Well the Swiss don't go around throwing the red passports to anyone and everyone, but that's another issue. There is definitely no lack of migrants or refugees there.

It's a very big problem that simple solutions aren't going to be found very easily. I do have a problem with large immigrant ghettoes, but the problem is for the most part. It's only a few idiots among the migrants, that give the vast majority of the hard working ones, who respect the rules of the society a bad name.

I actually hate this Davis Cup tie at the moment. I want the Czechs win, but it's better if the Russians do.

Exactly my thoughts, even though Argentina will have chances against the Czechs the most likely outcome will be Spain winning boring ties at home.

Almagro's backhand on hard is still impressive, I marvel at it on many occasions.

I think it is a very underrated shot but the genius does not utilize it fully, due to his terrible shot construction.

I remember the last time Nadal was in Buenos Aires. He shat himself big time, when the crowd decided to test him a bit.

Never saw that match against Gaudio, certainly a strange scoreline.

Pretty much, it's not like Argentina haven't had enough away ties, plus their Dc opportunity is getting less likely, there isn't much coming through.

I think it is a very underrated shot but the genius does not utilize it fully, due to his terrible shot construction.

For sure, hope he can use that huge kicker and then starting having fun with the backhand and show the good parts of his game.

Never saw that match against Gaudio, certainly a strange scoreline

Gaudio was struggling, the crowd let Rafa know he was in Buenos Aires playing a local. Gaudio stopped missing and Nadal got rattled.

Acasuso in clown mode it seems.

Yes, he is. Serving poorly and missing too many forehands. Toad boy is no clay clown at all.

That is indeed another issue. Foreigners that live here for years are not Swiss but have the exact same rights than the Swiss (they can vote too). The Swiss passport wouldn't give them any favors

I do have a problem with large immigrant ghettoes, but the problem is for the most part.

Agreed. If you "park" the immigrants/refugees in suburban areas, letting them among themselves only, then how would you want them to be intergrated? That's been/still is a huge local problem in many places across Europe...

Hi everyone :wavey:

Have a nice weekend :)

I am just watching Michael Stich playing now against Becker. Funny Stich had so much talent, but so up and down mentally. I wish Fed had a backhand like Stich.

Which match have you watched? :) I was always a huge admirer of Stich and felt sorry for him that he stood in the shadow of Becker. He never got the deserved recognition here in Germany. Today we would be thrilled to have such a player in our country.

Some time ago he played during a showtournament against some of the former players. It was nice to see how he gave Johnny Mac a nightmare :) He teamed up with Marc Kevin Göllner and they won the event.

DC is sooo boring, bring on some real tennis, can't wait for Halle to start :)

JM

Have you always disliked the clay season?

:woohoo: Marat!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to you and Maria for Marat's win :)

Federer's domination is boring, Tiger's is something to marvel at it :D

Roger doesn't dominate anymore

What's with your and Mikey's fascination for Golf? Do you play it yourself?

i can't stand kiefer

Why don't you like Kiwi?

I often get to read interviews with him as he doesn't live that far away from me. I was especially pleased with his attitude when he was injured and had to wait for his comeback.

Originally I wanted to go to the DC encounter between Germany and Spain today, but unfortunately my boss got ill this week and I wasn't able to get a day off.

It's not a surprise that Kiwi lost in straight sets to Nadal, even with Rafa having to deal with the jetlag from Miami. It would have made no difference if Haas had been able to play.

Since I'm at home sick today and doing nothing, and since DC is going on, I'm breaking my MTF detox program for a couple of days

If the foreigners are good sportspeople then they will get the passport, well not always. One of my friends he is a Serb but raised in Switzerland, he came up to military age. He said well I am not going to fight for the Yugoslav Army as it was then, he ended up getting Swiss citizenship and fulfilled all the things he needed to.

Yes, that's the problem and it's here in Australia as well. Not so much where I live, Norway is a pretty white place in that regard, there are different peoples, just not a lot of them and they are spread. The combo of the suspicion of outsiders and then sometimes the newcomers don't get or want to integrate with the society, these factors can cause friction.

Agassi was a hell of a hard worker and I admired his dedication and his charity work as well as his game style.

However I understand why George and others hated him because he had that squeaky clean image when he was far from it, can't forget Kucera and some tank jobs. This reason is why I hate Steven Gerrard, not because he plays for them ****s, but because he has a whiter than white image even though he once did a tackle that attempted to smash a guy's testicles, has cheated to win penalties, got people sent off and acted like a prick.

Hi Andreea, Claire, JM, Betty, Doris :wavey:

Hi Getta

Well, he was on the juice just enough to make a nice comeback

j/k :p

No, I truly couldn't stand him early on, but then didn't mind him as soon as Pete owned him most of the key times :)

Smart and big enough not to get caught.

He was too big of a marketing product. Him being caught would have ruined tennis...

Maybe I'm naive or just deaf, but I have never heard of any doping suspicions against him here in Germany

i :hearts: also Goran

I just adored Goran :secret: even more then I love Rafa  Not for his serve, though!

I never liked Goran. Though I have to say I found it nice for him to get a Wimbledon title in the last days of his career, although he beat one of my favourite players in the final in 2001. But that final was a real classic :worship: Just loved the atmosphere in Wimbledon that day :)

I totally share those suspicions, the thing is that there must be too many people involved so eventually something will leak out (crossing fingers). It might take some time for that. By the way, there is a huge doping scandal in Greece these days, with the entire weight-lifting team practically wiped out.

The tie becomes more complicated but Argentina should still go through. I think that Chucho was the best choice but no doubt both him and Mancini will get a lot of crap for this performance. Unfairly so.

Yes, I heard about the weight lifting scandal with the whole team being chucked out. Agassi for sure deserves the suspicions, he was almost Kederis like, disappeared for ages, then comes out and does well in big events. Always going to protect your best economic asset, it's like Nadal or Fed, they would never get done, if they were taking something.

I listened to Mancini's interview at the draw, he said it was pretty much all the same standard, so he chose Acasuso, but now it will just be 3-1.

The thing with Agassi is that his fitness was total crap before 95, then after he comes back in 98 he is suddenly one of the fittest guys on the tour. Kederis was decent but nowhere near the top before the 2000 Olympics, then suddenly he becomes dominant and we know how it ended. If the tour was covering them it would be criminal, fundamentally tennis is about skills so a true non-tolerance policy appears obvious in the long run. I mean doping for sports like cycling and weight lifting appears sadly inevitable but even there the cycling world now pays the price for its earlier tolerance.

Chucho was relatively in better form than Monaco or Canas, so it made perfect sense to use him. Sadly this simple fact will probably be lost in the overreaction over the loss.

He wasn't very serious about the fitness at that time, lost form, injured and then came back beefy, disappeared and full of lean muscle mass. Kederis improved on every round in the 2000 games through to the gold run. He won the Worlds in 2001, then slapped the opposition in the Euros running 19.85. Hardly ever raced outside of Greece.

Drugs in tennis are limited in what they can do. They don't help your strokes.

Agree on the Chucho thing. The Berdych interview after he lost wasn't too bad. They asked him about his 5 set record when it went to the 5th. He said I had more important things to worry about than my stats.

It is a good thing that it came out in the long run, the most worrisome thing is the potential for 15-16 year olds to use performance enhancing drugs. Ultimately it is a health-hazard issue.

Blake must have some wire attaching him to the baseline and sending some punishing electric current if he changes his position in the return of serve. He always stands on the baseline, regardless if he faces Karlovic or Volandri. Then he closes his eyes and fires a return. Funny, if there was a poll in GM about best returners I bet he would get a high ranking

I actually think his choking abilities are overexaggerated. I maintain that the DC final wasn't that bad, Youzhny played very well in the final 3 sets.

He's obviously not the best under pressure, but he's not as bad as people make out. The DC final took him almost 2 years to get over though, and this will cause serious mental scars.

When serving for the match PHM didn't make a whole lot of :silly: mistakes, there were a number of good points from Blake but it's still got to hurt when he's so close and fails to close out the match
