 on Saturday ImmzB 06-03-2010, 11:28 AM I'm sure i'm not the only 1 saying...."Queens start now" LOL reggie1 06-03-2010, 12:47 PM Yes, now would be good Immran, because I'm off work because of school holidays. Yeah and Eurosport are broadcasting it aswell. GasquetGulbis 06-03-2010, 04:30 PM Is there any chance that Gasquet will get a seeding for Queens. I know a few top players have already pulled out. ImmzB 06-03-2010, 05:02 PM Queens Seeding: 1. R.Nadal 2. N.Djokovic 3. A.Murray 4. A.Roddick 5. M.Cilic 6. G.Monfils 7. S.Querrey 8. F.Lopez 9. J.Tipsarevic 10. R.Gasquet 11. M.Llodra 12. K.Kubot 13. D.Sela 14. 15. 16. This is how I've got it with all the Withdrawls. If anyone can Correct me, please do. ImmzB 06-03-2010, 09:50 PM Gulbis & Verdasco Withdrew ImmzB 06-04-2010, 01:50 PM To me, At the moment Gasquet will stand as the 10th Seed. ImmzB 06-05-2010, 12:53 PM Queens Draw today at 16.00 Local Time :) ~*BGT*~ 06-05-2010, 03:14 PM They should be doing it right now? Davodus 06-05-2010, 03:37 PM Gasquet vs. Nishikori first round and possibly winner against Gael Monfils in round three. From twitter oranges 06-05-2010, 03:47 PM Ugh, that luck with the draw again Gretchen. 06-05-2010, 04:21 PM I think he will beat Nishikori, last time they played it was pretty straightforward and that was on hard courts! As for Monfils, I think he is injured, sooo it's not that bad I guess, it all depends on how he is feeling. Davodus 06-05-2010, 04:32 PM I also think Monfils is terrible on grass, so it's not the worst draw I don't think. Hopefully he can get through Nishikori, and then make a bit of a run. oranges 06-05-2010, 04:55 PM I think he will beat Nishikori, last time they played it was pretty straightforward and that was on hard courts! Me too, but it's still rotten luck. Plus, I'd like to see more of Kei. Monfils doesn't bother me in any way, though. One of the better seeds to draw IMO scmom 06-05-2010, 04:59 PM realistically , this is a pretty good draw . No one in that whole quarter - with the exception of Roddick - should be able to compete with Gasquet on grass. Nishikori just played his first match in months , and lost . Monfils is not too good on grass historically and is nursing some vague ailments still .Scheuttler ? - please . I totally prefer this draw to getting some monster server , like an Isner or a Karlovic , in the early rounds .And , we know that Richard can beat Roddick on grass - it has happened before . But don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves. First he must focus and win over Nishikori - don't be complacent or things won't work out well. At least he will not have to see Murray for the early part of the event . I am looking forward to seeing him play on grass again - he has a wonderful grass court game , and this looks like he should be able to put together a few good wins - build some confidence . ImmzB 06-05-2010, 05:40 PM Good Draw for Gasquet. Nishikori could be a tough one but I expect Gasquet to get through it. If Gasquet and Monfils do play, Gasquet would start as the favourite IMO and it's on Grass. I reckon he is in London, he could be playing on Monday. I hope he is there tommorow, I'm going tommorow so hope to catch him practsing :) Gretchen. 06-05-2010, 09:50 PM Tori, he is there. Jenny(PinkfeatherBoa) just posted on twitter that she saw him practicing today! Cloudygirl 06-05-2010, 10:01 PM maybe I'll go then. What time does Queens club open tomorrow and how much are quallies this year Imran? Is it just queuing like last year. Depends on how awake i am tomorrow. I'm not getting up at 5am. I had about 3 hours of sleep last night thanks to stupid Irish boys. ImmzB 06-05-2010, 10:04 PM maybe I'll go then. What time does Queens club open tomorrow and how much are quallies this year Imran? Tommorow it starts at 11.00 First 500 tickets are free  Not sure on the Queuing. I should of went today, Gasquet was there  PinkFeatherBoa 06-05-2010, 11:21 PM Ironic how he was sharing a practise court with Nishikori the hour before the draw came out! Well yes as Jen said, I was at Queens today watching Richie practise. I had perfect timing because I figured, "oh there will be a change of players at about 3pm" so I went down to the main practise courts and first saw Benneteau arriving. So I was focusing on him hitting for a couple of minutes and then suddenly realised that Richard was up the other end of the court and I hadn't noticed or seen him arrive at all! Then came the really silly part- I was so overwhelmed to see him back on grass that I got all choked up and almost felt like crying, so I sat down below the court level to compose myself. So many emotions just to see him back on grass you can't imagine, there was times last year I couldn't imagine seeing him at Queens again so soon. Anyway, emotion aside, he hit for about an hour. They were just going through standard drills, groundstrokes, volleying, smashes and serve but of course when Richard is doing it, it is always more fun. He was there with just Markus and they were talking mostly in french (but I really struggle with Markus' French LOL). Anyway, it was a fairly laid-back session but he was definitely working hard! I have positive feelings from watching him practise. For hair police, hair was looking amazing (you can see some pics at my Twitter http://twitter.com/pfboa). I have a lot more pics to come but you will all have to be patient with me uploading during the tournament. Anyway, after the hour was done he thanked Julien for the practise and they chatted for a while, with Courteau and Markus. Then Julien left and Richard and Markus found a corner of the practise court and they spent about 30mins during footwork drills, running from side to side and getting into position for the ball. This was interesting to watch. One funny/cute moment was when Markus said "and now this one is a MP!" and that was when they ended the practise. :awww: Then, of course I wanted to talk with Richard but I had so many things going round in my head that I wanted to say and I was also worrying about coming across as "crazy" fan instead of "caring" fan! So in the end I totally choked up and just wished him "bonne chance" and he smiled and said "Merci". If I see him again, I promise I'm going to say something more than that but today I was just too overwhelmed for so many reasons. Seeing him at RG was great but seeing him back on grass was just an indescribable feeling! Cloudygirl 06-05-2010, 11:31 PM Are you going again tomorrow? Am very jealous are you there all week? I'm working so if I don't go tomorrow won't have a chance to see tennis until Wimby. Am liking the sound of the drills etc. Richard on grass is :hearts::hearts: PinkFeatherBoa 06-05-2010, 11:36 PM Are you going again tomorrow? Am very jealous are you there all week? I'm working so if I don't go tomorrow won't have a chance to see tennis until Wimby. I might be there tomorrow yes and yes, probably until Friday (unless good things happen and he makes semis/final). This is my last summer as a student so I'm making the most of it! Cloudygirl 06-05-2010, 11:39 PM Are the grounds open all day tomorrow? I know there is only one qually match on each court tomorrow. Not worth me going unless it's open all day as it's a 3/4 hour round trip for me. PinkFeatherBoa 06-05-2010, 11:43 PM Are the grounds open all day tomorrow? I know there is only one qually match on each court tomorrow. Not worth me going unless it's open all day as it's a 3/4 hour round trip for me. They definitely keep them open later than when the matches finish but I wouldn't say "all day". Usually on a Sunday they finish at around 4-5pm. When I say finish, I mean telling people to leave. I'm so glad it's only a 40 min journey for me but I did do a 7 hour round trip to go to Nottingham CH on Thursday! Cloudygirl 06-05-2010, 11:59 PM I would have gone to Nottingham if I hadn't been on holiday. I might well go tomorrow then. I can deal with 4/5 pm. Also Tursunov, Mahut and Dancevic are playing tomorrow so def not a wash out even if I don't see Richard. Is there much of a queue to get in or is it just a case of turning up. My train won't get in much before 11 if I do go. silverwhite 06-06-2010, 12:19 AM Oh no. I like Kei :( Nishikori just played his first match in months , and lost . He won 2 clay challengers and a round in Paris  Cloudygirl 06-06-2010, 12:30 AM Also didn't he give Rafa a good match in Queens 08. Not an easy job for Richie at all imo. Kei is on the comeback trail too. PinkFeatherBoa 06-06-2010, 12:42 AM I don't like that it's against Kei either, silverwhite. One of my fave players in the draw. I would have gone to Nottingham if I hadn't been on holiday. I might well go tomorrow then. I can deal with 4/5 pm. My train won't get in much before 11 if I do go. Nooo, no queuing involved, just turn up and you can get in fine. Hope you can make it. Qualies line-up is nice indeed. Cloudygirl 06-06-2010, 12:47 AM well if you spot someone staring intently at Richard's backhand at his practice tomorrow then it might be me ;) Cloudygirl 06-06-2010, 06:07 AM :o much as I love him, I woke up an hour ago and decided that the opportunity to sleep more won (plus the trains don't start from home today until 10am so I would have had to drive part way there). I'm getting old and am way too tired from my holiday. :o:o:o Puschkin 06-06-2010, 01:03 PM I had so many things going round in my head that I wanted to say and I was also worrying about coming across as "crazy" fan instead of "caring" fan! So in the end I totally choked up and just wished him "bonne chance" and he smiled and said "Merci". Many thanks for your lovely report and "bonne chance" next time. ;) ImmzB 06-06-2010, 02:21 PM I saw Richie practsing today with G.Monfils He was hitting his Ground stokes, volleying and Serving Then he and Monfils played a little match which ended 2-2 after that he had finished his session. I said to him "You have the best Single Handed-Back Hand" and he replied "Thank you" Then my friend said "Please win this Tournament" and he replied "I will try" I also got a Photo with him :) Cloudygirl 06-06-2010, 02:26 PM Not the right place to ask but how did Gael's game look? ImmzB 06-06-2010, 02:44 PM Not the right place to ask but how did Gael's game look? He actually looked good just like Richie. Could be a craker of a 3rd Round if they both do play. When they were playing the proper points, it was impressive to watch and that BH DTL hit was an absolute beauty! Richard's serve also looked impressive today, when he was really hitting through it, it was making a wonderful 'pop' sound. I always think it's a good sign when his serve looks good, which is why I'm noting it, so now I'm really excited for this tournament to start. I didn't attempt to speak with Richie today because I was at the far end of the court from where the players exit but I did speak to Gael who was lovely as ever. :) ImmzB 06-06-2010, 05:22 PM Awww you were there too? Now, reports on eye colour and height please  Is he 6 foot 1? Are they eyes green or hazel, everyone who has seen him usually has differing opinions. Cloudygirl 06-06-2010, 07:02 PM yes and how good is his current hair cut and was there any sign of any caps also any sign of any hair thinning ;). Thanks Vicky for re-focusing me on the essentials can't believe I forgot to ask. ImmzB 06-06-2010, 07:07 PM LoooL I think he around 6 foot. Eye colour, not to sure, I wasn't concentrating to much on the eyes  I like his new hair-cut, it suits him  ALLEZ GASQUET! Schu 06-06-2010, 07:16 PM NEW Hair cut? We should have "Gasquetaires" badges or something so we can find each other. ;) I didn't see Gael's brother, no! Where was he? Yeah, that was funny and yes, tomorrow the real tournament begins, can't wait. (trying to hold back expectations really). Oh Immran and Jen, I am so pleased that you both got to see him. Now, reports on eye colour and height please  Is he 6 foot 1? Are they eyes green or hazel, everyone who has seen him usually has differing opinions. Eyes are more green than brown but a mixture of both, I think. I think he is about 6ft, 6ft 1 isn't that unrealistic an estimate though. scmom 06-07-2010, 12:03 AM so glad you are getting to see him in person. Enjoying your reports and looking forward to any photos you may be able to share . Good luck tomorrow to Richard , and enjoy the event I see the eye color , height debate rages on I maintain the eyes are hazel ( a mix of green and brown that changes depending on what he wears ) and his height is closer to 6 feet than anything above that . He is looking extremely fit since he has started his work with Gabriel Markus though ! Naina 06-07-2010, 10:48 AM Jen your pictures are absolute beauties :inlove: thanks a million. And great stories. Have fun at the tournament :D tennisc 06-07-2010, 11:02 AM Thanks for the reports. You are lucky to be able to see him in person and talk to him! Hope he has a wonderful tournament and wins a lot of matches, all of them, actually! Don't know about the rest of you, but I am really happy that Rafa won RG again. He's been through so much with injuries and family problems, it was nice to see him win again. I'll always remember how he supported Richard last year. ImmzB 06-07-2010, 03:06 PM Gasquet takes the 1st Set 6-3 :) case 06-07-2010, 03:19 PM Gasquet takes the 1st Set 6-3 :) :wavey: you still here? gasquet breaks! kei is good - havent seen him play before Puschkin 06-07-2010, 03:26 PM I only came home at the start of the second set, my feelings: good signs, but still some adaptation needed for grass. case 06-07-2010, 03:36 PM gasquet does look a little clumsy.that should end with some more grass time. reggie1 06-07-2010, 03:39 PM It must be very humid there as both players seem to be feeling the heat. I feel the same as you Puschkin, mainly good but the forehand seems to look more vulnerable on grass and his movement's not so good but it must take time to adapt. I'm just so pleased to see him at Queens! I can't get used to the blue around the stadium, needs to be Stella Artois red to feel like Queens  case 06-07-2010, 03:47 PM gasquet has been a little lucky (for a change) today still he has been digging in when things go wrong- which is a good sign for him reggie1 06-07-2010, 03:56 PM Job done! Serve was good today, particularly when it got tight. Vlad1980 06-07-2010, 03:59 PM Good enough. Serve helped him out of trouble at times. Some nice net play as well. Davodus 06-07-2010, 04:00 PM Just a solid opening match I think, good way to find his feet in match play on grass! Gretchen. 06-07-2010, 04:01 PM Yay, a win on grass. Schu 06-07-2010, 04:01 PM Yeah! Just saw from 3-0 in the second. Was pleased to see he was up pretty easily but then played a shaky service game at 4-2 with the aid of a few good shots from Kei. However RIchard held his nerve and saved a few break points with smart, aggresive play to hold and then serve out. (Nice to say and see THAT). He still needs to get his feel and movement on grass but he had already adapted the grass position on his service return. Amazing how much more aggressive his position is on grass. Keep on rolling Richie. tennisc 06-07-2010, 04:07 PM Nice win, good to see him on grass again! I think everyone will have a little trouble adjusting to the green stuff. I was most impressed that he was able to save all those break points. scmom 06-07-2010, 04:08 PM good first win on grass - thanks for the reports of watching the play - love the fact that he is a bit more aggressive in his return stance ! I did not find a stream to watch any , but did manage to get the last game on a scoreboard Hope to see more as the week progresses . you mention both players slipping - was it wet from rain maybe? or just humid ? I would think it takes a bit of time to adjust to the footing on grass. Schu 06-07-2010, 04:14 PM I did not find a stream to watch any , but did manage to get the last game on a scoreboard Hope to see more as the week progresses . livescorehunter.com has several streams to choose from - some that even we in the U.S. can get. Probably will be there all week and TTC will show starting from quarters - so we can see Richie on TV :D GasquetFan 06-07-2010, 04:52 PM Impressive for his first match on grass but as others have said bit shaky during parts... next up is Rajeev Ram. Very beatable. Allez! :D scmom 06-07-2010, 04:58 PM thanks ! I will try to find the stream that you suggested next match :) I just have to sort out my mental block about European time differences. for some reason , I figured that Richard's match would be long over before I woke this morning so , I did not even turn on the computer I was shocked to realize he was still on the court next match is probably Wednesday ? Cloudygirl 06-07-2010, 06:02 PM he fell over twice, which is rather unusal, is it very slippery? Serve was good today, particularly when it got tight. It probably is quite slippery. Sauver beaucoup de balles de break, ça fait du bien. » Depuis sa défaite éreintante face à Andy Murray au premier tour de Roland-Garros, le Biterrois n’a pas tiré sur la machine à l’entraînement. Amazing what a little confidence can do. Cloudygirl 06-08-2010, 05:27 PM Jenny am waiting for your match report :) Vlad1980 06-08-2010, 05:27 PM Well done beating 2009 Newport champ! Ram must be decent on grass. Monfils lost so Rainer is next. Very winnable of course. ImmzB 06-08-2010, 05:33 PM Well done Gasquet!! Through to the 3rd Round!! Ram Served well in the 2nd, hitting 9 ACES but Gasquet got the Break in the 11th game. ALLLEZ GASQUET!! ImmzB 06-08-2010, 05:41 PM R.Gasquet next faces R.Schuettler in the 3rd Round. Vlad1980 06-08-2010, 07:09 PM Roddick is in scary good form. If Richard gets passed Rainer, he better be in his best form to challenge him. Cloudygirl 06-08-2010, 07:49 PM I didn't think Roddick looked amazing Schu 06-08-2010, 09:15 PM Hard to tell how well Roddick played, his opponent really didn't have much. One match does not make scary good form, at least not yet. Richie not on OOP for Wednesday, so Gasquet v. Schuettler on Thursday. Also hard to tell how well Schuettler played cuz Monfils just didn't have much of a clue about playing on grass. Schuettler is a nice grass player but Richie is nicer... ~*BGT*~ 06-08-2010, 09:35 PM I haven't yet posted during the tournament but I have followed his two last matches and even watched the last few games of the Nishikori match. He is looking great :) Too bad he possibly has to play Andy Roddick the round after next. I can't decide who I want to win more. I already said I'd never pull against Andy again after their Brisbane match but they BOTH need to do really well here. :sobbing: PinkFeatherBoa 06-09-2010, 12:38 AM OK sorry I have a little bit of a "report" of the match from today but since I'm tired it will probably be not so useful. If you have anything specific you want to know about the match, feel free to ask questions of course. :p Well as I said it started out very serve dominated until 3-2. Then of course Richie broke, Ram did DF to hand him the BP but it was a gorgeous BH return off Ram's 1st serve where he stepped up the court to hit it (that was the BP winner). Next service game was full of BH winners (1 crosscourt I think) and also the dropshot I mentioned previously. At this point he was being very aggressive and he closed out the set fairly comfortably. For a lot of the 2nd set he wasn't get much joy on the return as Ram was really serving well, wasn't so much Richard returning badly, although he did tend to "let games go" a little on Ram's serve when he lead 40-0. But this was ok, as he was holding fairly comfortably most of the time (I remember a loose service game but he wasn't really in danger of being broken- it was more a case of his own errors then). They exchanged in a lot of BH to BH rallys particularly in this set. I don't know what Ram was thinking hitting to the BH because it was great today and the FH had been loose on a couple of big points. Generally though on the occasions that the FH was on display (really not so often, thanks Ram!) he was hitting it quite deep and being aggressive with it and he did hit a really nice FH winner DTL in this set. Anyway, after what seemed like a million ace full service games from Ram (), at 5-5 Richie's patience was finally rewarded and he took a few good slices on the return and managed to get the break. Good news is it was nice aggressive play that won him the break (and I think the FH I mentioned was in this game). Then of course, there was no looking back and he served it out. Movement looked decent but then it seems like he makes the transistion really well to this surface. I haven't seen the Nishikori match yet so I can't compare but his form today was definitely good, bar the returning "problems" but he was going about it the right way and Ram did serve well. I took a few "action" pics too, will post them when I can (and still have Monfils practise to come). Ooh something I forgot to mention about that was the cute moment when they were playing the practise set and Markus was standing behind him actively encouraging to the point of cheerleader- yes, I saw him go "Allez" and make a c'mon fist! I have a picture of this to come. I really like the relationship with Markus, looks promising. Oh and also I think that French TV were filming some of this practise, maybe for the 'Mousquetaires' documentary. # OK, I think that's everything for now, questions welcomed. Allez Richard, continue. ~*BGT*~ 06-09-2010, 01:54 AM Did you take pictures of his ass? ImmzB 06-09-2010, 12:14 PM Gasquet is 8 Withdrawls away to getting into Eastbourne. Not so keen on him playing, he did ask for the Wild-Card which was declined, so he want's to play there. Or 2 Wins away from getting a SE for Eastbourne. Thanks mucho for the report, hope you enjoyed the day - lucky you. Puschkin 06-09-2010, 06:36 PM OK, I think that's everything for now, questions welcomed. Allez Richard, continue. Did you talk to him again? How is his body language? Cloudygirl 06-09-2010, 06:40 PM yup pictures of Mr Gasquet's best asset (I'm referring to his backhand of course :angel:) are muchly appreciated. Was the practise set with Monfils and who won? ImmzB 06-09-2010, 07:44 PM Was the practise set with Monfils and who won? It finished 2 games all. ImmzB 06-09-2010, 08:51 PM Gasquet is 3rd on Court 1 tommorow (Thursday) Play starts at 12.30. OOP: http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/311/op.pdf Schu 06-09-2010, 08:53 PM Gasquet v. Schuttler - 3rd on Court One - no live stream :( WIth only four singles matches scheduled for Center Court and the four top seeds left in the tourney I didn't think he had a chance of being on the TV Court but I suspect the Gasquet- Schuttler match will be a MUCH better grass court match than any of the scheduled Center court matches. Well guess we'll just have to wait till the quarters to SEE him play again. Everytime I think about the fact that we basically can see Richie perform his grass court magic for at most 3 tournamnets a year I get :mad: EDIT - Immz One day I'm gonna beat you at posting the schedule, you are too fast :) ImmzB 06-09-2010, 08:54 PM His match won't be on TV :( Cloudygirl 06-09-2010, 09:00 PM all of the matches on court 1 are better potentially as grass court matches than the ones on centre. ImmzB 06-09-2010, 09:01 PM Scoreboard will have to do :) PinkFeatherBoa 06-09-2010, 11:39 PM Did you talk to him again? How is his body language? No, I haven't had a chance to talk to him again since I haven't seen any of his practises since Sunday. It has become harder to watch practise since the weather has been bad, the practise sessions have been very random in timing. When I went on Tuesday the practise courts were covered until nearly 2pm because of the rain problems. I hope I do get another chance to speak to him but maybe if not at Queens, I will at Wimbledon. His body language during the match was good I felt, particularly in the 2nd set. Ram was bombing down the aces and big serves but I felt for the most part he wasn't getting discouraged and he looked pretty patient and waited for his chances well, which he then got at 5-5 and duly took with aggressive play. He was also pumping himself up on quite a few occasions for a match that lasted less than an hour, there were fistpumps when he played the great game to break in the 1st set and also a lot of positive fistpumps and body language at the end of the 2nd set. Here he is after breaking in the 2nd set: http://web5.twitpic.com/img/113176407-8a55f29a327f49e55670afe405689648.4c1023f8-scaled.jpg all of the matches on court 1 are better potentially as grass court matches than the ones on centre. I'm sorry for you all but delighted since I bought a Court 1 ticket in advance and I got all the better matches to watch. I shall cheer him on for everyone here, of course (weather permitting since I have to leave early tomorrow so hope not too much rain!). Cloudygirl 06-09-2010, 11:49 PM Doesn't he look slim now. Looks far fitter imo. If you are cheering him on for me, make sure you yell abuse at him if he stops concentrating. ;) It needs to be an accurate representation of how I cheer him at home ;) I would love to see Llodra on grass as well. Puschkin 06-10-2010, 05:20 AM I suspect the Gasquet- Schuttler match will be a MUCH better grass court match than any of the scheduled Center court matches. :) This is maybe an exaggeration, but all decent volleyers (Lopez, Llodra and Richard) are on court 1. With this kind ov TV coverage people will forget how a proper volley is played. He was also pumping himself up on quite a few occasions for a match that lasted less than an hour, there were fistpumps when he played the great game to break in the 1st set and also a lot of positive fistpumps and body language at the end of the 2nd set. That is great to hear and thanks for your impressions, but the pic won't open! :o icecastle 06-10-2010, 06:58 AM I'm sorry for you all but delighted since I bought a Court 1 ticket in advance and I got all the better matches to watch.
