OMG Nadal is playing some AMAZING tennis. I think he has a great chance of winning this Austalian Open. He is in great form and he is moving very well. He is really beating up on his opponents so far. I think he will rip Mugray a new one in the Quarters.

Lacko was one of the worst second round opponents I've seen, there was a moment on which his 1st serve was like 25% or so :help:

Rafa will head directly to the practice courts after this match, he didn't even have to turn a single gear up :o

If Rada plays AMAZING tennis, he doesn't hit 30 UEs in just 24 games...

I think Jim Courier wants Murray to beat Nadal, he didn't say that in as many words but I get the impression he likes Murray more the way he brought his name up as a big deal. He picked on Nadal missing a flat backhand and said his new strings caused that and that it could become a problem, even though it was the only flat backhand Nadal had missed! In fact Nadal's backhand especially in his 1st round was his biggest weapon and looked the best its looked in a long long time :yeah:

EVERYONE RUBBISHING LUKAS LACKO SHOULD JUST GROW UP AND START PLAYING A BIT OF TENNIS THEMSELVES. Lacko is a great athlete and amazing tennis player with good shots but he came up against ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATS... Rafa never took this match to his best level and that's because even his B-game was good enough to beat Lacko.
And all this translates to
Lacko=Good
Rafa=Legend

Mayer was clearly not 100%. His movement was hampered and he kept hitting everything short.

Nadal seems to have the ability too bring out the worst in players when he is healthy and moving well. Anyone who makes it to the second round of a major is a good player. Hey at least he finished the match and didnt default at 2-0 in the third.

Don`t be to harsh on Lacko beeing the worst second round opponent ever.Any player who plays on the center court for the first time in his life is nervous and can play a bad match especially against someone like Nadal.

Its crazy how much better Nadal's forehand is on this surface, relative to a faster hard. Ditto for his second serve.

Even when he drops his balls short, they kick up so much that it makes it impossible to get anything on it.

He's going to be really hard to beat.

Ha. Jim Courier. You must never heard him talk to or speak about Rafa? If you listen to him enough, it's not hard to miss his Rafa dislike. I swear, I'd bet he and Justin Gimbelstob would pay to suck Roger's big toe. A little bias I wouldn't mind but Jim Courier, Darren Cahill, Patrick McEnroe, that former WTA player that's married to Roger's pubiclist, and the new ESPN chick wouldn't know the meaning of objectivity.

Its all about money. Same has always been with Agassi media fanclub as well. Federer is an elitist (just like many of them), Nadal has more of your normal family based mentality. Very, Very similar to Michael Chang and the way some of those same people didnt like him.

I waited the whole night to watch this match and turned it off after 3-0 in the first. It really did look like what I was expecting, Lacko nervous and Nadal playing the usual. Although I am from Slovakia I dont like Lacko that much, his ranking is high due to some challengers but he isn´t used to play top 50 players and let alone Nadal on center court, so that may be a little excuse. Dont worry, he´ll lose his ranking and you won´t see him anymore on the main tour, only on some asian muggy challengers.

Nonsense, Lacko is a guy for the future. He is young and also reached the QF of Chennai this year. He is top 50 material.

Stats indicate an alarmingly shit match.

It was, though those stats don't look accurate to me - unless the majority of those UEs came halfway the third set when I (finally) decided that I'd better fall asleep in bed in stead of in front of the telly.

Rafa looked good (especially his serve), but well, what's to conclude from opposing such a complete not-in-his-league kind of opponent? Not much. In fact, I even think I noticed him miss quite a few relatively easy shots. This was yet another practice session for him. Congrats Rafa... on to the next one! :)

Llakso... haha. The young fellow appeared nervous and most of all, impressed with the occasion. All too understandable. Tried, at times - and kudos for avoiding bagels and playing till the end. Most of all it was embarrassing to see how he couldn't read Rafa's lefty serve (even the 2nd one) to save his life, but I get the feeling more players are bound to have trouble with that.
Oh and Llacko is... cute. :p

Haha, good point. :spit:
Seriously though, Rafa's serve looked better than it has in a very long time. Have to wait for decent opponents to see whether it's just been a 'mug opponents-induced fata morgana' or if it's for real. If so... don't see anyone stopping Rafa before the semis at least.

We'll see. I shouldn't underestimate Murray. If he pulls out all the stops, he can beat anybody.

Yep, true. I'm just not convinced yet by Murray, as his serve seems to be rather off in his first two matches. Well who knows, will have to wait and see indeed.

Looking good Rafa, it will be interesting to see what happens between him and Murray. Both have really good chances to win this AO, Djoko too. I just don't see Fed in the equation. Del Pony will be spent. Kolya, maybe. Let's see if he can really beat both Fed and Djoko, I doubt it.

Nadal was never under pressure and as such he seemed to lose focus and spray his shots from time to time. I don't think much can be taken away from this match. He did hit some really nice inside-out forehands.

When Nadal has won slams in the past his serve has been excellent, at least the recent wins of Wimbledon and AO, makes a huge difference when you win most rallies AND cheap points from serve :yeah:
