watching this match made me feel better about my own tennis skills :cool:

here are the stats of the 2nd set, where djoko jr had two mps at 5*-4 40-15 (the whole set was pure comedy)

At first I thought that Novak had lost. When I realized it had been his brother, I was profoundly dissapointed.

Huge stuff from both

High level and intensity of a match...the crowds was not at their level unfortunetly...only 200-300 of them and very silent...no passion or enthusiasm at all...Marko was pumping them up on matchpoint but it didnt help

at juice he missed one tough overhead but all in all im very pleased with the match overall

I don't often say I could do things better than the pros, but I know I could have hit that overhead better.

I think this should go down as the muggiest match of the year. It was the type of quality you'd expect in the first round of a futures tournament

similarity between marko and nole is uncanny. by the looks of it - VERY similar bh, similar wta takeback on forehand, almost the same serve.... he is pretty athletic, and certainly not untalented player, but in terms of competitive spirit is a real lamb. you see, its the gaze that goes only as far as the middle point.

Agree. Getting upset and losing 06 in the third set after the win was already in the pocket is normal for a teenager.

That was so unfortunate how he choked. He just totally let is slip away from him. Surprisingly, he was actually outplaying Di Mauro, even though he was not playing well by any means, Di Mauro was SHOCKING. Then after he had the match in his hands, he fell apart embarrassingly and weakly. It was just sad.

I'm more disappointed in Di Mauro for even being outplayed by this quality of opponent at all, and for playing as terribly as he did. I know he is horrendous generally but I expected a bit more than what he did the first 2 sets. Remember people, Di Mauro was top 100 for 2 years just back in '06-'07.

As the poster above said, he's still a little boy. Especially in tennis terms as he has barely even played at futures level. Going to a tour event as a WC in your home country is bad enough but having the world number two and slam champion as your brother and people probably speculating and wanting to see the male version of Dinara-Marat or Venus and Serena (although it is never going to happen of course :lol:) would just be AWFUL.

It was indeed a bad match and I reckon that if he did have a little more match practice he probably would've closed that 6-3 6-3, but he didn't.

I don't think he is bad by any stretch. As someone said, he definitely has the athletic ability of Novak in addition to good anticipation (though it wasn't tough to guess where that guy's shots were going :lol:). Both his groundstrokes were decent although some of the wrist action on his backhand urgently needs to be sorted out, the big problem he had was that he was unable to put any kind of weight/depth into his strokes. It could indeed have been to do with nerves but he just needs to get stronger and more powerful so that his strokes won't be sitting up so well for other players (and his serve would of course improve so much with that too) and I reckon he could be a pretty neat retriever.

I hope that tennis is something that Marko is genuinely passionate about, and not just something he got pushed into and is now trapped into thanks to his family. He's in a tough situation, really.

awful match

One Korolev wouldn't leave more than 10 points to both and those would be his own UEs.

Simply disastrous, big disapointment from the Italian and some light about the real strenght of amateur tennis.

We can bother even top 300 pros and that's...er, terrible :rolleyes:

in all fairness, the ue stats are off...they counted every point not ending in a winner as an unforced error. that said, this wasn't even futures quality tennis

The ATP should be ashamed - allowing wild cards to people without even an ATP ranking. What do all the other Serbians with rankings and no wild cards think of this nepotism?

He was the "E" in NOLE at the Aussie Open, before it was pointed out that the Djokovic family was displaying a lack of manners.

He was the "L" actually dude ;).Before it was pointed out???They never stopped wearing them until the tournament was over-you make it sound like they were hassled into no longer wearing them.Not true,I'm afraid,tourny was over,their boy did good and they couldn't repeat it again cos it wouldn't look original anymore :sad:.True people might have found it impolite and said as much but I guarantee you this- "Chez Djoko" didn't give a s**t ;)

Epic match, worst of the last 10 years I have been following tennis closely;

Di Mauro is not even futures level, Marko can not geenrate any pace, no strenth at all;

The rallies were hillarious; each shot was landing in the service box and none of the two at all able to hit a winner, pure comedy.....

How could Polansky lose 16 36 to this guy? :o I doubt he was tanking. It shows how poor Polansky is at the moment.

Two things about this post:

1. It's a shame Caio_Brasil doesn't post here anymore because he was a very good poster.
2. How the hell did Blaz Rola lose to Marko at one point in time?!?! That's turrible.
