Well played Verdasco - he wasn't good in the first but gradually started to dictate play, his serve improved and the groundies just had more penetration and direction than Roddick's, which ended up mostly up the middle with not much on them.

Showed good cojones to serve that out when he had the break.

Congrats Nando! :hatoff:

Impressed to see that he came back from a set down and 0-30 down whilst serving it out to eventually hold his nerve and clinch victory against a top 10 player to boot. His first in over a year. About time. :p

Roddick really should stop pushing.

Vamos Nando. Time to win a big match against the big guns now. He needs to try and improve his net game, he could be shitload more dangerous.

Roddick passive as always. If the guy just had the guts to flatten his strokes/be aggressive for even 25% of the time, he'd be very dangerous.

affirmative. it is indeed good for the game. roddick had about 4 of these titles already if i am not mistaken.

its time somebody else got a little ahead as well.

nobody saw this coming but it is a great win. it should furnish verdasco with some added confidence.

great win for Verdasco :yeah: he's too talented to have won so few titles in his career  and of course it's always nice to see the annoying punk lose a close final :hearts:

Verdasco should play as many events in the US as he can  He seems to do well on our hardcourts, and he's beaten Roddick and Querrey in tight 3 setters to win titles now (San Jose and New Haven last year).

He stopped giving away so many free points in the last 2 sets and started returning Roddick's serve better, which was the difference. Roddick was solid throughout but once Verdasco wasn't double faulting or making wild misses, Andy became frustrated.

and these 2 could actually meet again next week in Memphis :spit:

Also maybe improved mental strength. He was so close to getting broken back at 0-40 early in the second set, and of course 0-30 closing out, but he didn't lose control. :D

great point. this is why i was saying that this win over a top player in a final should furnish verdasco with some added confidence.

Roddick was pretty bad....a pusheriffic performance.

Verdasco served very well, and dictated play with his forehand.

The radar gun was so off. It was saying that Verdasco hit a 150 mph serve....and about 10 140 mph serves.

impressive serving by Dasco in the 2nd and 3rd sets, great placement and power. The serve is so important on this surface, if he could maintain that and improve a little bit mentally, he'd be a blast in the hardcourt season, especially in the US.

As for Roddick he's destined for a fall if he doesn't change his tactics and his attitude. Way too defensive and negative when it mattered, Querrey should have beaten him but justice was served at the end.

Nando!:yeah: Finally he gets another top 10 scalp after constantly pushing them to extensive 3 set matches last year. Should do wonders for his confidence and prove his rise up the ranks and his SF result at last year's AO was hardly a fluke. Hopefully he can do the double with Memphis next.

Stop pushing Andy, and you would easily:
be ranked higher
have won more titles
be a multi-Slam winner

The boy will never learn sadly. How one can have one of the most feared forehands ever seen, to pushing that shit mid-court is astounding.

Because his forehand is very inconsistent, he can't hit constant winners, an all attacking game is not something hes comfortable with.

Roddick's serve has gone shit. He hardly had any service game dictated by his serve because of the low speed. Verdasco was serving much better and faster. Roddick's serve is barely top 5 these days. He has lost quite some speed on it. It was the key factor in this match.

Agreed. Roddick can still play aggressively (his match against Roger in Madrid last year was impressive at times), it's not like he has to push.

I'm struggling to think of a player who's changed completely from aggressive to defensive baseliner as much as Roddick has.

If you define gay as "not attracted to Brooklyn Decker", I certainly am.

So Mirka is bashed because she's not a model and Brooklyn because she is?

:rolls:

Not BECAUSE Brooklyn she is a model, but because she's bland, some camera angles make her face look unflattering and she looks like she's going to break up into 10 000 icicles any second. As much as I can tell from the tv screen (and from photos I browsed through right now), she has perfect (below-the-neck) body but doesn't have personality which would radiate from her and make her REALLY sexy. Her sexiness lies only in her butt and tits. ZzZzZzZ.
