I completely agree with that.

Despite I don't like Nadal, I'm excited about the event which he plays in.

Naturlich. I've heard they won't cover any matches other than Federer's and Nadal's because no one cares anyway. Next logical step is to abolish the ATP and have them play the "final" everywhere.

It's always interesting to have Federer or Nadal in a tourney (after all they're the top seeds), but they're not the end of it all, I do care about tourneys with other top players in it. Specially if Djoko or Murray are playing, which are as good an entertaining to watch. So maybe you don't care but a lot of us do.

Is it possible that even Nolefans are forgetting Federer and Djokovic are the top seeds? :)

I know Fed and Novak are the top seeds but I was speaking in general terms about Fedal (history, etc). ;)

haha, ofcourse not!
It's more interessting without them. I don't even care about Federer.

But I have to say that it also depends on who are your favourites, most people have many so it's not boring at all without them.

Those who think Fed and Nadal are the only players that matter are pathetic. How boring must be for you guys to follow tennis...

Very true.

Takes a lot to defeat Federer, most of his losses have been 5 set thrillers, or matches that required the player to play out of his mind.

Without them it might be wide open, making a bit boring since you don't have anticipation of whats going to happen (Non-ranks can upset and some strange player like Melzer could end up winning something or showing up to the final, and subsequently killed in 3 sets by a heavy hitter). But there are always fan favorites like Verdasco, Gonzalez, Djokovic, Davydenko, Del Potro, Cilic, Soderling, Berdych, and many other top ranks, that can make some damn interesting matches if they all make deep runs, and even make a beautiful final of their own, if they are consistent without the likes of Federer or Nadal present.

The thing is when Federer or Nadal make most of the finals, and when they play against players other than themselves, they end up in final type matches where they kill the players in 3 sets. The Nadal and Berdych match (Wimbledon), or the Federer and Soderling final at FO, were somewhat boring, although I respect those heavy hitters for raising their game, they created disappointing one sided finals.

This is why a lot of players want either Federer, Nadal, or Djokovic to reach the semis or finals, because they know for the most part, they won't disappoint.

Hmm. So when Fed retires, there will be no more tennis? Nadal can't play himself, can he? What on earth will all the posters on here do with all that spare time?

Oh - write endlessly about the great days that are gone forever, I suppose.

Fed and Nadal are both VERY boring so a tournament without them is more interesting than a tournament with them...logical isn't it ??

It depends. I usually watch all the Grand Slams finals and semifinals no matter who play but ordinary I only watch the qualifying rounds if are playing two of the top 10 or Nadal. Same with Davis Cup & Olympics (only semifinals/final or when play Spain). Finally in ATP Masters I only watch the final or the semifinals if i'd like the players.

Totally disagree. Matches involved Fedal in early rounds doesn't have much of my attention. A MM tourney or a good fielded Challenger with a couple of your favorite players can be much more interesting. It depends on which players you like.

Nadal's absence is a relief that allows one to fully enjoy the tournament.
