He'll do well to defeat bye in the opening round

This is a biggie for Fed's confidence.

Chance for ''World number 1'' to finally do something after wasted 3 months

I don't think he's too worried about it. He owns the one 2010 title that really matters. Could call Nadal's last 12 months a waste by comparison.

What's next? Giving Byes in Slams and reducing the first 4 rounds to best of 3 matches?

What an utter joke the ATP has become. :retard:
Thank God they don't have a say in Grand Slams, and the ITF has some sanity for now.

It's gonna be a dog fight between Giraldo (future 2010 RG champion), Hernández (unrecognized GOAT of tennis), Lappentti (oldest bloke in the top 100) and Massu (Spartan 3452552 hours warrior of Arab and Jewish descent).

Best ATP tournament of the year, imo. We're missing Koellerer, though.

Why couldn't Fed have played Belgrade instead? The field there is far more respectable and competitive than the one in Estoril this year. As much as I respect Fed, I think this was a really stupid choice on his part.

Same points (and probably more money) in exchange for actually having more possibilities of winning the tournament?

Sounds like a very rational choice to me.

How much is Estoril paying Fed? Joke draw. Looks like they gave all their money to Fed and have none left to pay another big name player. Obviously, the winner will be... Mr. Roger Federer.

If he manage to lose this, then all the Fed fans should go into panic mode.

Isn't Estoril "Roger's Clay Court Tounrnament?" He retreats here to play when he cannot win the clay Masters in the early spring. So he can win against the mugs and then come out to play the real clay courters in Madrid and Roland Garros with a bit more confidence. It usually works, so why fix what isn't broken?

He didn't play in Estoril last year but decided getting spanked by Wawrinka in his 2nd round match in Monte Carlo was a better idea. It payed off, he won both Madrid and RG. :D
