Murray, but Nole is better at attack
in clay, Nole is better at both IMO due to his movement :)

True, Nole has that stretching slide which Murray doesn't quite have. :)

Where's the poll? Murray, IMO.

murray is a better defender overall out of the two, and he has more stamina.

but nole is so good when stretched on the backhand, he takes that huge first step, amazing to watch. nole is not too shabby a defender.

for me they are both very quick, but murray is better at actually doing something with defense shots. he has a great ability to put them back in difficult positions.

nole moves better on clay as people have said.

Murray for sure, he's quicker, more versatile and can turn defence into attack quicker.

Murray. He has great precision in his defensive game (alla Hewitt) and can really make the players life really difficult.

Djokovic is better on clay because he has a big topspin forehand

Djokavich is a better defender but he cant transition points back to offence. When he is on D it is staraight up Defense with the occasional big shot. Murray can work his way back into the point. With court positioning and tactical play. Djokavich is more one demensional. But he is vry very good at that demention.

Yeah I agree with what you're saying but he can definately get on the offence again with his backhand. He can hit aggressive defensive backhands when he's pulled out wide if you know what I mean and haul himself into control of the point,he can't do that too much on the forehand side, like you say just pure defence

Murray is a better pure defender. However, Djokovic can more easily transition from D to O in one shot, where Murray needs to set up the transition usually.

One thing also to remember about these two is Djokavich is a natural rythem player and Andys mind is largley centered around throwing off rythem. It makes their defensive styles very different in general. Andy is looking for the miss through throwing off rythem and change ups while Novak is looking for a miss through consistency and movement. Classic strategical defense verses passive defense. Andy often trys to control the point through defensive play.

I am not always right but I try to figure this stuff out, always thinking. I am on vacation right now and this forum is like a big crossword puzzle for me. This is the first tennis forum I have been to and I just want to express right now how warm and friendly everyone is. ;)

Quite different players to begin with.

Murray is more of a natural defender than Nole.

But Nole has great defence too.

Djokovic has outstanding defence & probably doesn't get enough credit for it. But Murray gets more balls back.
