Is Fed ducking and dodging Rafa? ...

Not in the the sense that he’s a coward -- because it's IMPOSSIBLE to win 16 slams and become GOAT without MASSIVE heart and cojones -- but rather in the sense that it’s all about LEGACY now and he doesn’t want to further tarnish his H2H with Rafa.

So was he ducking and dodging Rafa today? ... Did he hear footsteps? ... Please chime in! ;)

UPDATE: This thread was deleted in the thought that I was trolling. However, it's not meant to belittle or mock Roger. This same question has been raised by real journalists and here's a sampling following Fed's upset loss to Gulbis ...

While I personally don’t think Fed would outright tank a match, I do think that in some way [subconsciously perhaps] he thought about the ramifications of his H2H with Rafa and how it might affect his legacy in terms of GOAT.

Fed is playing mind games with Rafa, He strategically tanked Rome thinking about a second RG, His true next goal in this post-GOATness period of His life

What about in Indian Wells and Miami? Just couldn't picture himself in the final against Nadal?

Roger won their last meeting.

Yeah after Rafa had played 4 hours the day before.

Fed is scared s**tless to play Rafa on clay fair and square. Everyone will realize the Madrid win was a fluke and he'll get bageled.

Which isn't much worse than getting breadsticked by Ernie. :haha:

By the way, I don't think he tanked the match today. He just sucks. :rolls:

LOL @ Madrid being a "fluke" when Rafa was in fine shape after playing a 5+ hour match on arguably his worst surface in Melbourne last year

Not a tank, not avoiding Rafa, he was just poorly prepared and Ernests played smart and got the job done.

More rest in Melbourne..plus clay tennis is harder on the fitness than hardcourt.

He is tanking because he knows that that h2h can't get any worse..when people look back through history at him it is his h2h with Rafa that people will pinpoint and say he is not the GOAT for. ATM it's marginally respectible..he just doesn't want it to get any worse.

Kah peesh?

This is true. That Madrid match meant sh!t. If he comes up against a healthy Rafa, as he has many times before, we all know what the outcome will be.

Obviously. Just setting up Rafa to embarrass him worse than Soderling last year at the French. I thought everyone knew that by now, Roger is a genius, he's going to make fools fans and players alike come June.
