Locals should have put Lorenzi on Centre instead of Ferrero. There were probably more spectators at this match.

First ever main tour win for Lorenzi and doing it for the Steve Buscemi lookalikes.

Congrats to Paolino. Great match.

Too bad we couldn't see it because Italian organizers put him on side court. Probably only in Rome it's possible to put on side court one of the 3 only home players with 2 tv courts available...

Good job to Paolo, since now he will for sure get on the main court to play Soderling. Might be his first and last chance, so it's nice to see a late bloomer doing well, and getting a win in his home country with the home fans.

I wouldn't be too sure, Sod is often sidelined to side courts by out of top10 players until R16.. If it is to happen it will be because of Lorenzi in this case, because Soderling-Montanes wouldn't have been a main court match for sure.

Lorenzi is Italian. The tournament is played in Italy. Lorenzi > Montanes for the organizers...

Mountains having a multi-match letdown after THAT 2nd set vs Verdasco.

Yes, Lorenzi is going to make it a main court match, because of being Italian, in this tournament, Lorenzi is more of a draw than Montanes. Also, the storyline of the good form top 10 player doing great vs. older journeyman Italian, people are going to want to see if he can pull of an upset.

If Paolo pulls off more than 5 games, I'll be surprised, and happy for him. I just hope he isn't completely embarrassed.

Starace >>>>>>>>>>>>> Lorenzi

Starace is a superstar compared to a challenger mug who never won a tour match until today. :)

But Montanes >>>> Starace and Montanes >>>> Hajek, so the match-up Montanes-Lorenzi is much more attractive than Starace-Hajek.

Obviously Montanes is the best player of the four, but I don't think they even expected Lorenzi to win, while Starace probably was thought to have a good chance to make the home crowd happy. Also, the Italians really don't care about Montanes or Hajek, so it is more about the Italian player in the match, and Starace is much more widely known and more accomplished than Lorenzi is.

Anyway, Paolo is going to have his chance against Soderling on center court. I think it will end up being a night match.

It was bad choice anyway. I watched Isner-Zeballos: before the end of Lorenzi match, there was noone watching the match. After Lorenzi finished, there was a decent crowd...

Well, good on the Italians for supporting their man, even if he was thrown out on one of the outer courts. Probably should have put it on Pietrangeli at the very least.
