I actually don't see Raji winning, and that isn't bias, Ward can beat him, and Alcaide can definitely beat him. Greg Jones isn't bad either, and then guys like Dabul, Soeda, G. Lapentti on the bottom half. I wouldn't be shocked to see a first round exit.

Haha, are you kidding me? Do you just go to the threads of the tournaments that Ram is playing in to talk trash? Ram should be expected to at least make the final here. Not that he is a great player by any means, but he's playing a weak field of mostly clay court players in a South American hardcourt challenger. Ram doesn't beat top players too often but he's certainly better than every player you listed above. Anyone that wouldn't be shocked that he lost to Ward in the first round here isn't paying close enough attention to the ATP. Did Ram kick your puppy when you were kids or something?

I didn't say that to be a hater, in these small sort of "far out" type tournaments, a lot of times you will see the top players lose, and not show motivation. Also, Ward has a good serve too, and Alcaide is known as a monster server, so taking into account the fact Ram isn't that good of a returner, I could see him lose. Plus, at least half of the draw are players who prefer hard courts over clay, not just dirtballers. I didn't say he wouldn't win, but that I wouldn't be surprised with a loss. I think he can lose to most anyone, so therefore I wouldn't be shocked to see him losing to Ward, who can be a decent player when he's on. Ram is the favorite for sure to get to at least the semifinals, but I can also see him losing earlier than that.

I don't have any personal beef with Ram, I was giving an opinion on the possibilities of the tournament. We'll see what happens when the games start.

Hopefully he recovers within those 2 weeks, but that is a very bad sign for him to have ankle problems, since the first grass tournament is around one month away, and clay where you have to slide and move around a lot, could be tough on that ankle. I'm sure he will make an appropriate decision as to decide what is best for him to do going forward.

I don't get why Fiorentino receives all that wild cards...is he some russian or sicilian mafia old boss' son?

He is the son of the business partner of Fabricio Valdiviezo, the organizer of most of the challengers in Ecuador. That's why he usually gets WC's here.

Here you can see an old interview in Spanish: http://www.tenisecuador.com/Entrevista-a-Fabricio-Valdivieso.html

after three days of postponing matches and rain delays, they decided to start at 11:00 a.m rather than at 2:00 p.m.
well, it's never too late to elaborate this impossible plan to succeed in playing all matches in a day

Great week for Ryler so far! Won the doubles with Duclos, and plays Soeda in the final. Soeda has to be the favourite here, but hopefully Ryler has a little more magic left in him this week!

Soeda d. DeHeart 7-6(5) 6-2

Pretty close first set, 3 breaks for each player and Ryler served 6-5 to close it. Then it was a one-sided second set at least from the scoreboard view.
