Hi Rafatards:hug:

I only really worry about sharing stuff because I am ever paranoid that someone could recognise me from them. The "I love you" story that I originally wrote about was about my current bf, but the circumstances of our beginnings do not paint me in the best light, so I deleted all that and posted the one I did. But then I though "Too much" and edited it.

Linda, stop being so paranoid:mad: Now, I'm going crazy trying to figure out what only Claire got to read:lol:

I don't buy the trauma theory, nothing really strange has happened to Nadal since Wimbledon. He made the stupid decision of playing the US Open with tendonitis but was lucky to escape without a serious injury. Then his indoor season was good, the AO was normal, he suffered a dip in form from Rotterdam until the early rounds of IW. No parallel universe really

It's Houston, strange things happen and I wonder if Cuevas is on the Monte Carlo qualie list?

That match felt fishy to me, so I checked odds and they had Cuevas at 1.17:1. I thought that match should be at 1.05-1.1:1. It was over in less than an hour. I am not saying it was fixed but it might very well be a tank. On the other hand, Pablo might just have been surprised by an opponent he surely didn't know anything about. Too bad nobody watched this match.

Having to catch a flight to Monte Carlo might be very valid but Cuevas is not on the qualyfing list. I thought it might be an issue for Gordo but I think he will make it to the main draw since I expect Roddick, Blake, Haas, Gonzalez and Berdych to withdraw.

jcempire, is the man to bandwagon.

Clown Death is going to be a great contender in the Arse Clown Contest.

We should name it in honour of ezekiel this year, he would be a huge favourite to retain his title if he was eligible. Clay Death is one of the top contenders, I think he believes his own crap. The theory about the advantage of the one-handed backhand is funny.

He is from Valencia, well the region, so he has to play it. It wouldn't surprise me if Navarro beats him. Lucho is in great form.

Yes, a tank is different to a fix, but these idiotic paranoid gamblers, well not Deivid, Bad Gambler and a few others, they can't tell the difference at all.

Poor loss for Cuevas, but the goal is to make RG direct and he will do that.

We should name it in honour of ezekiel this year, he would be a huge favourite to retain his title if he was eligible. Clay Death is one of the top contenders, I think he believes his own crap. The theory about the advantage of the one-handed backhand is funny.

I am going to hold it after DC semis, because nationalistic morons run wild and yes I will name it after Zeke.

Strange match to fix, when it was about 50-50 to begin with. It is much more lucrative to fix something like Cuevas-Harrison

Like I said in the OOP thread. I have been at events, where I saw a guy struggle with a strain at training and put my cash on the other player, they won and I got some good money out of it. Does this mean I have been on the side of a fix?

Speculators, a lot of them are, not hard to manipulate the market.

I agree actually, and the telling thing is that the guy seems to have a fetish with fitness even though he is careful not to mention any Sparta crap. But his reference about the 100k bike runs... :tape:

I am sure bad gambler has looked at it, if the guy is careful to use a different IP address there can be no proof.

He should be banned anyway, only so much pollution one can read. He believes his crap and he has been schooled so many times. I had to call him out on the nonsense.

Saw every Muster match on clay. NYCTennisfan, said how most weren't broadcast in the US.

I saw that, it was hilarious. I cannot imagine ESPN in the US ever showing events like Kitzbuhel and Umag, not to mention that in may cases there is no coverage of the early rounds period, unless it is somebody in the bookie business or with serious connections.

Like I said in that thread, where I called him on his bullshit. I mean no problem thinking differently, but don't try and pull fast ones, especially when you don't have the funds to cover the expenses.

I could have chosen a few finals, but chose that one in particular the Umag 95 final. The guy he played in that final has some reference to Nadal actually.

The other Costa. Never saw any match from Umag in 95 but I think Carlos was way less troublesome for Muster than big Al.

Action Jackson
04-15-2008, 04:15 AM
Carlos served for the match in Umag and also being a Catalan legend he won Barcelona twice. He pushed Muster to a 7-5 in the 3rd set of Barcelona in 95.

He had a very good backhand as well, but not as powerful as big Al. Carlos was 0-7 against Muster, the Umag match 3-6 7-6(5) 6-4. Albert was 1-6 against Muster, but they had some battles, that was proper claycourt tennis and not this hardcourt shit that is played on clay (Nadal is the exception).

Merton
04-15-2008, 04:31 AM
Al Costa had that 5-set trilogy with Muster in RG, Kitzbuhel in 95 and Monte Carlo in 96. I remember Wertheim presented his RG win as a fluke, then I wrote to him that he was an established player on clay, the only surprise being that he produced his best form in 2002 when he was not at his peak. Of course Wertheim ignored me

You are right about present day clay, I think it plays much faster than the 90s so hard courters can play their clay games more easily. Then it is also a generational thing with Ferrero, Coria, Gaudio declining prematurely and players like Andreev and Almagro not reaching their potential. I don't see any new talent coming out at the very top on clay at least for the next 2-3 years.

Action Jackson
04-15-2008, 04:44 AM
Well done on writing to Worthless and not a surprise he ignored it. I wrote something to him once, and it was a criticism, but well worded and needless to say, he didn't answer it.

The 5 set trilogy and I saw all of them. They had a 3 set battle as well in Rome 96. Costa's backhand didn't mind the Muster topspin going there, that helped and also both were very good fighters. From here, this is where people thought Al was going to take over from Muster, then the skinny kid from Florianopolis changed all that. Costa was RG favourite or one of them in 98 and 99. I was so happy when he won RG, totally deserved.

Yes, that was the deal, they slowed down the grass and use a heavier ball. So with the clay they use a lighter ball and have made the surface a lot quicker. The fact that certain players that can do well have either faded or not reaching potential is very disappointing. I could write an essay on it.

The well is so dry in that department, when Federer is the 2nd best player on the clay that proves it.

Man Utd have the title in England almost sewn up. It's funny Man U and Barcelona, will more than likely be an open game with teams trying to score.

Liverpool and Chelsea, will be 0-0 in both legs or 1-1, both trying to play old Italian style football, without the technique.

Nadal is that good on clay, it doesn't matter who he draws, he will win most of the time, if he doesn't, then deal with it, when he starts losing on clay, go support someone else. What has Monaco done on clay against Nadal. Andreev is so up and down. I did read it and as for dismissing it, there were more than enough reasons to do so.

What has Monaco done on clay against Nadal. Andreev is so up and down. I did read it and as for dismissing it, there were more than enough reasons to do so.

You're still not understanding me. I meant I'd prefer Almagro or Monaco to draw Nole early because I think they both have good chances to beat him on clay. If they are in the draw near Rafa they obviously won't get that chance.

Quite a few players can beat Nole on clay, but he is far from a clay clown. Draws are what they are, not everyone can have a Ljubo 06, Nole 07 or Agassi 99 RG draw, then again Fed had a great draw one year in Hamburg 04, it was the year he beat Coria in the final.

Gaudio (out of form but very hard match for Federer)

Well I want the hardest possible draw for him, so I'd say drawing Almagro or Monaco in the 2nd round at Monte Carlo would be that.

I just wanted to point out that I didn't say Rafa would lose to Pico or Almagro.

If he was dead, then I'd have mentioned it. The whole car crash picture isn't the best scenario and yes this comes from someone who has seen a severed head at a car crash site.

Could have used Wikipedia to find out who he was and whether he was alive or not. Sure it isn't the most reliable source, but they usually get deaths of famous sportspeople within their respective countries correct.

Of that I have no doubt. But you do seem to have a general...um....distaste for Gasquet. I just can't figure out if it bothers you more that he has all of that unrealized potential or that he's gotten adoration and attention before he "earned" it. If it's the first, I guess I can understand that. Richie's game, when it's firing, is just lovely and it's quite the shame that he hasn't been able to do more with it.
