AO Round 1, Night 1: Nadal (2) vs Luczak - WWW?

Nice way to kick off the night program for this AO. Obviously Nadal has the edge in class, but Luczak is coming off a career year, has had some good results so far this year, and of course will have the backing of the home crowd. Nadal should progress here, but Luczak is one heck of a fighter and could at least make this interesting. In any case, glad to see Peter get a chance to shine on RLA :yeah:

Side note: Men's match before the women's in the RLA night session.

Hopefully Luczak can keep it close to get the crowd involved. But Nadal will win in 3 with maybe a tiebreak

I reckon its unlikely anyone will stretch Nadal to a tie-breaker in the first 4 rounds..

Nadal will win easily in 3 sets. This is the worst draw that Pete could possibly have gotten.

Pete certainly drew the short straw in the draw. I don't think he will get embarassed but Nadal in 3.

Rafa in 3!!! 6-3,6-2,6-3, something like that i thinks...unlucky for pete to draw the defending champ 1st round, but hopefully pete gives his best out there.

Dunno much about Luczak. Is he a good server? If he is then he could play tight sets loosing like 6-4 or 7-5 but if he is a baseliner then it should be 6-3 6-1 6-3 for Nadal

I'll be rooting for Pete. But if Rafa plays anywhere near as well as he has been playing so far this year then Luczak won't have a chance but if Rafa is off there may be a close set but i'll still say Rafa in straights.

The only way NADAL will loose a set in this match is if he plays blindfolded, with his right hand, under the influnce of ten bottles of booze and his left and right shoelaces are accidentally tied together...

Nice moment for Luczak, he'll enjoy it and works so hard that he deserves the allocades of the crowd. But Nadal in 3, no doubt.

Luczak hasn't lost to Nadal before, the stats are in his favour.

Definitely. I think he has what it takes to win in straights.
