The way Blaz has been playing, he could lose to someone 350 in the world. He's really struggling, and his ranking is about to nosedive.

I think Daniel is going to win this event again this year or Dani or RRH, and maybe Veic will go far in his home town. There are a lot of guys in the draw and alternates who are struggling or are not good on clay so this is a good opportunity for guys like the ones I mentioned to go deep.

He resides there, but I meant home country ;) Basically, Veic playing in front of the home fans should give him a boost that will help him in the tournament.

Wow, what an amazing draw! Full of players I really love. And an interesting mix of hard court players and clay court players, some ATP guys, some trying to get back, young and old alike.

Marcos has a great first 2 rounds. RRH vs. Marcos would be such a fun match.

With the way Blaz is playing, I don't see him getting to the QF.

Somdev should get to the QF, but he could easily lose to Schukin, hopefully not.

Gaston has two really good rounds and should make the QF.

Tomic has a chance to win a round. Del Bo vs. Crazy Dani is going to be a really interesting match, I hope Dani doesn't make Fede cry like he did to JMDP. Del Bo vs. Tomic, battle of the superstar youngsters would be great fun.

Santi has 2 pretty good rounds but he can lose to anyone. Hopefully he makes it to the SF.

Judging on what I saw this week, I think Veic has a real chance to beat Massu but hopefully Nico wins.

I love this tournament, I can't wait for the action to start!

I agree with flyboy that is such a great draw. The potential 2nd round match between Del Bonis and Tomic would be more than worth as a ticket to be paid :-).

I have recieved an offical memo from the press service of the tournament, the reason why livescore isn't working lies in the fact that the shipment with the PDA's for officials is running late because of the Iceland volcano ash situation and apparently this is the main piece of equipment needed for livescore service to work, press secretary assures me the problem will be solved during the day.

Devvarman won in doubles 2-0, they actually won the first set, scoreboard was wrong
I think that Dani retired because of his foot injury, he wasn't moving well.at one point he tried "underserve",but it went to the net:D:D:D

Koellerer retired yes,but he was simulating injury. He doesnt want to play any more he was frustrated.
I havent seen such a shame behaviour ever on tour.He was yelling on crowd, himself and children(ball collecters) who was totaly confused with him.He is such primitive player.Koellerer dont come back ever here!!!!
Del Bonis is great young player full of strength and he will have great future.
Bernard Tomic showed-nothing.Best junior-i dont think so.May be good on hard court but he will be lost as senior player.unfortunately...
Yani played superb an he deserve win.Specially on the net he was superb.
I watched his training after match with Rettenmaier an they re playing with full strength.Sims he is going to prepare himself for Roland Garros.(Even RETTENMAIER gave me a racket-he is such a good man)
Favorites are DANIEL,DEL BONIS and VEIC,DODIG too can go far away here.
I predict that MASSU will lose tomorrow.

Come on man,Koellerer was so much fun :D He tried an ''underserve'',he mocked del Bonis's inability to set up an overhead at the warm up (strong wind was blowing),he served a second serve while the ball girl was still on the court,he made fun of the line judge for bad call,he was communicating with the crowd (no one understood him,but that was no problem for him:) )....It's a shame he retired,I was having so much fun watching him :worship:
You're right about the injury, obviously he simulated.I saw his training before the match,he was having fun and there was nothing wrong about his physical condition...

About del Bonis,i agree totally. This was the first time I saw him play, and I'm amazed with his abilities. He has a beautiful forehand full of power, his serve is very good and a solid backhand.
He was demolishing Crazy Dany, and i expect final at least from him..

Tomic-Yani match wasn't so interesting..Yani played tipycal hard court game,he was playing flat strokes, played some nice volleys, served well. But he doesn't stand a chance against del Bonis,he doesn't have a clay court game, although it's not so bad for North American player..

As for Tomic,i think you overcriticized him,he's only 17.The most worrying part of his game is his attitude..he's too nonchalant,he's not a fighter.Crowd was cheering for him and yelled 'ajmo Tomic' which means ''let's go tomic'' and he answered ''ajmo fight'' and smiled sarcastically..
His serve is not bad, forehand is very solid but he needs much more strength..His slice is great but his backhand is awful,he just pushes the ball,no confidence in backhand at all..And his legs are still too weak so he plays two, three meters behind the baseline..He has to gain some weight and build some muscles, then he'll be able to make the most of his talent..But that will come with years for sure,so no worry for him..Maybe he's not new Federer but top 10 he should be..

Lookng forward to tomorrow, hope Veic beats Massu..Good luck to all Croatian players :rocker2:

It s not fun.He have no home-culture.May be fun but tottaly non-corectly(to serv when girl was on court an making people idiots). Why he even come here?It s not tennis behaviour!
As last year Ilija Bozoljac(punching racket and scolding). It s tippicaly balcanic behaviour an some people love to watch that. But most of them not.It s even not show or temperament it s something worse.

That 0-6 could have meant anything: either he was regrouping to win in the third, or he´d gone to pieces... That´s when I stopped watching! So the 6-4 in the third came as a welcome surprise. Seems he managed to turn around that difficult service game which is good, because recently he complained that he didn´t manage to play the important points well. This will give him more confidence...:)

Good job Santi on beating Karanusic.

Massu is playing really good, he could win this

KaVoZg
05-11-2010, 08:45 PM
Massu won because of Veic missed his chances and he had lot of BP.Veic is too emotional player and in key moments he is not reacting well expecially at home court.Massu won on routine and he had "something more" than Veic today.I heard Veic said he is going on therapies with sport psihologist and today we have seen his problems..unfortunately..He can not even stand crowd ovation to his opponent when Massu played god point.
Dodig is unusual good server for clay but he have more than serve and his opponents will have lot of problems with him in next rounds.
Next days we can expect some rain too and will be intresting..

That fosils are better than any Croatian player. And players with history and name.Even if they are old their quality is seen in every shot.An with out that players this wont be challenger you are betting on.
Croatians are just like that you said-they dont respect anybody. This tour should be moved somwhere else-we dont deserve it.
GOOO GAUDIO!!

how he can play on maximum when everybody against him.he wish to go home earlyer. An you took 1 situation an now it s the reason for that kind crowd behaviour on every match with any player.
If we have final zemlja-mektic ATP will take us this challenger very soon but final Daniel-Massu than next year they give higher rank to tournament and big names(not just fosils) will come

gaudio have his maximum last week now it's not normal that he cant play that good again .... final Daniel - Zemlja is decent final for us or Daniel - Dodig very good final, we dont need gaudio , why he dont play in Umag or some other tournamet in Croatia when he is in top of his form ? when hen win RG why then he dont came here ? he dont have any credit here , he can play good or go home-.. pa pa Gaston :wavey:

Crowds who pay their cash can behave how they want as long as they don't riot.

What crowd? Entrance is free and there are only gamblers and some tennis enthusiastics; of course watching Gaudio, Daniel and Massu is way more interesting then Sancic, Mektic or Zemlja....

KaVoZg

But they are rioting. That is the problem I telling. An that is no respect to "fosils"
And one essentially thing.ENTRANCE IS FREE on this tour so gamblers and other non-tennis crowd come and doing this balcanic behaviour

If only Somdev would have made it to the QF, this would be the perfect lineup. Even then, it is totally exciting.

Fede vs. Gaston is mouthwatering.

Santi vs. Nico, the battle of the 2 veterans.

RRH vs. Marcos, two guys who have been playing well.

Schukin vs. Kavcic, challenger veteran vs. the guy trying to make the ATP tour regularly.

I want to say Gaston will win, but the long matches he has played here, and winning last week, will it get to him? Fede has been playing great, and will want to make a statement, but will he be overwhelmed by his opponent? But the fact Gato all of a sudden has started winning matches, like this is amazing. I have real legit hope again with him. I really don't care who wins that match, I'll be happy with whoever.

I think Ventura, Daniel and Kavcic will win the other 3 SFs.
