GSM Olivier. He won in the end, but wow, so pathetic. From 7-5 4-1 and triple break point and serving for it at 5-4 to 5-7 and eventually a TB in the third set. Not gonna beat whomever he has next like that.

Ouanna def. Cervantes-Huegun 3-6, 6-3, 6-2

Ouanna played at 20% all 1st and 2nd set.

He was walking all over the court and throwing balls to the net. He broke to Cervantes doing nothing (double faults and stupid UE's of Iigo). It was really incredible Ouanna could win 2nd set cause french server didn't want to play. In the 3rd set Ouanna recovered his normal play and, logically, he won easy.

Sames situation as Ascione/Patience match in the previous day.

Strange tournament, local players playing below their normal level.

One thing I wanna clear...

I like Przyeszny's style playing on indoor hard and carpet... and I think he's class and could go up in the ATP ranking... but his perfomance in the outdoor season usually is bad because he's not very fighter.

Starting a match like today against Spanish, Argentinian or good French players he's no chances to win.

In fact, in indoor season, when he has played against servers and lost the 1st set... many time he lost in straight sets.

He's not called Polish Federer for nothing :) He battled back from the brink in so many sets in this tournament I cannot really believe it knowing his love for going MIA in matches when something's not going his way. When he's awful, he *really* is awful, but today he's brilliant in long patches, and is having long looks into his opponent's service games, which is surprising and a good measure of his form.

This doesn't mean I won't post my opinions pre, during and after matches in several forum sections outside of the gamblers lounge. After all, this is what this board is for. I am impossibly happy that Michał won the match and made the final; if Poland could have two ATP players in top 100, this would be something unreal. I've never thought I would live till that time... (ok, maybe I won't). I see the other Polish posters are more optimistic about this really happening :).

PS. On a side note, my Betfair doesn't offer challengers.

Don't take it seriously.

About Przyeszny, is a player increasing his level in final rounds and against important rivals.
In SF and playing against a Top100 player, both conditions were presents so he played well and totally focused on the match.

Tomorrow in the final, he meets RRH, a Spanish player whom I know well.
Difficult to predict the winner, but, of course I hope Ruben takes the title.
Nevertheless, it'll be a good match.

Haha, I don't; it's just Excalibur and I have a story from a gamblers lounge. Apparently I don't have the time to follow the challenger tour (except from the Przysiężny scores) since I am not running my website anymore. But because I want to get my page back soon, I should get some orientation :). This is why I'm back in the challenger threads :p.

Michał is a low motivation player; I still have his DC matches in front of my eyes! Later he struggled and eventually lost to absolutely achievable players in the next events, no wonder I'm a pessimist before the final too... Although, gamewise, he's got enough to beat RRH. Hopefully they'll show us the good sides, not the bad ones, since they're both "awful when they play awful" :)

Przysiezny is a wonderful and talented player
He is one of my favourite to watch; he has a top 20 Atp level of play IMAO
I ask myself why at 25 y.o. he has a best ranking of 120 atp...
Some polish can answer this...? Nathi?

I don't know if that is the reason but in 2007 he had a very bad knee injury and didn't played for 1 year or something like that so it really stopped his career. Before the injury he started to play well,he qualified for the US Open. But the main case is that he started his career in 2000-2002 so it was really late.In 2009 he jumped like 200 places in the ATP ranking so it was huge.I hope he will be at least in the TOP 50 in the next few years, cause for sure he have the potential.Wish him the best :)

In indoor is a great player.

In Outdoor is different, he saves energy frequently and consequently loses a lot.

A player who loses against CM Stebe or Ebden is not a Top20 level. It doesn't mean that Michal can't win a Top20 player anytime.
In fact, is a player prefering important matches, although in DC he lost at home against the finnish indoor prodigy.

Surgeries for both knees and other injuries. Never cool to play with pain that comes back. Plus his attitude in the past was slightly saying questionable. These days it comes back, but as the scores show, not so often anymore :) Very well done

Michal isn't so mentally strong to beat a TOP20 player. He had a lot of chances in the important matches, and usually he lost (e.g last DC against Nieminen and Kontinen).

In spite off all, big congratulations Ołwek! :)

i also noticed he often give up after losing first set, which luckily didn't happen with RRH
for those who watched the final, a very spectacular match with a Ramirez Hidalgo in great shape running on every ball
wish michal to enter in top 50, we need some more player with touch and talent in the main tournaments!
