Novak could show just for a little that he cared. He was happy doing nothing on the court. I just hope it's not his new strategy for AO.
Nando was very good.

Nole made way too many DFs and was not getting his first serve in
That and the fact that Nando was hitting back everything and making winners

Nole didnt consider changing his game at any part of the match which a world number 3 is supposed to do when their game doesn't work in match play. Thats why he got destroyed. He couldnt adapt to the conditions.

I'm sure in an official match he would have adapted and he knows he would be able to in that situation.Today was probably about trying out some crappy tactic that clearly wasn't working but decided to keep going with it anyway, but I suppose that's what exho's are for afterall....stick to your usual game Novak that resembles a top ten performance

ok, at first i thought it was just nole taking a bit of time to settle and adjust to the gusty conditions, so the first set he lost 6-1, im like yeh its good, he might need a set to settle, then 2nd set was just as bad, i was like 'what the heck is this guy doing out here?', he played atrocious to say the least.

but full credit to nando, he played a great match, he kept getting the ball into play, and had such a miniscule amount of UE, cant wait to see nando against the winner of tsonga vs delpo.

nole...better pick up your game next match, disappointing today, he was running around with two flat tyres...

I certainly hope that is the case, because if not it is indeed questionable????? His AO Form so far is not sublime. He is experimenting and BSing at this point.... Really an oscar acting performance!!!!!!! Why in the world was he even playing this exo if his intention was to experiment. He could have done that anyway!!!! Why make such a fool out of himself!!!!! I am really concerned about his performance and careless attitude, with or without a New year celebration excuse???????? Well next week is not far off and we shall see what he is up to!!!!! Kudos to Dasco!!!!! He showed some good form. Watch out!!!!!

Because Nando was taking the thing too serious so in the end he just left him off,he would have had to get into serious match mode to compete with Verdasco, the way he was playig last night and he clearly didn't want to waste energy doing that.Notice in the presser how he uses the words, games and points,he said nothing about wanting sets or matches, sounds to me like he wished he didn't have to come back Saturday,he said it was very different to Melbourne Park,he has clearly lost interest in this event and just wants to get back on the practise courts and prepare for what he actually gives a crap about...a slam

Verdasco has a very good chance at the Australian Open, and he had a very good World Tour Finals despite not winning a match, he won a set in every match.

No player would feel totally comfortable going into a slam without a single match,so he entered Kooyong even though he had no great interest in it.If it was competitive matchplay he was after he would have entered a tournament and got some ranking points for his trouble. He probably thought Dasco would be in exho mode like Haas the day before and they could experiment and try things out but when he saw that wasn't the case he said goodnight and goodluck.

Verdasco sure played good though and will definately be a big threat as always

well I dont get it, why would a player play a match without competitive matchplay especially if he was interested in having some matched before a Slam? whats the point of oging there and 'warming up'.

he could've played a more or less decent preparatory match with nando, regardless of the targeted result. but this was one of djokos 'handbrake' moments. saw it isnt going and pulled the plug. frankly Im never in favor of it (esp since I watched it ;))

on another note, IF djokovic does win AO and goes to have a great season, it will aaaaall be down to you know what?

... his decision to play Basel. you know, like passing of a torch.;). I heard even djokovic's were there giving pancakes for free (along with chocolate and multitasking knives) to seal the deal.

 Good one

And as regards the other thing Djokovic seems to be a firm believer in whether he is having a good day or not and how he feels on the court. When he doesn't feel particularly good he can sometimes throw his hat at it(although he seems to be getting slightly better at toughing matches out in competitive matchplay at least) but for an exho he probably had no interest in going there.I'm not saying I agree with it, just I think that's what probably happened. He also seems a bit fed up with Kooyong,he clearly doesn't think it's all that similar to AO(it is very open flat and windy, not like a stadium),I don't know but he didn't seem worried in his presser about his form(excluding that match obviously)

This thread deserves this post from another thread:

This may help (from Wikipedia, my bolding):

An exhibition game (also known as an exhibition match or simply exhibition, or a demonstration or demo or an "exhibit" event) is a sporting event in which there is no competitive value of any significant kind to any competitor (such as tournament or season rankings, or prize money) regardless of the outcome of the competition. Quality of play is generally valued over the end result. In association football a common equivalent term is friendly match. The term scrimmage is also sometimes used, especially with regard to team sports, but is ambiguous because it has other meanings even in that context. Another synonym is preparation match.

Throughout the world, many team and one-on-one sports and games feature exhibition matches. For example, two professional snooker or chess players, or two ice hockey teams, may play an exhibition to settle a challenge, to provide (compensated) entertainment, or often to raise money for charities. This may help (from Wikipedia, my bolding):

Really, I wouldn't worry much about this result. I'm sure Nole will be on fire by next week. I read he's been training very hard in the Alpine mountains and then Dubai. I think he will be very fit by next week. Either you compete or you don't and simply Novak couldn't care less about an exho other than practicing. Let's wait until he pulls out the big guns. Chill out folks.
