If i were Gil and Machado i would have planned the whole thing in a different way: play Ct Rai-Roma last week, have some day off and then try the qualies at Roma Master 1000 and in case they didn't succeed in getting in the main draw, ask for a wild card in Tunis...

correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't they not be allowed to play Tunis had they entered Rome 1000 qualies? That's playing 2 tournaments scheduled for the same week:scratch:

Rome qualies are tomorrow morning; losing first round they could answer for a WC for Tunis which is next week

they don't do it like this with the Sunrise Challenger in Indian Wells week, don't they?

BTW, it was a matter of ambitions for Gil and Machado; they could try Rome Master 1000 qualies, preparing 'em doing last week's challenger

The 1st and 4th quarters are tough. Chucho, Clement, Ilhan, Ouanna, Rochus. I don't know who I think will come out from there. And I think ERV is going to upset Serra. I guess Ramirez Hidalgo or Gil will come from that section.

I can see Ouahab making the semis here, but I guess Kunitsyn will. Vliegen seems to be struggling mightily.

I think Kiwi is going to make it through his section, even with it being his first tournament back. Brands is a great match-up for Kiwi.

Yeah, Ouahab is probably the favorite to move past that section, but if Igor is ever going to do something decent on clay, the draw he has is the perfect opportunity. That's a completely wide open part of the draw, especially compared to the others.

I hope for Marchenko, however clay is not his surface

I would have said Marchenko, but he doesn't play well on clay, and he doesn't seem comfortable on the surface. I think he could lose his first match. But he does have decent chances for a QF, and if he played someone like Reister or Kunitsyn, he could do a semifinal, which would be a good result for him.

Arnaud had a huge complaint with the line calls in the tiebreak of the 1st set at *5-4, long break, and after that he played horribly. Arnie doesn't like clay and seemed to be here for the paycheck basically, so it's not like this loss is a surprise.

This loss is good for Chucho, hopefully he wins his first match.

To me it looked like the umpire showed the mark was out, but Clement didn't see the mark and asked the umpire to show it again. Then the umpire didn't find the mark anymore. After 10 or more minutes discussion, Torebko hit an ace for 7-4.

Already it was looking like touching the line but when he asked the umpire to check the guy doesn't show something real on the court he just say yeah it's out and after he was unable to refind the famous ball and more funny the line judge came and show another mark :lol Well, if the ball was out we can say that the call and the check was very profesionnal

Anyway Clement was really poor and played too bad to deserve the win but the german is also a poor player. Both was bad today almost a future matches :tennis:

No, but didn't you see that this French boy wrote how bad Torebko is.
I just read back, yeah. Well he already caught my eye beating Amado in Q; Clement even tanking and on clay should be able to beat a poor futures player. It means the guy is not that bad, though Chucho will roll past him whatever his level is :hearts:

It's a shame that Joo Sousa was too tired, but anyway, good win by Machado, another one... Machada it's one of the best challenger level player's in clay, at this moment.

Another good score for Torebko. So this "Clement and Torebko were so bad" was just fanboy bullshit talk.
If you talks about me i maintain that the games i saw from the first round of Clement/Torebko bored me to tears. An UE match :o with no consistency.
What I could says about Torebko is that he plays quite deep and moves correctly on clay but as i don't see many winners i can't tell about his best shot but he has an erractic serve with DF in a row or big serves. He quite young but for me he's not ready for these big challenger. I only speak about what i saw cos i didn't know that guy before and as i saw during that 5/6 games too many UE and poor shots from both i wrote that they were bad. It's my view of what i saw.

I don't see Acasuso match but it seems that he was in control with 4 breaks, it's only his second match and he beats this guy quite easily.

Acasuso is still in bad form. He limited to play important games, 3 last ones each set. When he served to close the match was broken badly but just after re-broke. Chucho made good shots specially forehand winners but his physical condition is doubtfull... if he plays a 3set match probably will go down cause his slow movements. I'm waiting for a decent rival, till now only sparrings.
