Anyone else agree? There have been no real epic matches, night sessions have been shit, no major upsets.

Anyone else feel the same way?

AO begins on Tuesday.

Gasquet/Youzhny, Blake/Pony, Ferrer/Baggy, seems quite a decent number of epic matches for first week to me. Is there some kind of collective amnesia and only Saturday is remembered?

Upsets, I've lost count how many seeds have been knocked out, starting with Soderling or did you expect a couple from top8 out by 4th round.

If there's no upsets early-on, that usually makes for a more exciting latter stages of a tournament.

Yeah, problem has been many of the top players receiving complete joke draws untill the fourth round. Should pick up now though.

I enjoyed the first couple rounds but the rest had been pretty disapointing. Aussie is my favorite slam because it ussually has some real battles consistently throughout the tourney.

I'm only here cause Roddick's still here xD Not too keen on the others.

If Davydenko wins, then this boring AO was all worth it. I don't want to see anymore passive tennis this week.

If Roddick wins (IF, IIIIF), then my bias will naturally make me cheer for joy.

its been shit for the people who have had RLA passes and then for most who watch it on T.V. Apart from the Tomic match and Dementieva vs Henin...RLa havnt had there moneys worth.. i was at kohlscreiber nadal on Friday night and it was crap.. i paid 110 bucks to see Wozniaki last night aswel..and the people who paid 50 saw a decent match. However that being said Hisense Arena Matches have been Great as all the big names have played there and there have been epic matches. I thought last year was boring until the second week. There Have been great crowds and brilliant early round matches and there is still more to come.

Thanks. The only real good match was Delpo v Blake but still not epic imo.

What the heck?

Del Potro/Blake was one of the best matches you'll ever see.

Gasquet/Youzhny was incredible, almost 5 hours.

Baghdatis/Ferrer.

Gonzalez/Korolev

Neiminen/Almagro

Just because most of these matches weren't on RLA doesn't mean this tournament hasn't had many epics.

Even Andreev/Federer was pretty entertaining for an early match.

Always enjoy the AO i have to say the first week has been good. Not great but not horrible.
Other users have already mentioned the epic matches for me Youzhny V Gasquet was the best maybe because i am a Youzhny fan. The Matches on RLA have been poorly selected by organizers and not for Tennis fans but i guess for Television.

But look at it this way Fed,Nadal,Djoko,Davy,Murray,Del Potro,Tsonga etc etc all can win it some more then others but this AO is tough to call and all those playersare still there.

Federer V Davydenko
Djokovic V Tsonga
Del Potro V Rod/Gonzo
Nadal V Murray

Imagine that as your quarter finals. Great matches all of them. Hopefully some of those players get through there 4th round matches because i will be fired up if they do. All players are fresh and fitness wise probably the best they can be as it is the start of the year Can't wait :bigclap:

I  at the lack of upsets comment.

Only good for the shock factor for about 5 minutes then you realise uspets makes for terrible one-sided matches later in the tournament.

.-Federers_Mate-.
01-24-2010, 06:14 AM
Thanks to an upset..hisense viewers will now be treated to Tsonga vs Almagro instead of Soderling vs Tsonga. Same goes for Kubot vs Djokovic

judging by the responses in this thread, some people will get excited over any old shit that goes 5 sets. pretty boring so far, but hopefully that means a great finish to the tournament.

Andreev v Kindlmann
Gimeno-Traver v Granollers
De Bakker v Russell
Anderson v Luczak

Gonzo/Korolev was an absolute ripper, the shotmaking the whole time was crazy.

Another EPIC five setter today and another Potential one unfolding on Hisense between Jo and Almagro..Hewitt Fed should be a cracker tonight aswel. O and there was another huge shock today as wozniaki lost. This Grand Slam is turning into the best one since the Australian open 2009 :wavey:

@ Everko you cannot judge as u are just watching from your t.v (only Stosur and RLA)

But you can't comment on the entire tournament based on your limited view then, can you. If they bore you, get a stream or go to other courts if there.

well im not there, and i pay to have sky, so sitting watching a shitty live stream from court 6, with no replays, hawk eye, commentary (though thats not always bad) is not even comparable.

compared to recent slams i think this oz open has been pretty boring, but hopefully the qtr finals is where it will come alive, with murray vs nadal and fed vs davy.

It wasn't the best AO but it's not boring. There were some really quality matchups (as others have noted) and we're now at the QF stage so it's far from over.

Perhaps it's boring for you because you're not playing :p

the most interesting QFs in a long time.
Davy - Fed
Murray - Nadal
Djoko - Tsonga
Roddick - Cillic

im not sure which one i want to see the most. they're all good.

i was lucky enough to catch everyone of those matches:D well except Neiminen/Almagro because i dont like either, the del potro v blake one was amazing!!

i saw more good matches on the otuside courts, anyone who got a ticket to Rod Laver this year really didnt get there moneys worth, even the semi finals were pretty lame, hisense areana had some really good matches this year, but the first week of the tourny i think was amazing....really unless "your player" makes it through to the finals its going to be a "boring" tournement from then on:shrug: i tihnk sometimes people on here just like to complain:lol:

I think it's the worst open period in some time.

your just annoyed because you cannot go to it because you live of the otherside of the world from it. I think it has been one of the best Grand Slams in ages. All the quarters were exicting and unpredictable. I mean Cillic vs roddick,Tsonga Djokovic, Davy vs Fed and Muray vs Nadal were all high-quality and great to watch. Even matches such as gonzo vs roddick and tsonga vs Almagro were better quality than the shit that wimbledon produces everyyear. As for the semis being boring.i thought cillic vs murray was a class match
