Morning! :wavey:

Just popped in to check the result and omg colour me shocked! I saw Roddick win the TB but when I was going to bed he was in trouble on serve at the beggining of the second set and I thought if it went to three Roger would surely pull it off. How did this happen?

Congrats to the Ducktard  (we only have one here, right?), I know how happy I was when Rafa finally beat Blake, you must be this happy x 4. ;)

   to all the Fedtards, this has got be painful and so unexpected. It's taking Roger a while to get back to form, but look at the bright side, at least he's playing and getting fitter rather than staying at home and losing all his points.

I can't read back now, will do later. :wavey:

Seriously, they're completely different. Roddick has done well to win a slam, and he always gives 110%. When he retires he can look back pretty happily on his career knowing he's tried his best. He's never going to have the same sort of talent as Federer.

Very good points, Adam.

Despise is too strong a word. I like most of his press conference but I'm not really a fan of him as a tennis player. I very much agree with: " you can't begrude him a win after some of the hammerings he's had and the dignity he's taken them with" - and I can fully understand that his fans are over the moon about this victory and are gloating just a bit now.

So Federer lost again. Oh well, I was quite sure he would once the first set was done and good that I went to bed because if I had stayed for the second I would've destroyed myself staying awake for the third.

I am not annoyed by these defeats I am just hoping that Federer will be moving well again soon. Good for Roddick to finally get one over the Fedster and whilst I am not his fan he is hugely underrated on these forums, clearly a good player and his rankings have suggested as much for most of the last 6 years.

Happy Birthday Adam. ;)

I don't "begrudge" him a win, actually. I am just one of those nostalgic sorts...I was sad when Sampras started losing - and I couldn't stand the guy. I'm so sentimental. :rolls: Federer beating Roddick is one of the things we could count on in tennis.

We don't bicker - I don't know what Adam was talking about.

It's a valid question, and I don't mind answering. He is very often disrespectful to OTHER people when things don't go his way. I don't mind, say, Murray yelling at his hand or mumbling to himself when he's playing poorly. Even Marat, who often has spectacular tantrums on-court, directs his anger at himself. Roddick takes it out on the umpire, the ballkids and even his opponent sometimes. I don't "hate" the guy, but his immaturity certainly doesn't make me a fan either.

Aimee thanks for not gloating yesterday, don't know how you did it I would have been unbearable in your place

I know I noticed that, that's why I wanted to tthank here, especially given how awful we are everytime Nole loses.
I've now seen another god thing about Roger's loss :D
I will enjoy it [s]if[/] when he wins his next tournament much more than I ever have in 2006 or 2007 (except for wimby and Hamburg)

Claire, I don't even dislike Nole that much any more I must say. :o :o

But about the cockiness - you have to be confident and even over-confident to certain extent to achieve soemthing. 'Nice' guys finishing last is not just a saying.

Marat is just plain funny:lol:   Yes, he spends time being a brat on court, but it's directed towards himself.

I'm accustomed to Andy's rants. I don't think they are nice, but I don't get upset with him.

Q. Last week you lost to Mardy Fish in Indian Wells. Today you've lost to another American, Andy Roddick. Do you think perhaps with these series of matches you're having with Sampras that perhaps they're learning from the old master about how to play against you?
ROGER FEDERER: I really doubt that. (laughter.) Those surfaces are too quick, and nobody plays like Pete, so it has nothing to do with these matches.

I just saw an article in l'Equipe that's making me quite furious, do politicians know how to do anything other than being PC:fiery:. For YEARS there have been racists banners and slogans displaid in football stadiums and absolutely NOTHING was done apart from a little slap on the wrist.

But last week some stupid PSG fans put up a banner insulting "northerners" and what a surprise the authorities are coming down on them like a ton of bricks. Don't get me wrong I think it's great that something is finally being done, but I hate it because it's for all the wrong reasons.

A month ago a movie was released in theater that was a comedy about northerners, it became the second if not THE biggest succes in the history of french cinema and it's the only reason the politicians are stepping in :smash: Where were they when banners saying : "on n'est pas raciste la preuve on t'encule" were shown two weeks ago :fiery:
All it does is proving they don't give a shit about racism, unless it's mediatized enough to gain them bonus points in the polls.....

Hello everyone :wavey:

Berdych  :scared: I can't believe the majority has voted for Rafa to win this match...

Well, 3 hours of sleep to watch such terrible things... Never again, I'm sick of tennis, mugs sport... I'm into the Euro08 now, then the Olympics... No more tennis... NO MORE, never again !!! :bigcry:  :bigcry:

JM I understand your frustration but don't be so sad  Just because Roger lost to Roddick in a Masters event doesn't mean he doesn't have any slams left in him. He's still the top contender for Wimbledon and probably US Open as well and one of the top conetenders for RG. No need to abandon tennis just because he is not as dominant any more .

Morning Hilde! Yeah, that's a shocker indeed! I guess Fed is still not over the mono yet.
I had to finally give the blood analysis. Nothing serious I hope. Maybe I need to increase my thyroid medication and btw my endocrinologist (a lady over 40) eloped to France with a man. She said she's not married to her job so I have to go to a new endocrinologist.

People still elope in the 21st century? :haha:

I hope your tests come back OK

Btw, why were the fangirls upset with Roddick's win? This gives Rafa his best ever chance of reaching #1

If Federer wins last night he reaches the final minimum, probably wins the tourney and also gives him some confidence for the clay court season. As it is, Rafa has a great chance to win the title if he gets past Berdych, and even if he doesn't he's shown enough in the last few weeks to suggest he's going to defend a lot of his points on clay. Federer I'm not so convinced about. Don't worry about Djokovic, he'll be #1 but not quite yet, I think Rafito will get there before him unless Federer rediscovers his form.

And even if you despise Andy, surely you can't begrude him a win after some of the hammerings he's had and the dignity he's taken them with.

:yeah: I agree. I was not upset at all about Federer's loss. I was rather indifferent to the result.

Good morning everyone, the happy token Ducktard is back. No, I'm not here to gloat or troll the bruised Feddytards (who will go into hiding for the next month anyway like they usually do, at least until Novak loses again). I just want to focus on celebrating my maligned Andy right now. :aparty:

elessar, thanks for your post in the AR forum. But I hate your avatars. First Nikolay being all sexy and now the human ass shelf? *barf*

Nice siggy pic again, Linda. Appropo.

Just because Roger lost to Roddick in a Masters event doesn't mean he doesn't have any slams left in him. He's still the top contender for Wimbledon and probably US Open as well and one of the top conetenders for RG. No need to abandon tennis just because he is not as dominant any more .
Stop it. Your good sense is taking the fun out of fan hysteria and overreaction. Go post that crap in non-tennis. :(

Well, think of it like this. At least he didn't lose to Roddick in an important event.
Please tell me you're trolling or being sarcastic because even you're not this stupid, although I've seen how you allow your bitterness to cloud your judgement before. Since when was an AMS tournament (and the so-called "fifth slam" at that) not an important event? AMS tourneys whose draws could actually be more difficult than a slam's? You've lost it, George. Go take a cold shower.

Sorry Fedtards  you can throw your support behind Birdman now :D
And Davydenko. Suddenly Nikolay has tons of fans. :p

btw, I hope you know I was just teasing you the other day. Just wanted to roast you a bit on your birthday. Everybody is entitled to that.

I don't mind Roger be beatten by an ass if that would help Rafa reaching no.1. ;) But the Duck is a good guy IMO...
It is good to see one of the few around here who speaks truthiness. :worship:

It's a valid question, and I don't mind answering. He is very often disrespectful to OTHER people when things don't go his way. I don't mind, say, Murray yelling at his hand or mumbling to himself when he's playing poorly. Even Marat, who often has spectacular tantrums on-court, directs his anger at himself. Roddick takes it out on the umpire, the ballkids and even his opponent sometimes. I don't "hate" the guy, but his immaturity certainly doesn't make me a fan either.
For the record, Roddick has never called a linesperson a **** the way Murray has, and Safin curses at people in Russian which makes him far more charming and his transgressions forgiveable. :inlove:

 I saw that earlier
Who thinks it was Angiel that asked the question :D ?
Hee! Angiel.

I'm still trying to get the image of Kolya "packing a 10 incher" out of my mind.

 Looks like I've launched a debate here.

I'll try to explain it better :
There have always been morons at football stadium holding up racists banners (specifically made to piss of the opposing team)
that night, PSG ( Paris team) played against Lens (a town completely in the north of France) they held up a banner insulting people living in the north. now I really don't think there's any kind of racism going on towards them in france, it was just moronic supporters that used the fact that the media had been talking on and on a movie about that region.

Metis

I see; so there was just that one incident during the football match.

Tomas is generically the favourite on hardcourts against Rafa, even though for some reason the betting markets have Rafa as the slight favourite for the match. - at Berdych
- at Sheryl sig ( I can't bad rap her)
- at MTF rules that make me not able to bad rep Sheryl
- at life
- at Roddick beating Fed making Fedtards wanting Rafa to lose badly(if they need a reason for that )
- at weather( no wind, not enough sun)
- Rafa's 1st serve
..... life sucks!
