A good win for GGL :worship:

No hecklers in the crowd today to fire Hewitt up:haha:

After breaking a 6 match losing streak in Indian Wells, GGL isn't looking too bad. Hewitt was more of a Hamburg man, so maybe Madrid will see him make further progress.

I expected this result. GGL is a pretty good player that doesn't get much pub, but his level on clay is nothing to sneeze about, and Lleyton is still coming back so no-one should expect too much as of yet.

Wish this was televised, I was quite curious about GGL steamrollering Chela so easily. Anyone got comments from either player? Or a match report perhaps?

GGL is OK on clay, but it's not a coincidence his only real successes have come in Kitzbuhel and Gstaad, where his flat groundies are so much more effective, and the altitude rewards midpace 70% first serves with good precision. Seems to have more confidence lately though, made a career best performance on hard at Indian Wells (admittedly also fairly favourable to his game).

Not surprised by the rather easy scoreline, Hewitt beat a poorly playing Youzhny. Gotta love his fighting though to come back.
