Roddick-Blake first round :o
There goes a huge opportunity for points for James.
Really it's what he deserves for tanking a 500 the week before when he needs all the points he can get.

Looking at the 1st quarter, you definitely can't accuse the tournament of rigging the draw.

According to the Memphis paper, James is the one who drew his own name against Andy :rolls:

Ohhhhh man, JB!

Might be advisable for him to stay in the USA once the IW & Miami Masters are over...he'd surely win more points in challengers than if he moves onto European clay.

Looks like Haas will be talking to himself for much of the week...bet he is enjoying the prospect of playing the two biggest giants on Tour.

He made the final of Estoril last year.

He made the final of Estoril last year.

Yep, I hadn't forgotten that. :p

But the way things are going at the moment, he is unlikely to hit that sort of form within the next couple of months to be able to repeat such results on his least favourite surface. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have always considered Blake to be a 'confidence' player, and whilst he might not be playing badly at present (haven't seen enough of him to judge), he isn't getting used to that winning feeling.

He knows as well as we all do that his most significant points will fall off within the next 4 months (Estoril and Queen's Club), and that could put him just about outside the top 100.

If he were to stay on in the USA and play some hard court challengers he might be able to cushion his ranking and be ready to push forwards from the beginning of the grass court season, rather than need to make up a large amount of lost ground (if he chooses to play European clay and falls flat on his face).

It's like a re-hashed San Jose draw!
