Haas in 4 :) oranges 01-21-2010, 04:03 PM I want straight answer, oranges!! :ras: I think Tsonga has an edge ATM, but whether that means much remains to be seen. But I assume you're asking about loyalties. I tried the rational approach just for you, you know the younger one will have more opportunities in the coming years and so on, but it's not really working even ahead of the match, let alone when the action starts. It's a lose-lose situation for me. QF or semi, it would become a win-win, but 3rd round, it's almost as bad as that first round clash with Gasquet at USO. :sobbing: Lugburz 01-21-2010, 04:06 PM :ras: I think Tsonga has an edge ATM, but whether that means much remains to be seen. I doubt that would bode well for Tommy. Whenever planning a drop shot, opt for a slice instead  latso 01-21-2010, 07:31 PM One advice - if you guys are one day tempted by betting, just open a WWW thread here and bet against the score in the poll. Profit guaranteed! Why would TSonga beat Haas? coz Haas went through 5 sets against Tipsa? a bit too shalow this argument, no? Tipsa played the best tennis of his life and Tommy was stabile enough to take him down. The German's BH was working like a Rolex - how do u imagine Tsonga holding in a BH rallie against Haas? This one can't be else but a tight battle, with possibly Haas as a winner, due to his by far superior backhand. Will be tight coz both serve too good. And both aren't return geniuses. But Tommy is the more experienced player with coller head (sounds funny to say that about him, but compared to JoTso, it's a fact). Tommy in 4 for me. 3 TBs minimum leng jai 01-21-2010, 07:38 PM I doubt that would bode well for Tommy. Whenever planning a drop shot, opt for a slice instead  Well his drop shot was on fire against Greul, but Tsonga moves about 7 times better than him. Its a terrible tactic though if you ask me, half the time when he goes for a dropshot hes in a position to hit an attacking backhand... Tsonga's backhand is much improved and hit plenty of winners vs. Dent. Tsonga beat Haas 6-4 6-4 at Kooyong. At this stage in his career Haas is no match for Tsonga, this will be a fairly straightforward 3 set win. LMAO at telling people not to go by this thread and bet for Haas, you must work for those betting companies. Lugburz 01-21-2010, 07:41 PM I think that his drop shots were just in place, too hard to read from both Tips and Greul. One thing is certain, much more consistent on his BH side this slam, bunch of clean winners. I'm looking forward to a great match with lot of all around play! Should be a joy to watch! Haas can beat/lose to anyone and same goes for Tsonga, so I don't know how you could really predict this result with any real confidence. latso 01-21-2010, 08:05 PM Tsonga should win but its not like that Exho means absolutely anything at all. At this stage in his career:rolleyes: Last year he had two back to back wins against Djokovic(Final of Halle), he was 2 games from taking out Federer at round of 16 of Roland Garros, he made the semis of Wimbledon. Tsonga hasn't made a semifinal(final) since the 2008 Aussie Open(his only one). Last year at the slams Haas lost to Nadal at Aussie, Federer at Roland Garros(4th Round choke, two sets up on Roger), Federer at Wimbledon(tight 3 set Semi), Verdasco at US Open(Choked in 5th set). Three of those times the person who beat Tommy also won the slam. Tommy is a hell of a player still anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.:p By the way the only time they have played was last year and Tommy won that quite easily! 2009 Halle Germany R16 Haas, Tommy 6-3, 7-6(3) With that said, Tommy could lose to Tsonga(who is very dangerous when he is on) but than again he could also beat him. Tommy can beat pretty much anyone when he is on, depends on which Tommy shows up. He has made the semis of the Aussie open 3 times and he can make it 4 times. I say Tommy Haas in 5 sets. I am still objective, for example I wouldn't put Tsonga's odds vs. Fed or Davy over 50%. You however are telling people not to bet for Tsonga, a higher ranked player than Haas and in the prime of his career, because you don't think there's any basis for Tsonga to win? Because Haas won in 5 sets against TIPSAREVIC, a grand slam mug of the highest order? No one will listen to you if they care avout their wallets (ie. everyone).:wavey: Ivanatis 01-21-2010, 10:47 PM if he doesn't screw up early again like in rounds 1 and 2, Haas will win it Acer 01-21-2010, 10:54 PM Jo in 5 leng jai 01-21-2010, 11:05 PM What does my nickname have to do with it? You undermined Haas’ 5 set victory over Tipsaveric (who is one of the most dangerous unseeded players and plays far better against good players) and then go to say Tsonga’s backhand is on fire against the Goat Taylor Dent. Their rankings don’t mean much. Haas played some of his best tennis in 2009 coming back from injury once again, arguably having as good a season as Tsonga. Haas has spent most of his career ranked lower than his playing ability. Do you think when the top guys play Haas they base their expectations on his ranking? I highly doubt that. This match is highly unpredictable, such is the nature of both players and I wouldn’t be surprised by any result. EnriqueIG8 01-21-2010, 11:07 PM Tsonga in 3. Audacity 01-22-2010, 02:35 AM Tsonga easily. Hope I'm wrong though. Haas is good enough to take a set from him, but I don't think he will be good enouhg to take the match. I won't be upset if tommy wins, just as long as the winner doesn't lose in the 4th round somehow. ballbasher101 01-22-2010, 05:43 PM Haas could win but Tsonga is the favorite. I like Haas and I don't mind Tsonga so a win for either one is okay. | |
