DelBo's talent was never in doubt; he has to improve a lot if he wants to get in the top 50
19 years old it's not too late, but it's even not too early...(i just think of nadal, del potro recently)
it's not too late to be a good player, but long long long way to go to the top
he is a little bit too fat with too thin legs, and someday mentally low to get in the match
today ramos vinolas just choke on 6-4 3-2 with 6 break points
for his skills and talent had to be a 6-3 6-2 for DelBo...

he reminds me of bellucci at the same age; great pressure on the ball, good talent, but the brazilian was fisically strong even at 19 years old
this is the question; who should we compare Del Bonis with (in the future two or three years): a Dolgopolov(wonderful and talented player, but never reach the top 30), a Bellucci (solid top 30 player) or a Del Potro (Us Open champion) ?
for sure you can't fight at a high level without the basic fisical training

Schukin-Del Bonis 6-4 6-4, too bad
when a smart player places his shots on Del Bo's backhand for long rallies, he always lose the point
lot to improve fisically, mentally and tactically

On clay is weak. Lack of any defensive. Bad returns.
Ungur without fixing can be solid chellenger player on clay. Skugor just cant be,and im sure he will not be:)
No offence.

Skugor win 2 match in quali came in 1st round with form and big motiv , normal that Skugor like that is danger for player like Ungur who play nothing this year, for me it's clearly normal resultat i bet on Skugor and smiling when i see stupid bookies who paying 2,50 or more on Franko, after that i have feeling that he can suprise DiMauro , but , when i see last resultats of DiMauro i stay away from that bet ... today i know alll that and bet against Skugor and take good money..always look who came from quali :wavey:

What a dashingly swell offer on Galung!!! +3.5 hcp at a ratio of 1.8!!!! Magnificent bid just fabulous.....seized with stalwart joy!

Lad has been absolutely marvellous this week, his 1st serve is almost perfect!, managed to push old serveless pusher Pippo to the narrow edge 1 week ago and here performs as a veritable revelation, after sloppy commencings wiped out RRH! and completely erased very sharp chap Agut, seems to be eventually picking up his form after dreadful long-haul slump when he was forced to overcome absense of confidence and deterioration to the Futures level.

I'm always mesmerized to see you exclamation-level excited, but isn't this 6-1 over a decent clay contender Kiki Rochus by Volandri today worrying a bit? Easy job over MVA as well (and an unknown reason lapse versus Viola, maybe an effect of a players party). Pippo can close it in two sets.

volandri has no chance in these matchups nowadays

Nah, I was just trying to make someone smile but I failed.

On a serious note, Ouahab seems solid this week, but Pippo, apart from the awful match against Viola, did serve three breadsticks to players like MVA, Rochus and also this poor Galung. Of course he isn't top 30 anymore but the class is still there, just like Chela could pull a stunt in Houston. Plus, as someone mentioned, the line judges at this event are Italian. Once again, I am only expressing an *opinion*, if I had all thoughts correct I'd be a billionaire.

I just came back from the courts, wonderful day out there and lot of interesting (i hope) news about: Schukin, Ouahab, Del Bonis, Skugor and Stefano Pescosolido(great italian tennis talent, who should have had a better career in the top 30) talking about italian tennis' young guns
First of all i can tell everybody that none of the calls made by the linesmen was wrong; Huta was discussing about a sign on the line that even he couldn't find...
And i'm not telling this because i'm italian, because i really enjoy Huta's game and wished for a better result for him.
He became nervous because Volandri was improving his game to good old days game after game and he recalled to his mind the loss of a week ago in which he won first set 6-1, to finally lose 1-6 6-3 6-4
I will be back with the complete report and some good shot of the player in action!

I arrived at the Rai Tennis Club just in time to attend the warm up of Schukin-Ouahab; weather was cloudy with some occasional little spray of rain.

Schukin-Ouahab

Ouahab won the draw choosing to answer.
Schukin had a really bad start losing serve and had to work hard just to be close to Lamine.
He suffered a lot the Algerian's variations: sliced backhand, drop shots, top spin forehand, some volley at the net.
Yuri gave a lot of easy points, winning his ones after struggling in long rallies.
The key of first set was at Ouahab-Schukin *3-2 30-30; Lamine played two excellent winners (straight forehand and a passing backhand) right when Yuri was giving his best to come back into the set.
I have been surprised from Ouahab's first serve; usually he is not so good, while today (i don't have the stats) he played a 80% or something like that losing a few points.
In the second i had the impression that Schukin went down due to a bit of lack of confidence (and somehow he confirmed that to me, talking after the match).
The second ended 6-2, with Ouahab managing his mental approach at high levels in every crucial point.

Bednarek/Kowalczyk-Witten/Coetzee

The polish guys played a square match, really solid, made of explosive first serves and smart tactics. The Us-South African double was kind of relaxed playing just for fun, with a little exception for Jesse Witten's occasional curses.

Volandri-Huta Galung

I was wandering in the outdoor players lounge before the match; Volandri seemed relaxed and didn't take a long time warming up, while Huta did.
That could partially explain a slow start for Volandri; the dutch played a perfect tennis, celebrated and appreciated also by italian fans.
He has a wonderful impact on the ball, particularly on the backhand. Every shot seems easy, and watching him live you have the impression of an unknown Federer or Edberg from Netherlands.
Something went wrong with a call from the baseline; i had the impression that the ball was very close to the line. Jesse called the chairman to verify, but even he couldn't find exactly
were the sign was.
He lost a little his magic tennis with a couple of lost struggled points that gave confidence to Volandri.
From 5-1 Huta Galung to 5-5 we saw an extraordinary level of tennis from both the players; for the first time in months i had the impression that Volandri is on the way back to a good top 100 Atp level of play.
Fisically, mentally and about "feeling the ball".
After Volandri went 6-5, Jesse stopped playing, bothered by every long and hard rally lost.
I argue that Volandri is searching the condition (and he is at a good level IMO) to defend a WC in the Internazionali di Tennis Master 1000.
Huta Galung gave me the impression of a wonderful player with touch, with mental lacks of concentration.
Let's consider that he came out of the qualies and could be possibly mentally tired.

Short interviews to the players.

Del Bonis
He told me that he felt a little tired after struggling with Ramos Vinolas, reaching the maximum efforts with the struggled matches he made in Naples.
I asked about his areas of improvement; he agreed with me about the mental strenght and the tactic aspects.
Del Potro is his personal role model but he also appreciates Bellucci that i mentioned as a similar style of play.
He is very focused on Roland Garros qualies and hopes to reach a good ranking to play his chances in the bigger atp tournaments.

Skugor
He said he needed a week off to recover his stamina. Then he will play Vicenza and try to get in the main draw in Belgrade, which he mentioned as a big opportunity. He has no role model; i was surprised when he showed nonchalance about some national hero like Goran, Ljubicic or Cilic.
He also set Federer as an absolute model of perfection in playing tennis.
A little curiosity; i asked him about his favourite surfaces(and giving him my congratulations for this week on clay), thinking about hard indoor.
He said that he loves playing outdoor(beacuse of the courts where he began playing tennis when he was a kid), no matter if clay or hard.

Ouahab
He seemed tired and in bad mood to me, despite his fit victory. He said that he felt pretty confident in this week, but when i made a comment about the possibility
for him to get in top 100 by keeping this level of tennis he reacted in a discouraged way, stating that it could be too hard for him.
He mentioned the match with Gil in the qualies at Casablanca complaining about the missed opportunity.
I had the impression that he is only focused in playing challengers at the moment, giving up the qualies in biggest tournaments.

Schukin
Very nice and disposable person, first of all.
I asked him about Ouahab's tricky game with lot of variations and peculiar shots; he said that it has never been a problem to him and that in the past struggles with Lamine never had troubles with this style of tennis.
He admitted a not good stamina for the match and a little lack of confidence in the second set due to not good results lately.
After that he expressed confidence for the next tournaments, trying to improve his form through practice.
On Del Bonis: good serve, great forehand, but has to be more solid.

Pescosolido
I asked him about the young guns of italian tennis, considering the troubled times of the bigs (Bolelli, Starace, Volandri, Seppi).
He said that he trusts in Trevisan for his level of play, in particular after the latest results.
Fabbiano is just down under and in third mention Comporto.
He complained a little for his career, but said to have no remorse after all.
He had been really impressed by Del Bonis predicting a top 30 Atp for his talent.

Unfortunately i didn't succeed in chatting a little with Volandri and Huta Galung because of the crowd at the end of the match surrounding the players.
I just can say that Volandri has a pretty girlfriend, and Huta Galung is the national hero of all the ladies from 10 to 99 years old.
I too have a pretty girlfriend and i thank her for the shots that i'm going to post...that's all!
