What happened here? Looks like it wasn't a walkover but an actual retirement. Did he get hurt in warm-ups?

Very weird, he was out on court and right before starting he quit. I hope Ljubo is OK!

I have absolutely no idea what happened!

Impressive performance from Lopez, never looked in trouble. Very authoritative with the autographs in particular.

Feliciano Lopez now leads 5-2 in the head to head! LOL

Anyways I think it was just a precaution, Ljubo should be fine for Madrid and Roland Garros.

But in all seriousness I hope that Ljubo isn't badly hurt. Deserves respect if he decided during the warm-up not to risk it (if it is pain in his back)...very sensible decision, and hopefully he will be fit enough to play Madrid and then Roland Garros.

Lopez in a clay Masters QF...who'd have thought? :tape: Maybe even a SF... :scared: :o

Hope it's nothing serious (already 31!).

Would be nice to see him make the second week of a GS again.

Eurosport says it was a rib problem:

WINNER! Ivan Ljubicic just about lasted the warm-up before needing treatment to a left rib problem and has withdrawn injured without a ball being hit against Feliciano Lopez. The Spaniard goes through to face the winner between Ernests Gulbis and Filippo Volandri

Hopefully it doesn't prevent him from playing Madrid and RG. He should definitely withdraw from Estoril now, as should Davydenko.

If Ljubo retired during warmup then the score should not be 0-0 ret. but it should be a Walk Over. Not that it matters though...

yeah but matchups don't win matches, no? :)

Strong serving bailed Gulbis out today. And Feli can serve, too.

If the match never started can it be considered a walkover?

And lets not forget Gulbis and Lopez played fairly recently and Feli won 6-2 6-4. This won't be so straightforward as everyone thinks, Lopez was very good in set two and three VS Cilic. The young guys do not like playing him, he is a tricky opponent.

ljubo retired because of stomach pain. he felt it earlier in practice today, decided to come out and try to play, but realized he would only make it worse during warm up

Quite even game.

It makes it another cake draw for Nadal, if Wawrinka ousts Soderling.

Tennis Channel showed the trainer checked his ribs on the left side. According to commentator, he pulled his muscle/rib during warmed up and called the trainer. Then decided to retire.

If Stan can beat Soderling why wouldn't Nadal? TBH in their current form Stan might prove to be a tougher opponent than Soderling.

WOW! I didn't expect this to happen, but Feliciano got a huge break. This is his chance to make something happen, with Gulbis up next. But if he gets past Gulbis, it's as far as he'll go in the semis. Hopefully Ljubicic is alright. I'm not fond of him but would never wish anything serious to happen to him. I wish Ivan a speedy recovery.

Good luck to Feli in the next round.

In lieu of a match they should have set up a catwalk for Feli to shake his little tush.

Well, maybe not so little.
