Belgrade R2: Troicki takes Serra to the wood shed 6/0 6/1

Serra never ceases to interest me.

Can play some good matches and go deep in the odd event here and there...and then there are the isolated results like these!

As easy as the scoreline suggests...40 minutes and only 5 pts won on return (2 from double faults). :tape:

Was he injured?

Don't think he was injured, he just didn't want to make any attempt to win or even compete..

Deserves to get an ATP fine for lack of effort, imo.

Serra plays quite flat and is quite short. Probably sucks on clay. Not bothered enough to check his past results on the stuff though.

serra usually saves these performances for when he plays Nadal

When I watch Serra I always have the impression that he doesn't care and that the living he made from being ca. #50 floater for whole career is enough for him.

Not really a surprising result. A guy playing in his home country vs. a guy everyone realizes many times per year goes on court for the paycheck only.

A lot of personal feelings and descriptions of Serra being discussed, personally he's always reminded me of a much less version of Djokovic with less topspin on his shots. So you can see why he might have results like this on clay.

Sounds ridiculous... ;)

Serra rarely appears to give a ****. As someone above said, he's clearly content where he is in the rankings.

He's no mug on clay though - has beaten Davy, Bellucci, Monaco, Berdy, Andreev. Better record than Troicki certainly.

That's why this scoreline looks a bit ridiculous for a top 100 player..
