I had a cat that made that face just before he was ready to take a swipe at me. Of course it was usually when it was time to put him in the pet carrier, which he hated...so maybe he got pissed BECAUSE he was scared.

Yes they tend to hate that ; I had a cat that could understand when we were talking about him, especially when we were getting ready to give him medicine for his ear infection (it was a difficult task, my dad and I had to hold him while my mom would drop the medicine into his ears ); He would lift his head looking at us with a terrified expression and then run to hide .

Hey everyone:wavey:

They are scary as hell. I am technically a "moderator" there because before the website went to hell I used to write for it. But then around the time of Novak's rise to fame they started treating me like shit so I no longer have anything to do with his official site :) So please mock it all you wish, it amuses me. I think it's funny they'd prefer to have a Serb write news in broken English than someone fluent in English with a journalism degree from a top American journalism school who was writing for them for free, but that was totally their awful decision :)

But the boards are so overwhelmingly teeny that I can't stand them. I haven't been there in months. I can't be bothered to actually moderate them. Actually I hope they're awful and it makes the site look bad.. they deserve it :D

Yah. Basically in 2006 I wrote a lot of reviews of Novak's matches for the website, they weren't very good, I wasn't really motivated much to make them actually decent writing, but they were posted on there and I was fine with it. In 2007 the webmaster decided to bring 2 other people on board to write as well, and that was fine with me, and we kind of rotated who would write. Finally it's the USO final and it is my duty to write the review, and I write the whole thing up during the match so that afterwards it was ready to go up within 15 minutes. He posts it up that night, but when I wake up in the morning it's not there anymore. He replaced it with a generic article he found on Yahoo or AP or something. :armed: I then looked back and he did that all the time. Replace original writing with articles stolen from AP or Yahoo. That makes no sense.

Blah so I hate them. Waste of my time :p Back in 2006 there was a chat room on Novak's site and he used to come in and we'd have chats in the chat room and I moderated those too. Those were the good old days. :rolls:

HAHAHA I was just read Bodo's blog about the Serbs crashing out a few days earlier, here's what he thinks Novak was writing in his diary prior to the Anderson match:

Sunday: Won Pacific Life Open, had a great time at Lakers game; pretty tired, though. Mon: boring flight to Miami (gosh it's humid here); legs a little heavy; man, still can't believe I'm two for three in the last three Indian Well and Miami finals! Tues: Dragged myself through so-so practice, got some qualifier dude Anderson in first match. Wed. Miami starts today (already?), better focus. Thurs: Practiced OK. Better find out something about this Anderson. Fri: Waaahhhh!!!

Sorry if this was already posted, I just saw it now. :haha:

:rolls: I may have the degree and I like to write, but I don't do anything with it. I'm kind of a moron :)

I double majored in magazine journalism and US History (20th century), but my senior year I had a moment of clarity when I realized that I didn't want to be a journalist because although I can write, I suck (really really suck) at interviewing. So my original plan was to then use my history degree, get a masters in education, and be a history teacher. I took the tests, applied to grad school, and then had another moment of clarity where I realized (since my mother is a teacher) that to put up with being a teacher, you have to really really WANT to be a teacher, so I decided against that, and just got a job to figure out what I wanted to do with my life :p (I do love history though :hearts: )

So I'm the manager of a clothing store, working every day in a job that does not use one single minute of my education. *sigh* I'm sure my grandmother is rolling in her grave knowing that she spent $160,000 on tuition for no reason. But I hope to go back to school fairly soon though... I *think* I've decided that I want to study business and focus on marketing... but we'll see ;)

But yes after all that, no I don't write. I had liked writing for Novak's site just as a hobby. It made me feel like my degree wasn't a COMPLETE waste of time (just a small waste) but then those jerks took that away from me! :armed:

I've been thinking about getting back into it though... it'd be fun to do a little bit of it here and there :) I was thinking of starting a blog of some sort some day though :p

The WTA made a huge blunder when they tried to market the "beauty line" of their business, back to the days of Kournikova and the pictures of Myskina naked over a horse :tape: Now they are left with a shit product (the tennis that is) and they cannot compete in the beauty business with the "beauty" competitors. After suffering a loss in the second round of Sony Ericsson Open, Novak Djokovic attended a farewell party of Brasilian Gustavo Kuerten in Miami.

Former no.1 in the world, Kuerten, won 20 singles titles and 8 doubles titles since he started his professional career back in 1995. He became the world top player in 2000.
This tennis player, born in Brasilian Florianopolis, is a triple champion of Roland Garros (1997, 2000, 2001), and Masters Cup winner in 1999. He earned over 15 million dollars in his professional career.

oh my, let me fix that one :tape:

true, Tomas does have a fine 5 set record, but I used that term to emphasize how berdych has constantly failed to live up to his potential at least until this point in his career as he can't beat the big boys or advance far in a slam for example.

True, he won TMS Paris and a few MM titles, but with his talent, he can be a slam winner if not for his mental inhibitions

Good one, I would think that their Toronto 2006 match was not close at all even if it went 3 sets. The matchup for sure is better for Tomas indoors than outdoors. Their 2005 Cinci match was great, Nadal had match points before losing eventually.

oh my, let me fix that one :tape:

true, Tomas does have a fine 5 set record, but I used that term to emphasize how berdych has constantly failed to live up to his potential at least until this point in his career as he can't beat the big boys or advance far in a slam for example.

True, he won TMS Paris and a few MM titles, but with his talent, he can be a slam winner if not for his mental inhibitions
Yeah I completely agree it's just that Berdych is more up-and-down than a choker for example (if you don't count the matches against Federer and PML :tape:)

Yes :( Or Janko needs to win  But if Janko wins I need Roger to win. My opponent hates SRs apparently because he picked Janko and Roddick. So I need just one of Davydenko or Federer to win that :p Davydenko in 2 sets would be ideal for both ;)

I hate SRs as well but thats sort of crazy. I will cheer on Davydenko and drol over Janko :D

I haven't even looked at Davy. :rolls: I'm too mesmerized by the man on the other side of the net :hearts:

Janko even manages to look good on his ATP picture! :inlove:

The WTA made a huge blunder when they tried to market the "beauty line" of their business, back to the days of Kournikova and the pictures of Myskina naked over a horse :tape: Now they are left with a shit product (the tennis that is) and they cannot compete in the beauty business with the "beauty" competitors. But it would be funny to imagine marketing a potential Kuznetsova-Zvonareva final.

 In this case is really a matter of personal taste. I find them both really unatractive *understatementsmiley* The problem is that they are not charismatic, either! I find Schiavone equally ugly but more appealling! I can tolerate Sveta game, though!

It isn't about needs :p
a) When you do so much sport, you're supposed to lose weight
b) When you do so much sport, you're supposed to gain some muscles (and don't give me the left arm excuse cause his right arm is only marginally better :p)

(a) WTA and so much sport in the same sentence :tape:
(b) When you do so much sport that is not directed towards gaining muscle mass then it is no surprise that you don't gain muscle mass

There are real inhibitions in his game that prevent him from becoming a slam contender, it is not only mental.

Good one, I would think that their Toronto 2006 match was not close at all even if it went 3 sets. The matchup for sure is better for Tomas indoors than outdoors. Their 2005 Cinci match was great, Nadal had match points before losing eventually.

Perhaps I am a bit biased then

I thought the Toronto 06 was tight for the first 2 sets before Berdych blew him out in the 3rd.

Cincy 05 was quite a battle and a fine one at that.

What is your take on their Madrid 06 encounter?

Yeah I completely agree it's just that Berdych is more up-and-down than a choker for example (if you don't count the matches against Federer and PML :tape:)

Yes of course, he's no PHM, which is why the word choker is nowhere in the article ;)

Toronto 06 was not tight at all, Nadal was horrible, Berdych was on fire but had a brainfart in the 2nd set :set: The Madrid match was excellent with both playing very well, Tomas was just the better player. Overall I think indoors makes a big difference in the matchup, outdoors Berdych should win something like 6 out of 10, indoors it would be 8 out of 10.

I like Nadal still :) My appreciation of Nadal is how I met Linda and how I got caught lurking here in the first place ;)

Roddick, well, I was young when I liked him, and didn't know much better, and then I started to get really into tennis and found other favorites. I haven't liked Roddick much since 2003 ;) :p Probably because he won a Slam and it's all downhill for me once people I like win them. :( Except JCF. I love JCF still :hearts:

Novak?

JCF in 03 was pure class- for one year, maybe two as he froze against big Al in 2002 he was the best clay courter in the world. I think burnout after a truly long season in both 03 and 04 contributed to his decline after that.

I told myself it wouldn't happen with Novak but it is. His increased brattiness isn't helping things any. Almost all the Djokovic fans are feeling a bit meh about him lately. We were happy he lost because he needed to stop having things come so easily to him  He also needs to get his attitude in check. He really did used to be a sweet funny friendly guy and now he's well... :scared:

His mother is obnoxious :) And so is he :D

I (unknowingly) sat right behind her and all Ryan's friends at Ryan's match against Janko at the USO last year and they were all loud and rowdy. Cheering double faults and UEs and whatnot. I mean if people think Dijana is bad, they should sit behind Mrs. Sweeting ;)

So, to piss them off, I cheered loudly for Janko (but still at appropriate cheering times, I never stooped to their level) with a nice loud AJDE JANKO every time he hit a winner. Right before Ryan lost, half his friends left. They didn't even stick around for the end  Some friends ;)

Yes, I leave Sunday night.

I have no idea if I am staying in a hotel, or at my BF's apartment or even where exactly in Italy we are going :bigcry: So I don't want to play doubles with someone and then let them down  I'll stay in the singles draw, just in case. Federer in this poor form/mono/ethargic state is still a good player but I don't think he has the capability to just step up and outplay Roddick when the going gets tough.
