Thiemo has game, that much is clear. Good touch, plays with intent, goes for the right shots and he knows how to defend. Beautiful shotmaker.

Jo was very up and down, and a total mess in the third. De Bakker played a disastrous game on serve after he got his first service break in the last set, but he sharpened up after that.

Revenge for the lost Favis Cup game last october
Huge serve problems for Tsonga in 3d set; 4 of his 5 DF's.

Piss poor 3rd set from Tsonga, especially after bathroom break. I guess he hates rain more than de Bakker.

He strikes me as a guy with potential to not just fade away, but time will tell how that turns out.

I'll be pretty much neutral in the SF's now. One is contested by two players I'm fairly indifferent to, and I like both in the other one.

Thiemo will be to avoid at the FO.
Great week so far for him! :yeah:

He did an incredible first set. He improved those last weeks especially his serve.

Good stuff from Thiemo - I thought once he was into a third set he was toast but he showed good resilience and in the end Tsonga showed more frailty on the clay.

Tsonga :retard:

De Bakker :speakles: Absolutely shocked me today, I didn't even know he could play that well! :o

If not Tsonga becoming Clownga in the 3rd set since *2-3 - this could be the best match of the tournament so far.

Even with this it probably was. First two sets were very high quality

I need to watch this baker and soon! This is insane, getting humiliated last week by Rafzilla and now reaching SF of ATP 500 out of nowhere.
Tommorrow I have reserved some time just for him. ;) Will watch him for the first time in a match against Soderling, should be fun.

And I think we'll be able to see a lot more of him in the future.

Tsonga should skip clay season as roddick do...cause he's still doesn't know how to play in it!!!

That was great from Thiemo. I really like his game - he does everything really well - serve, groundies, volleys, dropshots and he moves really well for his height too. I look forward to seeing more of him. The S&V in that last game was CRAZY. Take the Sod out.

It was 2nd serve & volley on 15-30 in the last game, yes ?

Well that was by far the best i've ever seen De Bakker play....i've seen him play on hard courts before and he isn't very good there. The extra bounce and time to prepare for shots really allows him to take some cuts at the ball and he executed his dropshots very well. Also volleyed pretty nicely when he came in.

Opposite for Tsonga. I'm not sure how he gets decent clay results or how he made it to the QF here....his game is just not for clay.

This guy was a clown one week ago and now is a legend according to MTF. This site never ceases to amaze me. There's always a way to discredit Nadal's victories no matter what. Hilarious.

Anyway, good job Thiemo :worship:

The people who say X is not always the same people who say Y, but MTF is a funny place when you look at it as one giant indecisive hive mind.

What a transformation from being ridiculed after his match with Nadal to now becoming a genuine contender for the bandwagon player of the month

He's certainly one to look out for in the future, but I doubt he'll be a real threat at the French Open. Of course I may be proved wrong, as the match today was probably the best I have seen him play.

People tend to forget that not only De Bakker got thrashed by Rafa last week. As I recall Verdasco didn't exactly win a lot of games agains Rafie either.

:woohoo: for Thiemo. Now go and step on that Toad.

Every player in the Barcelona draw would get ridiculed by Nadal.

Every player in the Barcelona draw would get ridiculed by Nadal.

That's true. Nevertheless I was just making a passing comment about the tendency on tennis boards (not just confined to MTF, I must admit) to over-exaggerate a player's deep run in one tournament and not to contextualise it in terms of his wider performances.

Doesn't look like Tsonga served that well i guess the conditions was really heavy. 1 Ace and 5 Df and average 1 serve %.
