I never liked Verdasco but I have to give a credit to him for this win . Impressive stuff after playing finals two weeks in a row

Verdasco keeps up his great clay form. No revenge for djokovic, he looked just as tired as verdasco..had no answers in the 3rd. Match was over 3 hours long..entertaining stuff.

Nando's physical preparation
He has mentally improved this year. No matter he loses a 5:2, 5:3 or even 5:1 40-30 lead (like against Montanes in MC), stays mentally composed. It's a change in comparison to last season when he started to play more patiently but still couldn't deal properly with tough situations.

Djokovic used to be a tie-break monster but since the beginning of last year has been average in this department.

Nando was the better in this match. He lost second set because he dropped his level of play not because Djoker upped his. Well fought match from both, I still think this match was a step in the right direction for Novak. He needs to work on the consistency with his serve though.

Anyone could see Nando was struggling, he was barely walking, taking more time on the exchanges, stretching, slowing down the match. He was really tired and it showed but in the end he just wanted the win more.

I would not suspect Verdasco of taking steroids.
He has been having a great condition since I know this player.

Look at Australian Open 2009 semi, Verdasco seemed to be quite fit in 5 set, he would have easily take that If his brain was OK.

All the best for him, this way Nole can prepare better for RG and not arrive there completely exhausted and spent. I'm sure he'll be in his best form for the slam. He's in the right direction now, getting his old serve and game back can't happen overnight, but at least he's faring better than Murray or Federer.

A tough, physical, grinding match. I was pulling for Djoko [who doesn’t want to see him and Rafa go at it again on clay?] but all credit to Nando for his impressive conditioning and mental toughness.

Djoko looked sharper to me than he did in Monte Carlo - more aggressive with his groundstrokes and better timing and rhythm on the serve. And a win next week at his Nole Open should do wonders for his confidence. I think he'll be in good form for Madrid and Paris.

:hatoff: Nando.

Presuming Nadal wins both Rome and Madrid,Djoko needs to win in Belgrade and reach semi of Madrid to stay at no.2 for RG.Before this tournament started he needed a QF and SF out of the two masters and to win Serbia Open so he has just scraped one of his minimum requirements .I'm gonna lol so hard if he pulls it off and has neither Roger or Rafa in his half for RG.Of course he'd probably still bow out to some lower ranked player but Nando Verdasco is not beating him thrice :p

Kudos to Nando for a match well-played. He's been in clay winning mode this season. I hope he continues and gives his all in his encounter with Ferrer and than "the king itself".

Nole, Nole, Nole!!!!!! What can I say! Better performance than in MC, but the serve is still pretty damaged. His confidence is also messed up because of it!!!!! There is always some kind of drama with him. I certainly hope he was not thinking about Belgrade and SO while playing Nando... At times he looked out of sorts and in a different world. I am still waiting to see brilliance from him (if it ever happens). At least he was advertising the "yellow ST outfit", but of course that did not bring him a win/victory. For that he needed to play better, serve better, stay focused, composed and have a better "game plan".

If there was any doubt who is the second best clay court player currently, this match should answer that question. Intense, physical and exciting match, with nice long rallies.

Nando's dramatic improvement in mental strength is so amazing, and to see someone growing as a player in front of your eyes is just great. He's doing what everyone expected him to when he was young.

Fernando was the better player throughout the match. More aggressive, smart serving, moving well, better tactics, and more mental strength.

Nole played average to decent overall, but his level isn't good enough right now to beat top players. His second serve has now become one of the worst among the top 50 honestly, and it has totally affected the rest of his game. His movement is really amazing, but he's too defensive now, and he lacks confidence, and he wont win against good playing top guys playing the way he does now. Hopefully a win in Belgrade will help him with his issues.
