Well he can't break serve playing like that, I can count the number of baseline points he's won on one hand. I'd say when his serve is firing like it is there's even more reason to be aggressive

he's not bad as the general opinion of MTF on him is
he made a stupid comment without thinking too much and got crucified for it

He has his moments, but that comment deserved the treatment it got.

Andy will win the next 12

Seriously, they're completely different. Roddick has done well to win a slam, and he always gives 110%. When he retires he can look back pretty happily on his career knowing he's tried his best. He's never going to have the same sort of talent as Federer.

He is still an arse clown and a prick. He has done well for himself in his career.

Not in Clement's league.

Little cockroach he is.

I don't like OM either :ras: my former football coach was a die-hard fan and was sooo annoying with his fanboyism

I actually don't follow a French team at all, but if there was one it would be Metz. Yes, I know some crazy OM fans.

JM  It was bound to happen, Roger is far from done imo. The only thing is that his movement seems to have deteriorated, I don't know if he has the time to recover fully for the clay season. He will be fine eventually though.

Yes, he will be fine and then the knee jerk reactions will change again.

No way Rafa wins this. I'll be surprised if he gets 8 games.

Jinxing is so passe.

Tomas you are a tool :smash:

Jaro's facial expressions along with the mullet are priceless.

let's see Tomas desintegrate now

Yes, he got the pink dress back from the dry cleaners in time.

The match is all about Berdych. Rafa has gone back to defensive mode in this match (apart from occasionally), it's just lucky Berdych is making more errors than he is winners. If Birdman goes on a hot streak the match is his, even at a set and a break down. It looks unlikely though.

I guess you can call it smart from Rafa seeing as he's winning the match, but I don't like seeing him play like this again.

Well Berdych was slapping forehands into Cuba, you got to do what it takes to win.

At least Tomas showed some form this event, though as we all know, the things that hold him back came to the fore. I mean it's like Roddick can hit the backhands down the line now and then, but can he do it under pression.

Tomas has got a flight to Moscow now, but the reactions are hilarious with him, though not to the level of the Nalbandwagonistas. They either overpraise or go overboard with the criticism.

Nadal played it very intelligently, if the opponent wants to hand out presents like Santa on LSD at Christmas time, then you are going to feed that.

It's going to be interesting to see how many fans Davydenko will appear to have all of a sudden.

Won't happen, he is too low profile, not sexy enough.

The stupidity levels of MTF can never be underestimated.

He gets a lot of fans saying he is actually a good player shockingly and saying he just played the best match of his life because they've never seen him play before. They won't be fans by the time he is on his flight out of Miami though.

Hard to say without seeing his type of game/standard. I'm playing with a Head MicroGel Radical at the moment, I love it. But they're pretty expensive for a beginner. Don't buy the Babolat PureDrive whatever you do :o

I'd say go for a slightly older model, you can usually get them quite cheap. Is he using an adult racquet?

He is a pretty lousy player:p He had lessons once a week during the summer of 2006 but I was not really happy with the coaching. And only Sam would come with me on the weekends to practice. Anyway he is taller than hubby now so I would say he can use an adult racquet  The problem with high school teams is that the really good players have been playing for years so they will be the coach's focus. The other kids just shuffle off to hit balls with very little coaching technique. If Nate remains interested I would consider having him take lessons again. We no longer belong to a club so I'd have to find someone. I work with a guy ( one of our physicists) who is an excellent player. His son who is 12 had wanted to be a pro but decided a year ago he wanted to be a kid again :p But this kid is excellent and my friend has offered to have him play with both my guys while my friend coaches. That might be a plan for part of the summer.
Anyway we will look at Prince and Wilson most likely.

He doesn't have a large fanbase and that's good. He doesn't hit himself on the head with a racquet, come up with some mumbo jumbo and is called charismatic or writes funny blogs.

PMK is one hilarious guy, just people miss it. He will be forgotten about soon enough for his tennis and the match fixing will be raised again.

I have question, completely different from what you guys are discussing here right now of corse ;). I don't want to start a thread on GM, because most people can't give you a simple answer over there anyway.

Is a player allowed to challenge a call that has been made on one of his own shots. For example, I hit a first serve and get it fired back at me. However, I thought the serve was long/wide. Can I now challenge the call to get a 2nd serve?

Btw, what do you teach Linda?

I don't know ... it happened to Fed in the Wimbledon final last year. He hit a serve that WAS out and he was obviously expecting it to be called, but it wasn't. So he hesitated and let Rafa back into the point and Rafa won it. It might even have been the "hits a winner while sitting on his backside" point.

I'm happy but i dont know if Muzza can be helped, i dont want Alex thinking 'why am i wasting my time here' but there is no gaurentee of success is there? wonder if Muzza will abuse him when things are going wrong - i doubt it.

last times i remember Muzza on clay he couldnt even beat Lisnard, but did reach RG jun Semis in 05.

True, it's the great unknown. If he can't learn anything tactically from this guy, he might as well get Jim Leighton to coach him.

Another gem, the pure brillance is only increased by the originality of the post :worship:
Yes, but since it's an unknown how his improvements on hard court may translate to clay, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. At this point, the only three people I could imagine seeing win the FO are Nadal (85%), Djokovic (10%), and *perhaps* Davydenko (5%). I think Federer's done with FO and with slams in general.

I see GWH is feeling more chipper today. Never in doubt.

Yana, I thought the hate for Nole was universal and not just a Feddytard thing? Although they certainly do spend an enormous amount of time talking about him in the Fed forum. It's like their obsession with Nadal, they have more information on Roger's rivals over there than they do on Roger himself. :aplot:

Worst week/month of my life, Andreea
 All your pain will be forgotten when Roger wins Roland Garros and/or UglyAndy wins USO. I'm convinced that USO will be Murray's first slam win. I don't know why. It just feels like a good fit for him.

stebs, you must be thrilled for your man. You're like the only Davydenko fan that I know of. If you're curious to know what I thought of his match with Andy you can read it here (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=6837242&postcount=1439).

Barry Cowan thinks it is the wrong choice. He thinks Andy needs to attack on clay, and Corretja is pure defending. Cowan is a genius.
