Good match. Once Baggy got the TB, there was a high likelihood of this going to 5 and it did.

Baggy showing some vintage form on this court.

Unbelievable victory, some rallies were insane, Baghdatis is certainly one of the very best shotmakers out there, his touch is sublime and he has such power when he goes for it! He was cramping in the end but got the job done, after being down 2 sets to 0 and down a break in the 3rd set! The atmosphere in a potential match with Hewitt is gonna be unbeluevable, watch out for this:D!!!

Very entertaining match!
How lovely to see Baggy playing his best tennis again. Yeah, I am in awe for the guy - so often 'written off' the past two years. Glad to see him manage to make his mark again. :bounce: :yeah:

Sorry Pics. - no disgrace, good match.

Baggy out-fought the fighter :worship: :worship:

it proved to be such a crucial double break as he started to cramp right after he broke, could have been a totally different scenario if Ferrer held and then Baggy started cramping, Ferru had troubles with his left leg himself in the 3rd set and once he showed it he seemed to lose his way mentally and dropped his level alot, getting more and more tired as the match wore on.

great match :yeah:

i feel for ferrer, but full credit to baghdatis, what a fighter the guy truly is.

in the 5th set, especially that last game, he was playing on 1 leg, and still managed to pull through against a guy ranked 17 and higher than him (ferrer is no slouch).

hoping for baghdatis vs hewitt next round, im hoping for another 11.49pm-4.34am match :haha:

This was a great match and Baghdatis was huge in the 5th set. After winning that 3rd set tie-break he was able to slowly but surely impose his more powerful game onto Ferrer.

a question about the new rule since it could have taken place here, so if Baggy wanted to take a medical time out, he would have to concede points/games, how exactly does that happen? is there a time equivalent for each point (for example concede 3 points for a 3 minutes timeout), or the opponent serves into the open court...

I assume if it was the cramping player serving, the umpire would warn him for taking more than 25 seconds to serve, and then for each 25 seconds he would give a point to the opponent, is this how it goes? and when the opponent is serving as well?

They are allowed to have a trainer out during a changeover. So, a player would have to concede points/games that would be played until the changeover. That how I see it

Really great match from Baghdatis! Glad to see him making a comeback. The upcoming Young looks to be pretty promising. Hehe

But what has happened to Ferrer here. For a grinder, his recent slam results have been pretty pathetic. I don't think I've ever seen him fade as badly as he did today. Baggy played great no doubt but a 1-6 fifth set is pretty weak from Ferrer. Whatever...

If his alter ego Chokedatis doesn't appear again, then he could pose a threat to Federer and thrash Hewitt but that's highly unlikely. He needs to stay away from MacDonalds and watch Rocky before the game to have a chance to not choke against Fed. With Hewitt it's 50-50.

This was the best match I have watched in a while. Amazing shot making from both players. There were tons of extended rallies with both players going for winners shot after shot. There was also great display of transition from defense to attack. Baggy played a ton of sick angles, drop shots and Ferrer did some inspired retrieving. I can't ask anymore from a tennis match.

Does anyone know if he was given a code violation for breaking all those racquets? I know when other players have done it the were given some sort of warning for smashing just one and Baggy smashed three in a row. Seems like there is great inconsistency here.

Since he was looking at his fans it was probably meant to be a gesture showing that he has huge balls. Not surprised really knowing how he behaves when he is around his best buddies. It took balls to shake the chokiness off and win the match.

I saw the third set tiebreak and Ferrer made too much errors that cost him the match, it was the time to finish it.
Then in the fifth set it was a slaughter. Baggy intelligently using slices when Ferrer tried to attack his backhand with inside outside forehands, to force him to go his forehand and so to start forehand-forehand rallies where there was only one winner
