29 out of 32 breakpoints faced combined were not converted , on clay it must be a new world record . Not even Karlovic would be able to pull this off , way to go champs !

12 break points and 12 saved :worship:

I'm so happy for Pippo, great to get a ATP win, and in front of the home fans. I think he can beat Benneteau too.

The bpfest was hilarious, some games were endless deuce/ad/deuce battles - some of Nadal's entire matches at Monte Carlo were shorter than those games.

How many 2 set matches with no tiebreaks have been longer than this? Not many I would imagine

Longer match than the shortest five-setters :o

Luczak got robbed in the first game of the second set, when he hit a clear ace on game point (he got broken in the end)
I'm sure this tournament will do everything they can to have a Federer vs Volandri match in the 3rd round...

Say what you want, but this match was enjoyable with some good rallies and not too many errors. Both players were looking for winners and some shots were amazing.

I know they are mugs, but it was not wasted two hours.

Do you remember how many deuces they played?

Unfortunately not, I only remember that after 2 games in the 2nd set 42 points were already been played... :D

Probably one of the greatest matches of all time.

10, i think it was

This was one bizarre match, although it shows how much Luczak is out of form at the moment

10 deuces lasted also 11th game of Gulbis-Verdasco match last week but If I remember correctly they needed "just" 15 minutes. 10 deuces happen very rarely, it's something like a 14-12 tie-break.

Amazing statistics and match :spit: You wouldn't thought so looking at a simple scoreline

Is that Emporio Armani t-shirt? Now that's classy.
Fred Perry is a mug brand compared to this.

Lonnnnnnnng rallies too.

As someone else said, it was surprisingly watchable at times, not as much of a mugfest as the stats suggest. Volandri looked way better than I've seen him in ages, some nice point construction at times.

He got a good opponent to win with him in next round, but atm after Fed loosing with Gulbis. Super Pippo can really make a nice boost and have double concentration with Benneteau to make clash with Gulbis and then nobody knows.

I see very little chance of him beating Gulbis since he can knock Pippo off the court, but who knows? If he can beat Benneteau tomorrow, this tournament will have been very successful for Pippo, and will bring him closer to top 100.
